New Photo of Coveted Star Emerges Sparking Georgia Rumors
New Photo of Coveted Star Emerges Sparking Georgia Rumors originally appeared on Athlon Sports. One four-star recruit has been around the Georgia Bulldogs football program for years. But the Bulldogs have had to court the prospect just like everyone else. Advertisement On Saturday, though, four-star defensive lineman PJ Dean provided a little peak into what he would look like donning a Bulldogs uniform. "4-star DL PJ Dean sporting the Georgia uniform on his official visit," On3's Jeremy Johnson wrote as a social media caption to a picture of Dean in the black Georgia uniform. Over the weekend, Dean was set to work with Bulldogs defensive line coach Tray Scott. Dean was complimentary of the coach while speaking to Johnson before the visit. 'It's been smooth because coach Scott is a likable coach,' Dean told Johnson. 'He's definitely a cool, even-keeled guy. I was in the defensive line room, there wasn't really a lot of yelling going on. Advertisement "It was more of a stern, just, hey, he's teaching you. That's just the way he goes about things. I feel like all of them go about it like that, but he goes about it. I love it.' Georgia Bulldogs football head coach Kirby Smart© Stephen Lew-Imagn Images Dean's older brother, Jared Wilson, started at center for the Bulldogs last season. In April, the New England Patriots drafted Wilson in the third round. Originally, Dean was set to become an offensive lineman in college as well. But he recently switched his focus to defense. With his brother playing for the program, the Bulldogs could have the inside track on Dean. However, On3's Recruiting Prediction Machine projects the Ohio State Buckeyes to land the defensive lineman. Advertisement According to the 247 Sports composite rankings, Dean is the No. 7 defensive lineman and 68th-ranked recruit overall in the 2026 class. So it felt like the right time to revisit the ratings for the New England Patriots' 2025 rookies from last year's game. The Patriots had arguably the best draft class on paper after using a plethora of picks to land 11 prospects on the board. They focused on need out of the gate by addressing the offensive line with left tackle Will Campbell and center/interior offensive lineman Jared Wilson. The team also upgraded their weapons on offense by adding Ohio State running back TreVeyon Henderson and Washington State wide receiver Kyle Williams. They also added more talent on defense by drafting safety Craig Woodson, defensive tackle Joshua Farmer and edge rusher Bradyn Swinson. Some of these rookies could become future stars for the Patriots. Let's take a look at their ratings from EA's College Football 25. 2025 NFL Draft: Identifying Patriots' Best And Worst Draft Selection
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. The New England Patriots had a fantastic draft in 2025. The team selected a whopping 11 players, and several of these players should be in a position to contribute immediately. Head coach Mike Vrabel of the New England Patriots speaks to the media during the NFL Scouting Combine at the Indiana Convention Center on February 25, 2025. Head coach Mike Vrabel of the New England Patriots speaks to the media during the NFL Scouting Combine at the Indiana Convention Center on February 25, the first round, the team stood pat and selected arguably the best offensive lineman in the draft in Will Campbell. Campbell should be the team's left tackle of the future after starring at LSU in college. In the second round, the team added talented Ohio State running back TreVeyon Henderson. Henderson could immediately challenege Rhamondre Stevenson for the starting gig thanks to his versatily and toughness. Elsewhere, the team added quality prospects like Washington State wide receiver Nick Williams, Georgia offensive lineman Jared Wilson, and LSU edge-rusher Bradyn Swinson, among others. Now, let's identify the best and worst pick the team made last weekend. This was a solid draft class, so it may be hard to find the worst pick. Best: Round 3, Pick 69- Kyle Williams, WR, Washington State While Campbell fills an obvious need and could end up being an elite player, it would be too easy to go with that pick. Instead, we'll go with third-round pick Kyle Williams. Williams is a solid route-runner already with sure hands and the quickness to get open across the middle. The Patriots desperately need to get better at wide receiver, and Williams helps the team do that. Quarterback Drake Maye showed flashes as a rookie in 2024, but his supporting cst needs to be upgraded. Stefon Diggs was brought in this offseason, and now the veteran and rookie Williams should give Maye a reliable pass-catching duo. Williams easily could've gone higher, too, so this pick not only fills a need, but represents great value as well. Worst: Round 3, Pick 95- Jared Wilson, C, Georgia It's hard to identify the team's worst pick considering I like this class a lot. However, if I had to pick the worst pick, it would have to be Jared Wilson in the third round. Wilson is a fine player, but the team did add reliable veteran Garrett Bradbury at center this offseason. Wilson is a solid backup option and could eventually take over for Bradbury, but a third-round pick could've been used more wisely. For example, Notre Dame safety Xavier Watts was surprisingly still available when the team took Wilson. Watts impressed at Notre Dame and could've been a nice addition to the Patriots' secondary. Another smart pick would've been edge-rusher Sai'vion Jones or wide receiver Tai Felton instead of a backup center.

Patriots draft Georgia center Jared Wilson
Patriots draft Georgia center Jared Wilson Georgia's third offensive lineman heard his name called on Day 2 of the 2025 NFL draft when with the 95th pick, the New England Patriots selected Georgia center Jared Wilson. Wilson is an extremely athletic center. When he was signed by the Georgia Bulldogs as a three-star prospect and he didn't earn the starting role until 2024. He backed up Sedrick Van Pran-Granger during the Bulldogs' run to the 2022 national championship. After Van Pran-Granger was drafted in the 2024 NFL draft, Wilson became the starter. He played 13 of the 14 games in 2023, and in 2024 he earned a Coaches' Second-Team All-SEC selection in his only season as the starter. He also earned a 79.4 offensive blocking grade, including an 84.9 pass-blocking grade. He had the third-best PFF grade out of all Georgia offensive players. Many people were surprised when Wilson declared for the 2025 NFL draft, especially when he didn't go to the Senior Bowl. However, the combine sold many people on his draft prospects. He earned the fastest time for any center in the combine on both his first (4.90) and second (4.84) run in the 40-yard dash. His freakish athleticism earned him the distinction of the best center in the draft. The Patriots desperately needed offensive line help to protect Drake Maye. They picked LSU tackle Will Campbell with the fourth overall pick, and now with Wilson, they fortify the interior offensive line. Wilson is the sixth Georgia Bulldog selected in the NFL draft. He joins Mykel Wiliams, Jalon Walker, Malaki Starks, Tate Ratledge, and Dylan Fairchild in being drafted on the first two days.
