Meat sale to be banned on Ram Path and Parikrama Margs in Ayodhya, says Mayor Tripathi
Ayodhya (Uttar Pradesh) [India], June 1 (ANI): Ayodhya officials have begun action to ban meat sales along key religious routes like Ram Path and Dharma 14 Kosi Marg, issuing notices to shopkeepers after complaints were raised at CM Yogi Adityanath's Janata Darbar. Ayodhya Mayor Girish Pati Tripathi also informed that a liquor ban is also being planned. Speaking to ANI on Saturday, Mayor Tripathi said that discussions regarding the ban had been ongoing for a long time. 'It was under discussion for a very long time that the sale of meat be banned in Ayodhya. It was decided that the sale of meat must be prohibited on Ram Path,' said Tripathi. He added that steps would soon be taken to prohibit the sale of liquor in the same areas. 'We are sure that we will soon ban liquor sale too...,' he told ANI. Earlier, Food and Fertiliser Commissioner Manik Chand informed that the issue came to light during Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's Janata Darbar, when a complaint was lodged regarding meat shops in across Ram Path, Bhakti Path, Dharma Path and 14 Kosi Marg. Following the complaint, a team was formed to inspect the shops. Commissioner Chand confirmed that 22 meat shops were found running across these religious routes. 'A complaint was received during CM Yogi Adityanath's Janata Darbar that meat shops are running on Ram Path, Dharma 14 Kosi Parikrama Marg and Panchkosi Marg. We formed a team and inspected all the shops.', Commissioner Chand told ANI. 'All the meat shops are being issued notices, and they have been given a 7-day time limit to relocate their shops somewhere else. Action will be taken if they fail to do so... There are 22 meat shops on Ram Path, Bhakti Path and Dharma Path and 14 Kosi Marg... If there are any other shops, they will also face a similar procedure,' Chand said. Earlier in March, the Uttar Pradesh government, headed by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, had issued strict orders to shut down illegal slaughterhouses and enforce a ban on the sale of meat within a 500-meter radius of religious sites. A strict ban on animal slaughter and meat sales will be enforced on April 6, 2025, during Ram Navami. Under the UP Municipal Corporation Act, 1959, and the Food Safety Acts of 2006 & 2011, the Yogi government has directed officials to take strict action against violators. (ANI)

Bawankule warns officials against delays in public works
1 2 3 Nagpur: In a firm message to the district administration , revenue and guardian minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule directed officials to prioritise all public works without delay, stressing that govt responsiveness must be visible at the grass roots level. Speaking at the Janata Darbar held at the Niyojan Bhawan on Sunday, Bawankule said the administration should embody the govt's role as a welfare state by addressing citizen issues swiftly and efficiently. "If local problems are resolved at the tehsil or department level, people won't need to come to a Janta Darbar ," he said, clearly frustrated by the large number of unresolved grievances brought forward. The public outreach programme drew a significant crowd, with citizens submitting representations on issues ranging from incomplete Pandan (village) roads, encroachments on agricultural land, and irregularities in the Gharkul housing scheme to persistent water shortages, healthcare gaps, and revenue-related complaints. Bawankule reminded officials that many people do not deal with govt offices daily but turn to them in times of genuine need, especially farmers facing crop losses due to natural disasters. "If the work falls within the rules, start it immediately. Don't make them run around," he said. The minister warned of strict action against any officer or department that fails to act on representations received during the Janta Darbar. "Don't make citizens come back asking who's responsible. That will not be tolerated," he said. All departmental heads in the district were present and instructed to act without bureaucratic delay.

