‘Son of Sardaar 2' Box Office collection day 10: Ajay Devgn and Mrunal Thakur's comedy drama mints over Rs 3 crore on Sunday; crosses Rs 40 crore mark

Ajay Devgn 's comedy-drama 'Son of Sardaar 2' has quietly crossed the Rs 40 crore mark at the Indian box office within ten days of its release. The film is doing better than 'Dhadak 2' but has not yet reached the Rs 50 crore milestone. While it has held steady, it is not yet a big hit. Slow but steady growth According to early estimates by Sacnilk, 'Son of Sardaar 2' earned around Rs 3.75 crore net on its tenth day in India. The film's total collection so far stands at about Rs 42 crore. On Sunday, 10 August 2025, the film had an overall occupancy of 32.52%. The morning shows were low at 11.04%, while afternoon and evening shows had higher turnout at 40.40% and 48.96% respectively. Night shows dropped again to 29.66%. Here is a quick look at its box office earnings over ten days: Day 1 (Friday): Rs 7.25 crore Day 2 (Saturday): Rs 8.25 crore Day 3 (Sunday): Rs 9.25 crore Day 4 (Monday): Rs 2.35 crore Day 5 (Tuesday): Rs 2.75 crore Day 6 (Wednesday): Rs 1.75 crore Day 7 (Thursday): Rs 1.40 crore Total for the first week: Rs 33 crore Day 8 (Friday): Rs 1.25 crore Day 9 (Saturday): Rs 4 crore Day 10 (Sunday): Rs 3.75 crore (early estimate) The total collection so far: Rs 42 crore. Strong competition at the box office One reason for 'Son of Sardaar 2's modest numbers is tough competition from other movies at the box office. The film 'Saiyaara' is still going strong, earning Rs 3.75 crore on 10 August alone, and has a huge total of Rs 318 crore. This long-running success makes it hard for new films to attract viewers. On the same day, 'Dhadak 2' earned only Rs 1.75 crore, with a total of Rs 20.75 crore, less than 'Son of Sardaar 2'. Another strong performer is 'Mahavatar Narsimha', which made Rs 22.75 crore on Sunday, pushing its total to Rs 168.65 crore. 'War 2' set to shake things up? Next week, 'Son of Sardaar 2' will face its biggest challenge yet. The highly awaited action drama 'War 2', starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR, is set to release on 14 August. This big-budget film is expected to dominate ticket sales and could push 'Son of Sardaar 2' out of many cinemas, making it even harder for Ajay Devgn's film to hold its ground. What is 'Son of Sardaar 2' about? In 'Son of Sardaar 2', Ajay Devgn plays Jassi Singh Randhawa, who travels to Scotland hoping to make peace with his estranged wife. But things quickly go wrong as he gets caught up in mafia fights, a noisy Punjabi wedding, and even a hostage crisis. The film mixes comedy, action, and drama to entertain the audience. Alongside Ajay Devgn and Mrunal Thakur , the film stars Ravi Kishan, Sanjay Mishra, Neeru Bajwa, Deepak Dobriyal, Chunky Pandey, Kubbra Sait , Vindu Dara Singh, Mukul Dev, and Ashwini Kalsekar. Directed by Vijay Kumar Arora, 'Son of Sardaar 2' was released on 1 August. The original 'Son of Sardaar' (2012), directed by Ashwni Dhir, starred Ajay Devgn, Sanjay Dutt , Sonakshi Sinha , and Mukul Dev. That film followed Jassi Singh Randhawa returning from London to Punjab, only to get caught in an old family feud.

Box Office Collection: Son Of Sardaar 2 And Dhadak 2 Struggle To Withstand Saiyaara Storm

Both Son of Sardaar 2 and Dhadak 2 were released in theatres on August 1. Son of Sardaar 2 and Dhadak 2 continue to underperform at the box office, with neither film showing improvement in daily collections as they enter their second week. While Dhadak 2 struggles to connect with audiences despite its socially driven theme, Son of Sardaar 2 has fared slightly better, boosted by its ensemble cast and comedic storyline. According to Sacnilk, the Vijay Kumar Arora directorial earned ₹1.4 crore on its second Friday, bringing its total to ₹33 crore (net). Reports suggest that the Ajay Devgn–Mrunal Thakur starrer is likely to wrap up its theatrical run well below the ₹50 crore (net) mark. At the box office, Son of Sardaar 2 and Dhadak 2 are struggling to hold their ground against the unstoppable Saiyaara storm. Son of Sardaar 2 Brings Back Chaos and Comedy On Screen Ajay Devgn returns as Jassi Singh Randhawa in Son of Sardaar 2. This time, Jassi sets off on a turbulent journey to Scotland to reconnect with his wife, only to find himself caught in a whirlwind of mafia feuds, a chaotic Punjabi wedding, and an unexpected hostage crisis. The ensemble cast also includes Ravi Kishan, Roshni Walia, Kubbra Sait, Deepak Dobriyal, Neetu Bajwa, and Sanjay Mishra, with a special appearance by the late Mukul Dev. Dhadak 2 Fails To Meet Expectation Dhadak 2 is faring significantly worse than Son of Sardaar 2 at the box office. The Siddhant Chaturvedi–Triptii Dimri starrer earned just ₹60 lakh on its second Friday, bringing its total collection to ₹17.3 crore (net). According to reports, the Shazia Iqbal directorial is expected to finish its run under ₹25 crore at the Indian box office. The film follows a law student who falls in love with a classmate, only to face abuse from her family due to caste inequalities. It has been praised for its sensitive portrayal of casteism. Produced by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions, Zee Studios, and Cloud 9 Pictures, Dhadak 2 was initially slated for release in November last year but faced multiple delays, reportedly due to issues with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The film serves as a spiritual sequel to the 2018 release Dhadak. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
