Greece PD: Car theft suspects found using License Plate technology
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Three people have been charged after allegedly stealing a white Kia from Rochester.
According to the Greece Police Department, a 2025 white Kia Sorento was reported stolen out of the Rochester Police Department. The car was valued at $40,000.
Officers were able to use the License Plate Reader system, placed at key points in the town, to help with the investigation. It is mainly used to alert officers to stolen or wanted vehicles.
The stolen car was found at the Speedway on West Ridge Road. 51-year-old Jason Field and 36-year-old Nicole Stephan were arrested at the scene. Officers said 37-year-old Joshua Buzard left the store and ran from the scene, but was arrested on Ridgemont Drive.
All three suspects have been charged with third-degree criminal possession of stolen property and third-degree unauthorized use of a vehicle. Field was also charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance for allegedly having cocaine during the arrest.
The three individuals were taken to the Monroe County Jail pending arraignment.
