Brit dad ‘who tried to drown his daughter-in-law turned girlfriend in pool' will be charged with attempted murder in US

A BRIT dad accused of trying to drown his daughter-in-law will be formally charged with attempted murder in the US. Mark Gibbon, 62, was arrested at the luxury Solterra Resort in Florida last Sunday after allegedly forcing 33-year-old Jasmine Wyld's head underwater 'multiple times' in a furious row over his will. 6 6 The wealthy lighting engineer – who has worked with Mick Jagger, Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith and the late Queen – is expected to apply for bail but may be refused it, as US prosecutors reportedly see him as a "flight risk". Mr Gibbon, of Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire, has already appeared in court on two battery charges, each carrying $1,000 bail. But a source said his attempted murder hearing is "a different level of seriousness" as he is expected to be charged tomorrow. The insider told Mail on Sunday: "He could technically be eligible for bail but because of his wealth and the fact he is a British citizen a judge may consider him too high a flight risk. "If bail were to be considered then he would have to surrender his passport and have to agree to wear a monitoring device." Officials at Polk County Prison refused to comment on his detention conditions for safety reasons, but he is expected to appear before the judge in orange prison overalls. "He will be taken from his cell and transported to court in shackles and handcuffs but they may be removed inside the courtroom at the discretion of the judge," the insider added. Wyld's nine-year-old daughter is said to have leapt into the pool to try to "save" her mother. Police reports claim Gibbon's alleged attack left her with scratches and bruising. Both Gibbon and Wyld told police they are not romantically involved, although detectives are reportedly probing claims they have been lovers for years. Moment drunk Brit pensioner, 66, is left with broken arm after getting into fight with Thai bar girl & being thrown to ground Neighbours in Beaconsfield described Wyld as Gibbon's "girlfriend" and said she was often seen at his £800,000 semi-detached home. One neighbour told The Sun: "Everybody is shocked by this." Another, who said she was Wyld's friend, recalled: "Jasmine used to stay here a lot with the children. But I don't want to say much more because she is a friend of mine." Family insiders claim tensions erupted years ago when Gibbon's son Alex allegedly found Wyld in his father's bed. 'About four years ago there was a big fall-out,' one source the Daily Mail. 'Alex went up the stairs and found Jasmine in his father's bed. They had a massive row. It's torn the family apart… there's been so much bad blood between Alex and his dad.' Alex, 32, and Wyld separated in 2021 but share two young children. The feud deepened when Alex was jailed for driving an £80,000 Porsche Cayenne into his father during a public row. He was released six months ago, and father and son no longer speak. Gibbon, who also runs hairdressing business Sage Hairdressing, allegedly pushed Wyld underwater during the Florida row after telling her she was not the main beneficiary of his will. He reportedly admitted pushing her but denied trying to kill her, claiming they had both been drinking, she slapped him, and the situation escalated. Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said: 'We expect vacationers to behave while they visit with us, just as we expect our life-long residents to do the same. 'Because Mr Gibbon couldn't control his anger he may find himself spending a lot more time in Florida than he had anticipated.' If convicted on all charges, Gibbon could face up to 20 years in jail. 6 6 6

British father 'who tried to drown his daughter-in-law turn-girlfriend' will be charged with attempted murder

The British father who allegedly tried to drown his daughter-in-law in a Florida swimming pool will be formally charged with attempted murder on Monday, the Mail on Sunday can reveal. Mark Gibbon, 62, who was reportedly in a relationship with his son's ex-partner Jasmine Wyld, 33, is likely to apply for bail but may not be granted it because US authorities consider him a 'flight risk'. Wealthy lighting engineer Mr. Gibbon - who has worked with Mick Jagger and Ed Sheeran - was arrested at the Solterra Resort in Davenport, Florida last Sunday after allegedly pushing Ms Wyld's head under the water 'multiple times' and causing scratches and bruising to her body. Her nine-year-old daughter jumped in to try and 'save' her mother, according to police reports. Mr Gibbon, of Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire, has been charged with two counts of battery and one count of attempted murder in the second degree. A source close to the investigation told the MoS that he appeared in court last week on the two battery charges but will face a judge on the attempted murder charge for the first time tomorrow. The source said: 'He is entitled to bail on the two battery charges, in the amount of $1,000 for each charge but, of course, the attempted murder charge is a different level of seriousness. 'He could technically be eligible for bail but because of his wealth and the fact he is a British citizen a judge may consider him too high a flight risk. If bail were to be considered then he would have to surrender his passport and have to agree to wear a monitoring device.' Officials at Polk County Prison declined to comment on the conditions he is being held in citing safety concerns but he will appear in court wearing orange prison overalls. 'He will be taken from his cell and transported to court in shackles and handcuffs but they may be removed inside the courtroom 'at the discretion of the judge.' It is understood Mr Gibbon has already hired a high-powered local lawyer. Mr Gibbon and Ms Wyld both told police they are not romantically involved although detectives are probing claims that they have been lovers for years. The row started after both admitted drinking heavily and Mr Gibbon allegedly told Ms Wyld she was not the main beneficiary of his will. Investigators in the US have been told Ms Wyld may not have been legally married to Mr Gibbon's son Alex Gibbon, with whom she shares two children - Mr Gibbon's grandchildren. Family members told the Daily Mail that Alex Gibbon allegedly found his 'wife' in bed with his father. Alex was later jailed for attempting to run his father over with a pounds 80,000 Porsche. He was released from prison six months ago. Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said: 'We expect vacationers to behave while they visit with us, just as we expect out life-long residents to do the same. 'Because Mr Gibbon couldn't control his anger he may find himself spending a lot more time in Florida than he had anticipated.' Mr Gibbon could face a maximin of 20 years in jail if convicted on all charges.

