TikTok star slams controversial stylist Jamie Azzopardi for their 'rude' comment at Australian Fashion Week

Controversial stylist Jamie Azzopardi has become locked in yet another online feud as they were accused of making a 'rude' comment to a fashion student this week. The influencer, who uses they/them pronouns, allegedly told a budding TikTok star she was 'out of a job' while she was in the middle of work at Fashion Week. Sinead, who is a fashion assistant and student, detailed the moment in a video posted to her Instagram account. Jamie has since said her version of the interaction is not what happened. 'I was working for this brand yesterday doing interviews and street style videos,' Sinead began. 'I walked up to this girl and spoke to her, she was excited to be in the interview. There was a person standing behind the girl. I knew of this person. 'I tell her the brand I'm working with and this person comes over and says, "Oh, did I just hear [the brand]?" I said, "Yes, hi." 'They go, "I just heard that's been shut down. You're out of a job babe." I was stunned. And the girl I was interviewing? Her jaw was on the floor. 'The audacity you have to come up to me while I'm working, interacting with the public, telling me that I'm out of a job. 'If anyone was going to know that I'm out of a job, wouldn't it be me? 'What gives you the authority to come over to me and say that? What in your right mind makes you think that's alright? 'I'm also a human being. I'm working. It's just embarrassing. Actually infuriating... It's quite disrespectful.' Sinead added she did not share her experience to create drama, but wanted to start a conversation about etiquette in the fashion community as a whole. While Sinead did not mention Jamie's name in the video, she later confirmed they were the person she was talking about in a comment. The confirmation came after someone commented on a TikTok clip Jamie posted, saying: 'I wanna hear your side of the story. Did you really say that to that worker?' 'I'm sorry, did I really say what to what worker?' Jamie replied. When the commenter mentioned Sinead's video, the stylist added: 'You can believe what you'd like, but I'll be honest, that's not how I remember it going down. 'Hearing what the person they were talking had to say during the show, that's not how she remembers it either.' Jamie went on to say it was 'funny timing' the video came out after they were accused of 'calling out' influencer Sopha Dopha for her fashion choices. In an now deleted interview with Pedestrian TV, Jamie named Sopha, aka Sophia Begg, a 'micro-influencer boss' despite her 1.4 million followers. After Jamie told his follower Sinead was not recounting their interaction accurately, the fashion student then confirmed it had been Jamie she was talking about. 'I didn't name them as I am not looking for views... but since they don't want to take accountability, I will confirm it was Jamie Azzopardi,' she said. When Daily Mail Australia reached out to Jamie to tell their side of the story, they said: 'No comment.' After Jamie told his follower Sinead was not recounting their interaction accurately, the fashion student then confirmed it had been Jamie she was talking about Meanwhile, Sinead told Daily Mail Australia she 'wanted to shed light on the situation so as a community we can all do better'. 'I have also seen their comment and they refuse to take accountability. The girl I was interviewing has over 1 million followers,' she said. 'I highly doubt they spoke about the situation afterwards. She was as stunned as I was.' Jamie is no stranger to Fashion Week scandal. The non-binary influencer was also slammed this week for wearing Shein to the event. The brand has been shrouded in controversy for years following allegations of large-scale environmental impacts and the copying of designs from smaller fashion labels. A brown-hued fringe frock, which retails for $69.95 on Shein, Jamie wore on day two is seemingly a knock-off of a $3,945 Hervé Léger fringed bandage gown. Jamie even gave Shein a shout-out in a recent Instagram post, crediting the brand for the dress. This year, Fashion Week has pushed a strong message of sustainability with various shows, initiatives and installations. Jamie even gave Shein a shout-out in a recent Instagram post, crediting the brand for the dress This is why the dress didn't land well with other attendees of the event. During an interview with Pedestrian TV, when Jamie was asked who they considered a 'mico-influencer boss', they named Sopha Dopha. They also said while they admired Sopha's fashion choices, they weren't ones they would make for their own look. The statement was taken to heart by her fans, who leapt to her defence and slammed Jamie and their choice of dress in the comments of the video. 'Jamie literally wore a dress from Shein to day two. I don't think they're in a position to sit on a high horse about fashion,' one person wrote. 'So sick of certain people on a high horse because they're more creative or fashionable than someone else and the audacity to wear Shein. It's astounding,' another said.

