Indira Canteen a model programme for India: DGR
Mangaluru: Indira Canteens, which provide affordable meals to the public is a model initiative for the country as they offer real benefits to the poor and working class, said DK district minister Dinesh Gundu Rao.
The Minister was speaking after inaugurating Indira Canteens at Moodbidri, Kinnigoli, and Mulki on Wednesday.
At Moodbidri, he said that the vision of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi was to ensure that govt welfare schemes directly benefit the poor. Chief minister Siddaramaiah, drawing from his own experiences of childhood hunger, launched Indira Canteens with the aim that no poor or vulnerable individual should go hungry, and that the benefits of govt schemes should reach them directly, he said.

Karnataka
. In the Moodbidri assembly constituency, four Indira Canteens have been sanctioned, and the ones at Moodbidri, Kinnigoli, and Mulki were inaugurated on Wednesday. The one at Bajpe will be inaugurated soon, he added.
The minister further assured that development will be carried out equally across all assembly constituencies in the district.

Minster receives petitions
The minister also participated in the public grievances meeting held at the Kinnigoli Church Hall. He said that the chief minister has directed that Janata Darshans be conducted in all taluk and hobli centres across the state to address public concerns. In line with this directive, public grievances are being heard in various towns, he said.
The minister stressed that officials must respond promptly to the grievances received during Janata Darshans and initiate corrective measures without delay. No laxity in addressing the issues will be tolerated, he warned. He further stated that all regions will be treated equally in terms of development, and any shortcomings will be rectified. Moodbidri MLA Umanath Kotian presided over the event.
