The largest data center in the US is coming to this rural Utah county

FILLMORE, Utah () — In early June, Millard County approved a rezone that will bring the world's largest data center to central Utah. On June 3, 2025, the Millard County Commission unanimously voted in favor of a rezone, appropriating over 1,100 acres of agricultural land to heavy industrial. The center would be house high-density data banks which can be leased to major tech corporations for a number of uses including artificial intelligence. The applicant is a management company called Fibernet MercuryDelta, LLC. The company was only created in 2022, but last month reported almost $15.2 million in annual sales. Rezoning the property paved the way for Fibernet MercuryDelta to construct what they're calling the largest data center in the U.S. The property in question is found near the intersection of 4500 South and Highway 50 in Delta. One nearby resident of the potential data center, Kyle Ashby, voiced concerns over water usage. 'What's troubling is the actual amount of water hasn't been clearly defined or publicly released.' Millard County has approved a multi-billion dollar artificial intelligence data center Jarvis Jones, another nearby resident, feels the project could set a dangerous precedent. 'This zoning could create a domino effect, inviting further industrial development,' Jones said during the June commission meeting. Millard County commissioners pointed to economic benefits in favor of the data center, including Commissioner Bill Wright who highlighted the 'significant benefits a large company could bring to the county.' Wright says benefits could include job creation and increased tax revenue. The project is not the only one of its kind coming to Millard County. On Aug. 5, 2025, the that will bring another major data center to the county. Fibernet MercuryDelta now only needs a conditional use permit before beginning construction. This is a developing story. ABC4 will update this post as new information becomes available. PFF fixes huge Steelers mistake in redraft

If you were making a list of the worst Pittsburgh Steelers NFL draft picks in the last 15 years, you won't get very far down the list before you get to edge rusher Jarvis Jones. Jones had bust written all over him from the moment he was drafted and it didn't take long for everyone to realize this guy just wasn't an NFL player. Jones appeared in 50 games with 35 starts over his four NFL seasons. Why the Steelers kept trotting him out there is beyond us but he was only able to muster six career sacks in four seasons. Advertisement Pro Football Focus went all the way back to 2013 and, using their grades, re-drafted the first round of the NFL draft. This means for the Steelers, instead of landing Jones, they got defensive tackle Kawann Short. Short played in 99 games with 76 starts. He established himself as one of the best interior defensive linemen in the league during his eight seasons and while he only had 32.5 sacks was one of the best run defenders during that stretch. Interestingly, if you did this re-draft and selected only the same position as the original pick, the Steelers would have taken Ziggy Ansah. Ansah tumbles in this scenario, having gone No. 5 overall in 2013. Ansah never became an elite pass rusher but in eight seasons had 50.5 sacks and had double-digit sacks just twice. The injury bug hit Ansah hard in his final few seasons, limiting his overall production. This article originally appeared on Steelers Wire: PFF fixes huge Steelers mistake in 2013 NFL redraft

Former Steelers 2013 first-rounder earns high school head coaching position

Former Steelers 2013 first-round pick and UGA legend Jarvis Jones was just named the head coach for Carver-Columbus High School. Jones had a terrific college career after leaving USC for Georgia — accumulating 28 sacks, 45 tackles for loss, and nine forced fumbles from 2011 to 2012 in just 26 games. Advertisement Jones' elite collegiate production resulted in the Steelers acquiring him with the 17th overall pick in the first round of the 2013 NFL Draft — but he didn't find similar success at the next level. Pittsburgh declined Jones' fifth-year option and wouldn't re-sign him at the conclusion of the 2015 season — which would ultimately be the last time he ever played in the NFL. The former Steeler would ultimately return to UGA in 2019 to earn a degree in Human Development and Family Science — and Jones would begin his coaching career with Georgia soon after. Here's to Jones finding success as the new head coach of Carver-Columbus High School. Former UGA All-American accepts head coach role with Georgia high school

Former UGA All-American accepts head coach role with Georgia high school The Georgia football program often brings back former players to its coaching staff, with Jarvis Jones, currently the assistant outside linebacker coach, being one such example. Jones has now accepted the head coach position for the Carver-Columbus High School football team which is his alma mater. Jones had been at Georgia under Kirby Smart for six seasons. Jones was apart of the 2009 recruiting class, is a former four-star recruit, and won his high school's first state championship in 2007. He began his college career at USC before transferring to the Georgia Bulldogs. In just two seasons in Athens, he accumulated an impressive 28 sacks, 47 tackles for loss, and 168 tackles. His outstanding performance earned him SEC Defensive Player of the Year honors in 2012, two-time consensus All-American status in both 2011 and 2012, and two selections to the First Team All-SEC. Jones was a first-round draft pick in the 2017 NFL draft. He spent the first four years of his NFL career with the Pittsburgh Steelers, where he accumulated 128 tackles and four sacks. Jones played on Carver's first state championship-winning team in 2007 and returns in trying to lead the program to a third state title after earning a second in 2024. He will look to try to become a back-to-back state champion in his first season as a head coach. What Jarvis Jones said to his new team Jones spoke to his new team days after Pierre Coffey, who was Carver's head coach last season, accepted a new job. "It's gonna be hard work,' Jones said. 'It's gonna be dedication. We're gonna get it done, man. We're gonna find ways to get it done." Jones has gained a lot of valuable experience from Kirby Smart and the rest of the Georgia coaching staff over the years. He's ready to take the next step with a talented Carver squad that has three of the top 100 recruits in Georgia. "Everybody looks at the physical side of football, but once you start improving the mental side, it leads to longevity,' added Jones. 'That's what I want to build. I want to build young men, athletes second."
