What to know about each Indiana basketball player from Game 2 comeback in Puerto Rico

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico – Indiana basketball overcame an ugly start to turn in a dominant win Saturday, 93-71, over Serbian side Mega Superbet. Here's how individual Hoosiers fared as Darian DeVries' team came back from 23 points down. (Players listed numerically) Jasai Miles: Looked more patient and found his offense through that patience. Provided some really important minutes and possessions defensively, especially as Indiana tried to solve Mega's size advantage. A good game from the bench. Indiana basketball in Puerto Rico: IU vs Mega Superbet live score updates, stats on Aug. 9 Reed Bailey: Flashed the polished outside-in game that made him so difficult to handle at Davidson. Will be interesting to see how his role evolves with more shooters and scorers around him, but he had a stretch in the first half that turned into a personal 6-0 run. It flashed his mismatch potential and helped ignite what eventually became a mammoth-sized comeback for Indiana. Lamar Wilkerson: Once the shots start falling, there's an ease to Wilkerson's offense few other Hoosiers have. He goes through shooting motions — the catch, the steps, the rhythm — so smoothly. Made a few crucial 3s in the comeback, and looked exceptionally comfortable in the second half. Sam Alexis: Energy and effort set a tone in the second quarter IU badly needed. Carried it forward as the comeback developed and got the crowd going with some rim-shaking dunks in the fourth quarter. The dynamic between him and Bailey will be fun to watch. Conor Enright: Fouled out in the third quarter, but not before his energy (and a technical foul to boot) helped spark Indiana's comeback to life. A clearly important voice and character on this team, which is unsurprising. Tayton Conerway: No one was more a victim of Indiana's problems trying to figure out how the game would be refereed in the first 10-12 minutes. Struggled with fouls as well, but came back to provide some important possessions on both sides of halftime. Nick Dorn: Traveled with the team but did not play. Darian DeVries has suggested it will be autumn before Dorn returns to action because of injury. Josh Harris: Not the game for him until late but made the most of some fourth-quarter minutes at both ends of the floor. Trent Sisley: Scored less but still impacted the game. His energy, toughness and versatility are all probably ahead of his years. It continues to be tangible how comfortable he looks on a floor full of more experienced players. Tucker DeVries: Had big plays at both ends of the floor during the second- and third-quarter combined comeback. Made crucial 3s, had a couple important blocks, matched up Mega's bigs and outworked them. A captain's performance. Aleksa Ristic: Had to take on some important minutes because of foul trouble elsewhere. Never looked phased by it. Hit a big 3. Flashed impressive passing vision, albeit sometimes guilty of trying too hard to make what wasn't there. But even against a tougher level of competition, he still looks like a promising player for Indiana. Note: Jason Drake (injury) and Andrej Acimovic (visa) will not be with Indiana during this week's trip.

Revamped IU basketball opens Puerto Rico trip in style. Here's what we learned about each player