Son of Brit dad arrested for ‘trying to drown daughter-in-law' in Florida ‘found his ex-wife in father's bed'

A British man accused of trying to drown his former daughter-in-law was once allegedly caught in bed with her by his own son, it has been claimed. Mark Gibbon, 62, is accused of attempting to murder Jasmine Wyld, 33, in Florida after allegedly pushing her head underwater during a row over his will. The incident is said to have taken place at the Solterra Resort, near Disney World, while the pair were on holiday with Wyld's two children, who were fathered by Gibbon's son Alex, 32. A source told the Daily Mail: "About four years ago there was a big fall-out. "Alex went up the stairs and found Jasmine in his father's bed. They had a massive row. "It's torn the family apart... there's been so much bad blood between Alex and his dad. "He just can't get over the fact that his father ended up in a relationship with his ex-partner and the mother of his children." Wyld and Alex split up in 2021, and she is said to spend much of her time at Gibbon's £800,000 semi-detached home in Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire. Their relationship reportedly began after both had separated from their partners, with the pair later holidaying together in Budapest and Florida - though they have never publicly confirmed they are a couple. Gibbon and his son are no longer on speaking terms, with tension boiling over last year when Alex was jailed for driving an £80,000 Porsche Cayenne into his father after a furious argument. According to police, Gibbon attacked his ex-daughter-in-law by the pool after an argument about 'stipulations' in his will, allegedly pushing her head underwater 'multiple times' until bystanders threatened to call the sheriff's office. Wyld told officers she 'believed she was going to drown' and claimed her nine-year-old daughter desperately tried to pull her free. Gibbon, who denies attempted murder, insists the fight escalated after both had been drinking. He faces one count of attempted murder and two counts of battery. The 62-year-old is an experienced lighting technician who has worked on music videos for stars including Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith and Paloma Faith. Neighbours in Beaconsfield said they frequently saw Wyld at Gibbon's home, with several describing her as his 'girlfriend.' John Atkinson, 81, said: 'It's very difficult to countenance that Mark was trying to kill Jasmine. Jasmine was often staying with him along with his grandchildren. She always struck me as quite a cheerful character.' Gibbon is being held at Polk County Jail and is due to appear in court next week.

Mark Gibbon questioned over ‘affair' with daughter-in-law

Police in Florida considered a domestic abuse charge against the British man accused of trying to drown his daughter-in-law, while questions have been raised about the pair's relationship status. Mark Gibbon, 62, was charged with attempted murder after allegedly forcing Jasmine Wyld, 33, underwater at their holiday villa in the US state. They were staying at the Solterra Resort in Davenport, near Walt Disney World, on Sunday where it is alleged that Gibbon got into an argument with Wyld over the 'stipulations of his will'. It is claimed that during the disagreement on Sunday, Mark repeatedly tried to push Wyld underwater in the swimming pool Neighbours in Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire, said that Gibbon and Wyld were on holiday with her two children and no other family members. Polk County sheriff's office said a detective asked Gibbon and Wyld 'about their relationship to determine if the incident would be classified as domestic violence'. On Thursday The Times revealed that Gibbon's son, Alex Gibbon, the father of Wyld's children, had been jailed for hitting his father with an £80,000 Porsche Cayenne in May 2023. Alex Gibbon pleaded guilty in February last year to causing serious injury by dangerous driving as well as 'harassment without violence' towards Wyld. Wyld with her husband, Alex Gibbon, the son of Mark He was sentenced at Aylesbury crown court to a total of 25 months' imprisonment, 36 months' disqualification from driving, a five-year restraining order and a surcharge. The court was told he had been subject to a community order at the time of the offences. Mark Gibbon is under arrest in Florida POLK COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE/PA It is claimed that during the disagreement on Sunday, Gibbon repeatedly tried to push Wyld underwater. This allegedly prompted his nine-year-old granddaughter to jump into the pool and try to save her mother. Police officers at Polk County sheriff's office said witnesses claimed that Gibbon then pushed his granddaughter away. The police said: 'She [Wyld] advised that she could not breathe and believed that she was going to drown. [She] advised that she had to fight Mark in order to get away from him and from under the water but he kept pushing her back under.' Gibbon allegedly only stopped when two onlookers told him they had called the sheriff's office. He was taken into custody at about 5.20pm on Sunday. It is said that he admitted pushing Wyld underwater but denied trying to drown her. Grady Judd, the Polk County sheriff, said: 'It's great that Polk County draws visitors from all across the world but we expect vacationers to behave while they visit with us, just as we expect our lifelong residents to do the same. Because Mr Gibbon couldn't control his anger, he may find himself spending a lot more time in Florida than he had anticipated.'
