Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Chairing a review meeting, which included officials from Konkan region and highway authorities, at Mantralaya, Pawar announced a Rs 21-crore provision for immediate road works near Indapur-Mangaon on the highway. He also told officials to form a state-level committee under public works minister Shivendraraje Bhosale to fast-track four-laning, repair works, bridge construction and installation of road safety measures. "During Ganeshotsav, thousands of people travel to their villages via this route. All agencies must coordinate for smooth management. Construction activities that were causing traffic congestion must be either expedited to complete before the festival or briefly halted during it. The district administrations of Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg should strictly plan traffic flow, inspect congestion-prone spots and ensure medical facilities and emergency systems must be made available along the highway, especially on ghat roads and sharp turns," Pawar said. PWD minister Bhosale, who had inspected the road ahead of the meeting, told TOI that the meeting has given directions and the committee will be formed and works carried out accordingly. The deputy CM said immediate action on pothole complaints must be taken and two special officers will be appointed to promptly fill dangerous potholes, with their contact numbers shared publicly to report issues. The plan includes installing directional signage, constructing bridges, setting up trauma care centres and building toilets at 40-km intervals along the route. Activist representatives, including Janakrosh Samiti chairperson Ajay Yadavrao, Baliraja Sena president Ashok Valam and Prakash Bhangrath, attended the meet via video conferencing.
