Clemson HC Dabo Swinney shares injury update on Adam Randall, multiple Tigers in camp

Clemson football's second scrimmage of fall camp brought encouraging news for one position group, but also highlighted a few lingering injury situations as the countdown to the season opener against No. 9 LSU continues. Senior running back Adam Randall was back in action Thursday after missing some practice time earlier in the week with a minor injury. The former wide receiver, who transitioned to the backfield ahead of last year's College Football Playoff game against Texas, didn't waste time making his presence felt. According to Dabo Swinney, Randall broke free for a 50-plus yard run early in the scrimmage and added several other chunk plays throughout the day. With Jarvis Green already sidelined long term and Jay Haynes still rehabbing from last December's ACL injury, Randall's health will be vital for a position group that can't afford another major setback. While Randall was making plays, the Tigers were without veteran right guard Walker Parks, who suffered an injury during the first scrimmage last weekend. Swinney said the fifth-year senior is expected to be ready for the opener, but the staff has contingency plans in place. Junior Harris Sewell, a former Top 100 prospect with eight career starts, and sophomore Elyjah Thurmon, who has worked at all five spots on the offensive line, have been getting work at right guard. Parks has battled through adversity before, missing most of the 2023 season before returning to start all 14 games last fall and earning third-team All-ACC honors. In the secondary, junior safety Khalil Barnes remains limited by a minor injury that has kept him out for over a week. Barnes participated in situational work Thursday but did not see live snaps. The Georgia native quickly became one of Clemson's most impactful defenders as a freshman in 2023, earning All-American recognition with three interceptions, three forced fumbles and a defensive touchdown. He followed that up last year by leading the team with four picks, becoming the first Tiger to reach that mark since 2019. Clemson now shifts its focus to the final stretch of camp, hoping to have its key contributors healthy and ready when the Tigers take the field against LSU on August 30.
