Greece PD: Car theft suspects found using License Plate technology
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Three people have been charged after allegedly stealing a white Kia from Rochester.
According to the Greece Police Department, a 2025 white Kia Sorento was reported stolen out of the Rochester Police Department. The car was valued at $40,000.
Officers were able to use the License Plate Reader system, placed at key points in the town, to help with the investigation. It is mainly used to alert officers to stolen or wanted vehicles.
The stolen car was found at the Speedway on West Ridge Road. 51-year-old Jason Field and 36-year-old Nicole Stephan were arrested at the scene. Officers said 37-year-old Joshua Buzard left the store and ran from the scene, but was arrested on Ridgemont Drive.
All three suspects have been charged with third-degree criminal possession of stolen property and third-degree unauthorized use of a vehicle. Field was also charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance for allegedly having cocaine during the arrest.
The three individuals were taken to the Monroe County Jail pending arraignment.

Two people dead in Upper Centennial Parkway crash
Two people are dead after an overnight three-vehicle collision on Upper Centennial Parkway between Mud Street East and Green Mountain Road. The crash happened just after midnight Sunday, according to Hamilton Police. A 2014 F-150 pick-up truck and a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado pick-up were southbound on Upper Centennial when the F-150 collided with the Silverado then hit a northbound 2015 Kia Sorento head-on. The driver and passenger in the Sorento were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the F-150 was taken to hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries. The Silverado driver was not injured. The scene was closed for 10 hours as the Collision Reconstruction Unit investigated, according to police. Investigators are asking witnesses to come forward. Motorists are asked to check their dash cameras for video of the crash and residences or businesses in the area are requested to check surveillance cameras for video of the incident. 2 dead following three-vehicle collision in Stoney Creek Sunday
A driver and passenger are dead following a three-vehicle collision in Hamilton's Stoney Creek area early Sunday, police say. Shortly after midnight, officers responded to a collision on Upper Centennial Parkway between Mud Street E. and Green Mountain Road, Hamilton Police Service said in a news release Sunday. According to police, a Ford pick-up truck travelling south collided with a Chevrolet pick-up truck also going south. The driver of the Ford then struck a Kia travelling north head-on. The Kia's driver and passenger were pronounced dead on the scene. The Ford driver went to hospital with "non-life threatening injuries" while the Chevrolet driver was uninjured, police said. Early Sunday, police said the road would be closed for several hours while they investigated. By about 9:50 a.m., it re-opened. The police's collision reconstruction team ask any witnesses to come forward, and request that people with dashcam or security-camera footage share that with them.

Motorcyclist seriously injured in Independence crash Saturday night
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Police are investigating after a motorcyclist was seriously injured in a crash in Independence, Missouri, late Saturday night. According to the Independence Police Department, just before 11 p.m., officers were called to the area of Sterling Avenue and 19th Street on reports of an injury crash. When the Kia pulled out, the motorcyclist hit the back of the car. IPD said the motorcyclist suffered serious injuries and was taken to a hospital. The driver of the Kia stayed on the scene and cooperated with investigations. At this time, investigations are ongoing; however, it was discovered that the motorcyclist was wearing a 'non-DOT' helmet at the time of the crash.
