Wisconsin bear rescued after having its head stuck for over a week
A two-year-old female black bear in northern Wisconsin was successfully freed after wandering for eight days with a plastic jar stuck on her head.
The bear's nearly 50-mile journey sparked widespread concern, prompting tracking efforts by Jamie Morey of the Chequamegon Humane Association and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.
Officials located the bear in Cable, Wisconsin, tranquilized her, removed the plastic jar, and released her back into the wild.
Although underweight at 70 pounds, the bear is expected to recover as food is currently abundant in the woods before winter.
The DNR tagged the bear for identification and urged residents near bear habitats to secure their rubbish to prevent similar incidents.
