Krishna Janmashtami is one of the most significant festivals of Hindus. The day holds a great religious and spiritual importance in Hindu Religion. People wait for this beautiful festival when they all can celebrate the birth anniversary of Lord Krishna, another form of Lord Vishnu. This festival includes a lot of decoration and a large number of people come together to celebrate the festival and offer their prayers to Shri Krishna. Janmashtami Puja is conducted by all Hindus with great enthusiasm and fervor. The festival is celebrated across the country with great grandeur. This year, the celebration of Janmashtami will be conducted on Ashtami Tithi of Krishna Paksha in the month of Bhadrapada i.e., on August 16, 2025. Here, in this article we are going to explain the Puja vidhi of this amazing festival and how you should organise the puja on this very day so let's read all this in detail: Puja Essential for Janmashtami Celebration: 1. Baal Gopal 2. Swing 3. Idol of Lord Krishna 4. Red beeautiful clothe 5. Panchamrit (milk, curd, honey, sugar, ghee) 6. Fruits 7. Dry Fruits 8. Ghee Lamp 9. Rice 10. Tulsi Patra 11. Garland of flowrs 12. Clothes for Lord Krishna & Baal Gopal 13. Incense Sticks 14. Bhog Prasadam 15. Mishri 16. Makkhan Step-by-Step Puja Vidhi for Janmashtami 2025: Wake up early morning Devotees should wake up early in the morning, clean the house and take holy bath before starting puja rituals. Wear nice clean clothes. Give Bath to idol First give bath to Laddoo Gopal Ji and also if you have an idol of Lord Krishna with normal water or rose water. You should also give them bath with panchamrit. Adorn the idol Adorn the idol with new clothes, jwellery that includes, mukut, hair, mor pankh, garland, bangles, and flute. Lighting a diya Place an idol on a wooden plank and place a red colored cloth, spread on that plank then place an idol of Ladoo Gopal ji and Lord Krishna on that then light a diya with desi ghee and light incense sticks. Apply tilak and chandan After lighting a diya, first apply chandan tilak and kumkum tilak on the forehead of the Lord. Place the kumkum at the lord's feet also. Invoke the idol After lighting a diyaa, you need to invoke the idol by chanting mantras or singing bhajans. Mantra chanting Manra chanting is very important to seek blessings of the Lord. You can chant "Om Namo Bhagvate Vasudevaye" or Shri Krishna Maha Mantra - "Hare Ram Hare Ram Ram Ram Hare Hare Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare" Prepare Bhog Devotees prepare various bhog items for Lord Krishna such as kheer, halwa, different types of panjeeri, aand laddoos. Offer five different seasonal fruits, dry fruits, panchamrit, makkhan and mishri to Lord Krishna. Tulsi patra should be there for bhog prasadam as without tulsi patra, puja is considered incomplete. Midnight Janmashtami Puja During midnight, devotees should come together and sing bhajans and perform aarti to celebrate the birth anniversary of Lord Krishna. Offer Tulsi Patra, and other bhog prasadam to Shri Krishna. Fast Breaking Ritual Devotees can break their fast after performing all the puja rituals after midnight but they are advised to have sattvik food or they can break their fast with bhog prasadam otherwise some people break their fast next day after the parana time. Devotees are advised to follow the puja rituals as advised above. They should stay sattvik whole day and avoid speaking ill to anyone to seek blessings of the lord on this grand celebration of Shri Krishna Janmashtami.