Goons terrorising Uday Nagar, residents seek CM help
Nagpur: Residents of Uday Nagar have sought the help of chief minister Devendra Fadnavis regarding a local goon and his gang who were terrorising the area for a long time. They raised the issue with the CM during the Janata Darbar. Naresh Singh Thakur, a resident, shared his concerns and claimed that a local goon and his gang were terrorising the neighbourhood, issuing threats, and engaging in illegal activities with no action from authorities. "We face threats to our lives on an almost daily basis, right from elderly people to young girls," Thakur said. "We've already lodged more than three FIRs against him and his gang, yet no action has been taken by the police. " Thakur emphasised that despite repeated complaints, the authorities failed to provide any protection or take concrete steps to curb the menace. He added that fear gripped the residents, especially women and children, who are afraid to step out. They alleged that the accused continues to roam freely, encouraged by the lack of police action. Some even hinted at possible political backing, which might be shielding the criminal from facing consequences.

Retired army officer denied police constable job despite topping exam
Nagpur: Retired Naik Subedar Lakhan Baghel , an ex-serviceman from the Indian Army's artillery division, has approached chief minister Devendra Fadnavis seeking intervention after being disqualified from the Maharashtra police constable recruitment process, despite topping the examination in the Scheduled Caste ex-servicemen category. Baghel, who served the nation from 2001 until his retirement in December 2022, appeared for the police constable recruitment exam for the 2022-23 batch. In July 2024, he excelled in the physical test, securing a perfect 50 out of 50, followed by a score of 53 out of 100 in the written exam conducted on July 28. Despite his outstanding performance and Army background, he was disqualified due to a criminal case filed in 2011 by his in-laws, which led to charges under BNS Sections 498(A), 324, and 506 related to domestic violence and assault. Baghel clarified that the matter was a family dispute and that the Nagpur District Court acquitted him of all charges in 2016. "The case is behind me. I was declared not guilty. Yet, that old incident is being used against me," said Baghel. During the application process, Baghel marked 'No' in the column asking whether he was ever arrested, stating he believed his acquittal and clean legal record made the answer appropriate. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Viral Video: मृत्यू कसाही येऊ शकतो! सीसीटीव्हीत कैद झाली काळीज पिळवटणारी घटना Latest News Read More Undo However, recruitment authorities cited the past FIR as grounds for rejection, ignoring the subsequent acquittal. The retired officer made several attempts to appeal the decision, including formal representations to the Chief Secretary and the Principal Secretary of the Home Department, but received no response. As a last resort, he raised the issue directly with CM Fadnavis during the Janata Darbar held on Saturday. "CM sir assured me that he would personally look into the matter," said Baghel. A former English-medium student who completed the required recruitment course in Marathi, Baghel emphasised his willingness and readiness to serve Maharashtra in a new capacity. "After over 20 years in uniform, all I ask for is fair treatment. My only wish is to serve again—this time as a police constable," he said.

Taxi union appeals to CM to address drivers' woes
Nagpur: The Vidarbha App-Based Taxi Union (VABTU), representing thousands of taxi drivers in Nagpur, submitted a strong appeal to CM Devendra Fadnavis during his Janata Darbar held at Hyderabad House on Saturday. The union expressed deep frustration over the govt's failure to address their pressing concerns despite multiple petitions and personal representations. In a letter addressed to the CM, VABTU president Deepak Sane lamented that their earlier submission on April 20, 2025, along with numerous follow-ups, went unanswered. "If the administration cannot respond to genuine grievances, what is the purpose of Janata Darbar?" he questioned. The union criticised the govt for prioritising its own interests and issuing government resolutions (GRs) without resolving core issues faced by taxi drivers, many of whom invested heavily in their vehicles through loans. They also condemned the recent approval to bike taxis, stating it does not address the livelihood concerns of traditional taxi drivers. Further, VABTU demanded that cab aggregators like Ola, Uber, and Rapido be directed to comply with state regulations on taxi fares and ensure driver safety as per govt guidelines. Sane urged the CM to either take immediate corrective action or allow him to set own taxi ablaze outside the CM's residence as a form of protest. The union's appeal highlights the growing unrest among taxi drivers struggling to sustain their livelihood amid competition from app-based bike taxis and the lack of govt support. Autorickshaw drivers too condemned the state govt for allowing app-based bike taxis, stating if started they would die of starvation.
