Alligator spotted in this Bucks County lake. Police post warning
A small alligator has been seen swimming near Magnolia Lake in Bristol Township, according to the Bristol Township Police Department's Instagram.
A video posted by the police at about 3 p.m. Thursday shows the alligator's head peering out of the lake near Lakeland Avenue and Bristol Oxford Valley Road.
"We have been made aware of a small alligator that is swimming in the area of Magnolia Lake," the police wrote in its video post. "We have notified the Wildlife and Game Commission, who will be addressing this situation. Please use caution and avoid using the creek until it's safe."
Police learned about the gator from a 911 call, Bristol Township Police Sgt. Jason Mancuso said. It was not immediately known Thursday night how the police obtained video of the baby reptile.
Magnolia Lake sits near Bucks County's Silver Lake Park complex, where visitors fish, hike and kayak.
It is unclear at this time if the alligator has been removed or how it got there.
American Alligators are native to the southern states and along the Gulf coast, according to information on the U.S. Geological Survey website.
