Kansas City Chiefs TE Jared Wiley reflects on his injury recovery process

During Monday's training camp press conference, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Jared Wiley reflected on his mindset in rehab for his injury last season. "Just happy to be back. Honestly, it's tough to go through, definitely a humbling experience, but you know, to be able to be back out here and play the game that I love. It's been great." said Wiley "I mean, just knowing that, any snap could be your last for that season, or however long you'll be out, you know, just when you're feeling pretty good last year, you almost feel like you kind of made it a little bit, and something like that happens, it kind of dials you back a little bit." The 24-year-old recorded one reception for seven yards last season, spending most of his time on special teams for Kansas City. He would reveal his mindset while unable to play last year after the injury. I mean figuring out really kind of who I was outside of football, to be honest with you, like I said earlier, just having something like that stripped away from you, and then kind of having to find a way to, still stay involved as much as you can." said Wiley, "You really feel like you're missing out, again, to watch these guys play on Sundays and sit at the house just kind of feet kick back. That sucked" Wiley earned first-team All-Big 12 honors in 2023 for TCU. He had 47 receptions for 520 yards and eight touchdowns. He was expected to have a significant role as a rotational tight end in Kansas City's offense before suffering a torn ACL that prematurely ended his rookie season.

After being blown out in the Super Bowl last season by the Philadelphia Eagles, they want to get back to the top of the league. With Patrick Mahomes leading the way, the Chiefs will always be viewed as a top-tier Super Bowl contender. That is no different this season. Andy Reid and Kansas City have put together a talented offense around their superstar quarterback. Travis Kelce decided to return for at least one more season and the Chiefs currently have a stacked wide receiver room. McCarthy News Before Preseason Opener That being said, Kansas City has revealed a concerning update regarding an offensive weapon. Jared Wiley, who was selected by the Chiefs in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft with the No. 131 overall pick, has been working his way back from a torn ACL. A new update has given reason for fans to be slightly concerned about him. In a recent press conference, Reid opened up and shared that Wiley has been dealing with some swelling in his surgically repaired knee. "Yeah, he's got a little swelling in there, so we've just got to watch that," Reid said. "We were trying to limit his reps and ease him in, but it would swell up a little bit, so we're just keeping an eye on him." Obviously, that is not great news. However, this is common in knee surgery situations. As long as Kansas City handles him with caution, he should be fine. Kansas City Chiefs tight end Jared Wiley reveals engagement in intimate photoshoot as Travis Kelce celebrates

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Jared Wiley has announced he has got engaged to his girlfriend Estelle Czech. The 24-year-old Wiley is an understudy to Travis Kelce, whose own relationship with Taylor Swift has been subject to ongoing engagement rumors since the couple went public back in September 2023. Wiley shared an array of pictures of his proposal to Czech on social media, to which he captioned: 'Can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you.' And his post has been liked by none other than Kelce himself. Czech is a pro softball player who competes for the Texas Longhorns and used to play for NC State. Wiley, meanwhile, had a difficult 2024 campaign that ended back in November when he tore his ACL in practice in what Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said was a 'freak injury'. View this post on Instagram A post shared by J Wilin (@jaredwiley) Up to then, he had spent most of his time on special teams for the Chiefs and had recorded one reception for seven yards in his rookie year. 'Wiley at practice tore his ACL, non-contact, and it's one of those freak things,' Reid explained. 'So he'll go through that whole process.' Before that, Wiley shocked fans by revealed he had never heard a Taylor Swift song before he found out he would be backing up her boyfriend on the Chiefs roster. 'I'm not going to sit here and lie,' he said. 'I've probably never heard one of her songs or anything like that, but I think it's the coolest thing ever that she's at the game. She attracts more fans and more publicity to the team.' Kelce, meanwhile, returned to the spotlight with a bang last week by appearing in Philadelphia alongside Swift for Mother's Day last Sunday. It had been months since the high-profile couple were spotted together, with Kelce only being seen by himself since the Super Bowl back in February. He followed his Mother's Day efforts with an appearance in New York on Monday night for an Amazon Prime event at the prestigious Beacon Theater in Manhattan. He was joined by his older brother, Jason. Kelce was not, however, impressed with the NFL schedule that dropped in the middle of last week - he was unhappy that he, Wiley and his team start the season in Sao Paulo, Brazil against Los Angeles Chargers. Wiley caused a stir last year when he said he didn't know any of Taylor Swift's music 'There's just something about getting close to the equator, I don't want to put on football uniform,' Kelce, 35, said. 'I've been in Jacksonville in September, that's f***ing miserable. 'Sao Paulo, is that by the water? I'd rather it be dry than humid, I'm a sweaty guy. If it is humid, I am going to be miserable. But I am going to find a way to get a win.' The Chiefs will be in Brazil on September 5 for that game against their divisional rival in a schedule that will also see them play on Thanksgiving and Christmas Day.