Controversial influencer slammed for wearing $70 designer knock-off Shein dress to Australian Fashion Week

Jamie Azzopardi is no stranger to a fashion week scandal, but this one takes the cake. The controversial influencer, who is non-binary and uses they/them pronouns, was the talk of the town at last year's Australian Fashion Week after they arrived with an entourage of minders to carry their dress at Sydney 's Carriageworks. Now, Jamie is dominating chatter at the annual fashion event again, and this time for wearing a brand that has long been under scrutiny. Jamie arrived at day two of the much-anticipated event wearing a dress from fast-fashion brand Shein. The brand has been shrouded in controversy for years following allegations of large-scale environmental impacts and the copying of designs from other, often smaller, fashion labels. The brown-hued, fringe frock, which retails for $69.95 on Shein, is seemingly a knock-off of the $3,945 Hervé Léger fringed bandage gown. Jamie even gave Shein a shout-out in a recent Instagram post, crediting the brand for the dress, which they wore in the accompanying photo. This year, Australian Fashion Week has pushed a strong message of sustainability with various shows, initiatives and installations, including an eBay pre-loved fashion pop-up at Carriageworks. Which is why the dress didn't land well with other attendees of the event. During an interview with Pedestrian TV, when Jamie was asked who they considered a 'mico-influencer boss', they named Sopha Dopha aka Sophia Begg. However, the statement was taken to heart by her fans, who leapt to her defence and slammed the influencer and their choice of dress in the comments of the video. 'Jamie literally wore a dress from Shein to day two. I don't think they're in a position to sit on a high horse about fashion,' one person wrote. Another chimed in: 'This!! So sick of certain people on a high horse because they're more creative or fashionable than someone else and the audacity to wear Shein. It's astounding.' Sophia later vented in a GRWM video on TikTok about the moment, saying: 'I got named as one of them (mico-influencer boss) by someone who wore Shein to Australian Fashion Week, so not sure what that's about.' The video has since been deleted. Jamie has sent tongues wagging this week in an array of jaw-dropping ensembles. The content creator wore a lacy red dress over a pair of red slacks and sky-high red heels as they attended AFW at Carriageworks on Tuesday. Jamie also took to wearing Crocs in one of their looks, paired with a green, sleeveless dress over a patterned button-up shirt. The fashion-forward influencer also took to wearing a textured dress and trousers in a powder blue hue, paired with a sequinned handbag platform heels. Jamie set the tone for the week on Monday after making their AFW 2025 grand debut wearing a wedding dress held up by four assistants. The women held up Azzopardi's voluminous frock which featured a long, flowing train. Azzopardi recruited four minders to hold up the elaborate frock which featured a ruffled neckline and sheer panels with pearl details. The dress was belted at the waist and also featured layers of tulle around a beaded bodice. Jamie wore a pair of sunglasses which had matching pearls and included a long pair of black boots. It comes after Azzopardi arrived at Australian Fashion Week last year in an elaborate Edwardian-style outfit - before hitting back at their critics. Azzopardi made an outrageous arrival at Carriageworks in Sydney flanked by an entourage of minders, to which Married At First Sight star Carolina Santos couldn't resist commenting on social media. 'What the f*** is that? Does Jamie think [they] are at the Met Gala or something? Why are people holding [their] clothes?' she said at the time. Speaking exclusively to Daily Mail Australia at the event last year, Jamie clapped back at Carolina's comment. 'Carolina, I do have a question because you have a lot to say about me: I just want to know, what do you know about the Met Gala?'

Dressed in the dark? Controversial influencer dons Gen Z 'maximalist' trend at Australian Fashion Week with two dresses layered on top of each other - after showing up in wedding gown held up by four assistants

Jamie Azzopardi never misses the opportunity to stand out at Australian Fashion Week. The controversial influencer, 27, sported not one, but two different dresses layered over each other at the second day of the A-list event. Azzopardi, who is non-binary and uses they/them pronouns, draped a golden satin gown over a long sleeved white shirt for the unusual look. On top of that, Jamie added another satin dress, this time in pearl white and with a feathered bodice. Not skimping on accessories, Jamie had on pearl details at the cuffs and neckline of the shirt, as well as white heels and sunglasses, while carrying a feathered purse. Later that evening, Jamie was back for more shows in an entirely new look - a 1920s style tasselled frock in a chic dark brown with matching high heels. The internet star's look exemplifies the 'maximalist' trend popular with Gen Z fashionistas, particularly on TikTok, which involves layering lots of mismatched items and accessories at once for a deliberate 'dressed in the dark' look. Jamie made a much anticipated return to Australian Fashion week on Monday. The star has once again become the talk of the town after making a typically grand entrance at the 2025 event in Sydney on Monday. The social media sensation wore a bold white gown which resembled a wedding dress - and had four assistants in tow. 'Carolina, I do have a question because you have a lot to say about me: I just want to know, what do you know about the Met Gala?' Jamie turned plenty of heads with their outfit, which consisted of a baby blue ruffled coat with a deep, plunging neckline. The stylist paired the statement garment with a long black skirt and towering high heels. Eyewitnesses described Azzopardi's arrival at Fashion Week 2024 as nothing short of a performance. Dressed in a detailed gown which featured layers of fine fabric and intricate embellishments, the stylist made sure all eyes were on them. Azzopardi's 'minders' were seen constantly adjusting every detail of their attire. They were busy ensuring that not a single fold was out of place as photographers snapped away while Jamie posed up a storm. Australian Fashion Week has gone from one of the country's most prestigious events to one flanked by reality stars, wannabes and micro-influencers. Industry insiders have told Daily Mail Australia last year that designers are taking caution and want nothing to do with 'fame hungry MAFS stars desperate to be seen at fashion week'.
