Inside BGT's Jasmine Rice's life – unrecognisable appearance to hidden heartache

Jasmine Rice wowed both judges and audience when she stepped on the stage during her first audition - and later opened up about the tragic loss she experienced hour before It's almost time for the highly anticipated Britain's Got Talent 2025 final, where 10 acts will take to the stage in hopes of winning a whopping cash prize as well as a chance to perform at the Royal Variety Show. Hoping to make it to the top is hopeful Jasmine Rice. The drag queen opera singer, based in New York, brought the house down with her first audition, but off-screen, it came hours after a secret heartbreak. ‌ The well known drag queen and opera singer Jasmine gained significant recognition after being shouted out by Beyoncé in her Break My Soul (Queens Remix), highlighting her influence within the drag community. ‌ BGT isn't Jasmine's first TV role. The star was also a contestant on drag queen contest DRAD and is a member of the Haus of LaBeija, which also houses other Drag Race royalty including Aja from RuPaul's Drag Race US. Jasmine has a huge social media presence and uses her Instagram to showcase her stunning and extravagant makeup looks, although the star has been known to post on the platform without makeup. The star has previously entertained fans on Instagram live, chatting and getting ready on the platform. ‌ Back onscreen for a moment - and the star's audition left no dry eye in sight as she wowed judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and Bruno Tonioli with her rendition of Nessun dorma, sending her through to the live semi-finals. However, just hours before Jasmine had tragically lost her grandmother. "It totally threw me," Jasmine told the Mirror. ‌ "It was out of the blue. She wasn't sick. She did have dementia. My family - including my grandma - have been such an amazing support system for me to continue singing. I basically thought of that and used that as fuel to continue and try to concentrate and do my best. "How many people can say that they could dedicate a performance to their loved ones on the day that someone passed?," said Jasmine. "It's an anthem for my grandmother as she enters the pearly gates of heaven. I thought 'She's hearing my voice as she flies away'." Following her audition, Jasmine wowed the judges once again during the third semi-final, putting a spin on Never Enough with her undeniable operatic vocals. After leaving Strictly Come Dancing judge Bruno in her audition, he gave her the Golden Buzzer, sending her straight through to the semi-final.

These are the acts in the final of Britain's Got Talent 2025

These are the acts in the final of Britain's Got Talent 2025 Who are the 10 acts that are battling it out to become the winners of Britain's Got Talent 2025 Jasmine Rice won Bruno Tonioli's Golden Buzzer and is on her way to this weekend's grand final. (Image: Tom Dymond for BGT ) We are just days away from the final of Britain's Got Talent 2025 and after three months of auditions and semi finals the line up has been announced. This year's judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon, Bruno Tonioli and guest judge KSI have had their work cut out for them this year as countless acts have competed to earn their spot in the final on Saturday, May 31. The winner of the competition will receive a cash prize of £250,000, the chance to perform at the Royal Variety Performance, the title of Britain's Got Talent Winner 2025 and also they will have major bragging rights. ‌ From magicians to dancers, this year's final definitely has variety. So, who has qualified for the final? For the latest TV and showbiz gossip sign up to our newsletter ‌ Saturday's grand final will feature semi final golden buzzer winner, The Blackouts, Olly Pearson, Jasmine Rice, Joseph Charm and the most recent Harry Moulding, who received a golden buzzer from guest judge KSI. The semi final public vote winners who will be competing in this weekend's final are Vinnie McKee, Stacey Leadbeatter, Ping Pong Pang, Hear Our Voice and nine-year-old dancer Binita. Content cannot be displayed without consent ‌ Apparently, this year's competition is incredible close as very little separates the top two favourite acts, which are the Hear Our Voice choir and The Blackouts. Betfred's Kayley Cornelius said: "Looking at the current odds, it's only a matter of percentages separating the top two favourite acts, suggesting it's going to be a really tight race to see who is crowned this year's winner. At 15/8, Hear Our Voice are just clinging on to the favourite spot, but only just. Telling their emotional story through the power of song, their harmonies have struck a strong chord with viewers at home, and the emotional vote could ultimately sway things in their favour. "However, it's worth noting that up until this week, The Blackouts were the unwavering favourites in the betting markets, and now perched just behind at 2/1, a strong performance on Saturday night could still see them walk away as winners!" ‌ Last week's semi final saw the return of guest judge KSI, making him the fifth judge in the last of the semi finals. However the YouTuber faced criticism after hitting the Golden Buzzer for magician Harry Moulding. Harry's act took an unexpected turn as it ended with a touching proposal, with an audience member being asked the big question in front of judges and live audience. The moment prompted KSI to grant him a fast pass to the final with the coveted Golden Buzzer. This moment, however, was followed by nine year old dancing sensation Binita Chetry, whose performance captivated the nation. Article continues below Viewers voiced their displeasure on social media with one tweeting their frustration that Binita didn't receive the Golden Buzzer: "Really p***es me off thst KSI would use his golden buzzer on a TALENTLESS completely staged act instead of on a 9 year old girl with a genuine gift #bgt." Britain's Got Talent's Jasmine Rice: 'My message to trolls targeting me'

