Man handed 25-year jail term for raping 5-year-old girl in 2022
A special fast track court sentenced a 28-year-old man to 25 years of rigorous imprisonment on Friday for raping a five-year-old girl after kidnapping her in Bilaspur in August 2022. With all the evidence, the court pronounced the quantum of sentence on Friday. Additional sessions judge Jasmine Sharma also imposed a fine of ₹60,000 after holding the accused guilty under section 6 (aggravated penetrative sexual assault) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and section 365 (kidnapping with intent to wrongfully confine a person) of the Indian Penal Code. Special public prosecutor Sunil Kumar Parmar said that the incident took place in the early hours of August 17, 2022 when the victim with her mother and 13-year-old brother was asleep inside their rented accommodation at Banslambi village in Bilaspur. 'The accused had sneaked inside the house and had taken the girl away. He had then raped her in fields. The mother panicked when she saw her daughter missing in the middle of the night,' he said. Parmar said the mother raised an alarm which alerted the villagers. They found the child crying and suspect hiding in dense vegetation nearby. 'She was subjected to brutality. The girl was able to tell everything in her broken language and hand gestures. Locals later alerted Bilaspur police station and the suspect was arrested,' he said. The prosecutor said that forensic examination of the clothes of the victim and the suspect and medical examination proved that she was raped. 'She had sustained severe injuries in her internal body parts,' he added. With all the evidence, the court pronounced the quantum of sentence on Friday. 'The court observed that the period served in judicial custody by the convict in the course of trial will be set-off from the total period of sentence awarded to him,' he added.

Man sentenced to 20-years of rigorous imprisonment for kidnapping, raping minor girl
A city court sentenced a 22-year-old man to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for kidnapping and raping a minor girl in May 2021, said police officers on Friday. The incident occurred on May 6, 2021. The convict was found guilty under Sections 363 (kidnapping) and 366 (kidnapping with intent to compel marriage) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Section 6 (aggravated penetrative sexual assault) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act. Along with the sentence, the court imposed a fine of ₹50,000 on the convict. Special public prosecutor Sunil Kumar Parmar said the time already spent by the accused in judicial custody will be deducted from the overall sentence, as per court orders. 'The incident occurred on May 6, 2021, when the victim, a Class IX student from a private school in Bilaspur, was found missing by her parents as she failed to leave for school,' Parmar said. After failing to locate her, her father lodged a missing person's complaint with the police. During the investigation, police learned that a man from the same neighbourhood had abducted the girl. However, tracking the duo proved difficult, as the girl did not have a mobile phone, and the accused refrained from using one to avoid detection, officers added. The victim was eventually rescued on July 4, 2021, from Hoshiarpur in Punjab, where she had been held captive. 'Based on her statement, the accused was arrested within hours from Panchgaon Chowk in Manesar,' Parmar said. Parmar added that the minor's medical examination confirmed she was raped multiple times. 'She testified against the accused in court and revealed he had lured her on the pretext of marriage. Other witnesses also supported the prosecution's case,' he said.

A court here sentenced a man to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for raping and kidnapping a 14-year-old girl in 2022, police said on Saturday. According to the police, on May 3, 2022, they received a complaint regarding the kidnapping of the survivor and an FIR was registered under sections of the Indian Penal Code at IMT, Manesar police station. The police later rescued the victim who alleged that Nitin had raped her after luring her on the pretext of marriage. Sections from the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act were added to the FIR and Nitin was arrested, they said. 'Based on the charge sheet and the evidence and witnesses collected by the police, the court of additional session judge Jasmine Sharma on Friday sentenced the convict to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of ₹50,000', said the spokesperson of Gurugram police.
