Hereford continue perfect start with four-goal home victory
HEREFORD Pegasus maintained their perfect start to the Hellenic League Premier Division campaign following a 4-1 win over Lydney Town AFC on Monday night at the KGD Stadium.
Pegasus are flying high under new manager Jamie Pitman and took their third win in as many league games.
The hosts opened the scoring in the first minute when captain Jordan Williamson met a Harrison Summers cross from the left-hand side of the penalty area at the far post.
The lead was doubled after 20 minutes when Summers curled home a low shot from the edge of the penalty area.
Pegasus netted again three minutes after the interval when Jack Creswell slotted home from close-range after a good passage of play by the home team around the Lydney Town penalty area.
The visitors pulled a goal back after 65 minutes when Kyle Gibbs netted courtesy of a low 20 yard drive.
However, Pegasus re-established their three-goal advantage within two minutes of the restart when Summers netted his second goal of the evening with a 25-yard strike to secure all three points.
Pegasus are not top due to both Droitwich Spa and Corsham Town having played an additional league match.
It was a weekend to forget for Westfields who fell to a 4-0 defeat at Mangotsfield United.
United opened the scoring in the fourth minute before scoring a second on 40 minutes, but also seeing a penalty saved before the break.
The game then got away from Fields and two further goals came before the death.
This weekend only Hereford Pegasus are in league action with a game at Highworth Town, as FA Cup fixtures are also taking place.
