Tirupati: The commissioner Narapureddy Mourya presented sareee on behalf of Tirupati municipal Corporation on Monday to goddess Gangamma, on Jathara. The commissioner accompanied by Deputy Mayors Mudra Narayana, RC Munikrishna, senior officials and corporators came in a procession from the corporation office to the accompaniment of traditional music to the temple for presenting saree. She along with senior officials presented saree to temple priests Murali Swamy and Ramakrishna and had darshan. She said she prayed the goddess to shower her blessings for the well-being and prosperity of the people of Tirupati. Commissioner said the corporation, police and other departments are fully geared up for the Viswaroopa darshanam of goddess which will be last day of Jathara on Tuesday. Additional Commissioner Charan Tej Reddy, Deputy Commissioner Amariah, Superintendent Engineer Shyam Sunder, Revenue Officer Sethumadhav were also present.

Tirupati: On the first day of Tatayyagunta Gangamma Jathara, devotees offered prayers to Gangamma in Bairagi Vesham on Wednesday. Following the age-old custom, devotees smear the face or the body with white yash and worshipped the goddess. The Jathara began with a formal announcement by the members of Kaikala family and later priests observed Vadibala utsavam in the temple. Priests Ramakrishna and Murali Swamy packed turmeric, vermilion, sandal, rice and aromatic substances in a silk cloth and tied it to Dwajasthambam amidst religious fervor. Later, abhishekam and special rituals were performed to Gangamma in the temple. The temple wore a festive look with colourful decorations and festoons of mango leaves entire temple complex. The Jathara will continue up to May 14 during.

Week-long Ganga Jathara begins today

Tirupati: Stage is set for the colourful week-long Tatayyagunta Gangamma Jathara, which will take off on Tuesday. The Jathara will start with traditional 'Chatimpu', which will be held early in the morning on Tuesday, which will be followed by a series of religious events. Devotees wearing various attires will offer prayers to Gangamma during the seven days fete. The attires include Bairagi Vesham (May 7), Banda Vesham (May 8), Thoti Vesham (May 9), Dora Vesham (May 10), Mathangi Vesham (May 11), Sunnapu Kundalu (May 12), and Jathara (May 13). The festival will conclude with Viswaroopa darshanam on the early morning of Wednesday (May 14). Municipal Corporation Commissioner Narapureddy Mourya along with various departments officials on Monday visited, giving final touches to the preparations. She directed the officials of town planning department to ensure the shop keepersnot to encroach roads and see devotees proceed to the temples without any hindrance. In the vegetable market, which was earmarked for women devotees to prepare Pongallu to offer to the Goddess, the health department take all steps for round the clock sanitation and cleaning. The Commissioner said cultural programmes will also be held daily during the Jathara adding more to the spiritual tempo. Regarding parking, Mourya said TUDA office campus should be allotted for VIP parking and no vehicles should be allowed beyond YSR statue at TUDA junction. She also inspected the additional queue lines set up to cope with the heavy rush of devotees expected during the Jathara. She urged the officials to ensure no inconvenience to common devotees and all basic facilities including drinking water should be made available round the clock. Yadav Corporation Chairman Narasimha Yadav, Deputy Mayors Mudra Narayana, R C Munikrishna, RDO Rammohan, ASP Ravi Manoharachari, SEs Syam Sundar, Krishna Reddy, DSPs Ramakrishnamachari, Bhakthavatsalam, TUDA EE Raveendra were present.

All set for Gangamma Jathara in Tirupati

Arrangements have been made for Tataiahgunta Gangamma Jathara, scheduled to begin from May 6 and conclude with Ammavari Viswaroopa Darshanam on May 14. The week-long annual festival will be held by Tirupati Municipal Corporation (TMC) and Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD). Speaking to The Hindu, Tataiahgunta Gangamma Temple Executive Officer A. Jaya Kumar said around 80,000 devotees are expected to visit the temple during the Jathara. Tirupati MLA Arani Srinivasulu has directed the officials of the TMC as well as police and revenue departments to ensure that the devotees face no difficulties in queues. The TMC Commissioner also asked the staff to maintain cleanliness both inside and outside the temple. Tirupati District Superintendent of Police V. Harshavardhan Raju ordered the Police Command Control to tighten security at the temple and said the number of police personnel deployed should be proportional to that of devotees coming to the Jathara. Mr. Harshavardhan Raju said: 'The police teams should perform their assigned duties properly, and they should also be polite to the people. On May 12 and 13, traffic diversions must be carried out to free the temple routes.'