Britain's Got Talent's drag queen Jasmine Rice will return to the Britain's Got Talent stage on Saturday 31 May. Bruno Tonioli chose her for his semi-final Golden Buzzer act. Being propelled into the bright lights of fame, she shares how she has dealt with rejection in the past especially in the opera world. The finalist shares her defiant response to trolls with Yahoo UK. The public reaction to my Britain's Got Talent performances is truly, truly incredible. There are definitely some public who are against who I am, not only as a person but as an artist as well. That's one of my responsibilities to show them, "Hey, this is something that is really fun and exciting and it's all for entertainment purposes and nothing more. You really sit back and enjoy it because there are so many things going on in the world. "I'm just here to take you out of that and bring you to this fantasy land of mine. And just show you that there's so much more in life than what is capable of." But the positive reaction is amazing. Like Simon Cowell says, I found a home and everyone who has really embraced me and accepted me with so much love have really brought me so much hope. Watch Jasmine Rice's Golden Buzzer Britain's Got Talent moment I've been rejected so many times, for someone to finally say, "Hey you're okay! You're right, you're exactly where you need to be here. You belong here." That means the world to me. Life is such a gamble. I did not expect any kind of outcome. I just wanted to be on stage and really take this moment because this is what I've been wanting for and dreaming of my whole life, so I really didn't expect anything from it or have any expectations for it. Before Britain's Got Talent, so many doors have been shut in my face and so many rejections have happened to me because I embrace my femininity and how I embrace my fabulosity. Every single time I would sing, they would critique me on those things specifically and I think opera is fabulous. Opera is opulent and opera is amazing. Now I think especially with everything going on in the world, it's more important to show people how there are so many ways that you can express yourself. I feel like I've been preparing for the Britain's Got Talent final for all my life. The biggest hurdle for me would be the audience. So, I just have to really present myself as a serious artist, someone who will really enjoy this craft and present it to the best of my abilities. I've been doing a lot of preparations, trying to calm myself down because I'm so excited for it! I'm trying to not psych myself. Trying to tell myself that, "Hey, this is what I've been training for, this is what I've been working for." Really I'm trying to stay humble as much as possible and remember that I'm here to share love, joy and connect with the audience on a deeper level for music. The final is such a big moment for me. It's definitely one of the history books for me. Britain's Got Talent has changed and altered my life forever. I don't know what's going to happen in the future but I'm actually excited for it instead of feeling a little bit hopeless as an artist. I'm so excited, I can't wait for the possibilities and this is truly one of those moments where you don't know what's going to happen in your life but you must live it the fullest... I can't wait! My grandmother passed away on the day of my Britain's Got Talent audition. For me singing as she was flying away into the heavens and going through the pearly gates was the biggest moment. The whole audition was an out of body experience. I truly thought that I was surrounded by angels. Honestly, I really didn't necessarily do this for the money. It's just such a privilege and an honour to be on the stage. Britain's Got Talent is truly one of the biggest stages in the world. I've never sung on a stage like this. My childhood dream has come true for me. Jasmine Rice told her story to Lily Waddell. Britain's Got Talent airs on Saturday at 7pm on ITV1.
