Former Cleveland, MLB All-Star Jason Kipnis is speaker at NWPA High School Sports Awards

The 2024-25 Northwestern Pennsylvania High School Sports Awards, Presented by Sports Medicine at AHN Saint Vincent, is happy to announce two-time MLB All-Star Jason Kipnis as the guest speaker for its live event on Monday, June 23 at the Warner Theatre.
Kipnis played in 10 MLB seasons, including with the Cleveland Indians from 2011-19 and with the Chicago Cubs in 2020. He was selected to the American League All-Star teams in 2013 and 2015.

An outfielder in college at Kentucky and Arizona State, Cleveland drafted Kipnis in the second round of the 2009 draft and moved him to second base. He moved through the minor leagues quickly and made his debut in 2011, playing in 36 games and hitting .272.
The Northwestern Pennsylvania High School Sports Awards, Presented by Sports Medicine at AHN Saint Vincent, are part of the USA TODAY High School Sports Awards program.
Probably his best seasons were 2013, when he hit .284 with 17 home runs; 2015, when he hit .303; and 2016, when he hit .275 with 23 home runs.
He played in the postseason in five seasons, including a World Series appearance with Cleveland in 2016. He hit .290 with two home runs in that series, a 7-game loss to the Cubs.