CAROLINA, Puerto Rico – The Darian DeVries era at Indiana began with an easy win Wednesday, as the Hoosiers defeated Universidad de Bayamon 98-47. Here are thoughts on each of the new scholarship faces that played in the one-sided rout that kicked off IU's Puerto Rico tour: (Players listed numerically) ∎ Jasai Miles: Struggled to find his way into the action first half offensively, with a couple turnovers and some misses. Looks like a bit of a tweener on this roster, neither quite guard nor wing. Will be interesting to see how his role develops across the autumn. ∎ Reed Bailey: Should be one of Indiana's primary offensive options in all manner of situations. Good in ball screens and with the ball in his hands, even in the open floor. This game won't have tested his rebounding and defensive capacity. ∎ Lamar Wilkerson: Clearly one of Indiana's go-to players. Not just for his scoring talent but because of the way teammates look for and defer to him. The offense runs through him, not around him. If he can make shots at near the level he did at Sam Houston State, that emphasis will be justified. ∎ Sam Alexis: His energy helped snap Indiana out of a first-half malaise. It appears DeVries will rely on him like a starter, even when he plays from the bench, both in terms of minutes and in terms of role. IU seemed particularly intent upon getting him involved in transition. ∎ Conor Enright: Worked hard, and really emphasized moving the ball when he touched it offensively. Maybe it's confirmation bias, but it felt noticeable he was the second-most experienced DeVries-coached player on the floor. ∎ Tayton Conerway: A potentially dangerous two-way player, thanks to a really good offensive feel. But more than that, a tip-of-the-spear defender whose active hands and instincts will keep covers honest this season. Certainly ranked among the most as-advertised top-line new faces Wednesday. ∎ Nick Dorn: Traveled with the team but did not play. Darian DeVries has suggested it will be autumn before Dorn returns to action because of injury. ∎ Josh Harris: Left another solid impression running mostly with the second unit. Showed the same activity and explosiveness we saw last week at open practice. Will need to develop more offensively to compensate for some size limitations but the tools are there. ∎ Trent Sisley: Has a chance to play real minutes for this team. The shot is there. The offensive feel is there. Sisley even looked comfortable defensively, if sometimes better solo than fitting into the wider defensive concepts. The freshman continues to leave a strong early impression. ∎ Tucker DeVries: Clearly this team's most-experienced player, both in terms of years and also time on task in this system. Showcased great feel both in his own offense and in bringing others into the play. Active defensively and on the glass, where Indiana will need him to play bigger than his frame this season if these small lineups persist. Might be this team's best shooter too, at least in terms of rhythm and form. No one exerts greater influence over Indiana right now. ∎ Aleksa Ristic: Played big minutes in the second half, which will do him good given how much practice time he's missed. Handled the ball at point and showed good feel for pace and timing. Got involved around the rim offensively. Easy to see a college prospect there. Note: Jason Drake (injury) and Andrej Acimovic (visa) will not be with Indiana during this week's trip.

UNF loses leading scorer for the second season in a row as Jasai Miles transfers to Indiana

UNF loses leading scorer for the second season in a row as Jasai Miles transfers to Indiana The University of North Florida men's basketball team has lost its leading scorer and third starter from the 2024-25 season, all to larger schools with deeper NIL pockets. Jasai Miles, a 6-foot-6 sophomore, has signed to play with Indiana, the second time in two years that the Ospreys' leading scorer has entered the transfer portal and moved on to a Power Four conference. The news was first reported by University of North Florida guards Jaylen Smith (4) and Jasai Miles (0) celebrate their 77-73 victory over Jacksonville University on Feb. 20. Both are transferring, Smith to East Tennessee and Miles to Indiana. Chaz Lanier left last year for Tennessee. He led the Volunteers in scoring with 18.0 points per game as they went 30-8 and reached the NCAA Tournament's Elite Eight. Advertisement UNF had already lost two other starters, sophomore point guard Jaylen Smith (11.4 points, 5.6 assists per game) to East Tennessee and graduate forward Liam Murphy (13.0 points per game) to Purdue, where he will have one year of eligibility. Freshman forward Josh Harris (13.4 points per game, 7.1 rebounds per game) and senior guard Ametri Moss (5.3 points per game) also are in the portal and expected to move on. Jacksonville University lost its leading scorer, junior guard Robert McCray V, who transferred to Florida State on April 4. McCray was first-team All-ASUN and averaged 16.2 points, 4.8 rebounds and 4.5 assists for the Dolphins. Advertisement The moves mean UNF coach Matthew Driscoll and JU coach Jordan Mincy will have wholesale rebuild jobs for the coming season. Counting graduation losses, the Ospreys will return four players from their 15-17 team, with junior guard Kamrin Oriol (7.3 points per game) the most experienced. The Dolphins could have as many as six players back from their 19-14 season, led by forward Stephon Payne III of Jacksonville (8.4 points per game, 6.3 rebounds per game).
