Disgruntled 49ers WR may have indicated a new contract is coming
It doesn't sound like any issue Jauan Jennings has with his contract impacted his first practice of training camp. Jennings according to a report from ESPN's Adam Schefter would be seeking either a trade or a new long-term contract with the 49ers after finishing last season as their leading wide receiver. He's on track to hold onto that role for at least the start of the 2025 campaign. Despite not having a new deal in place, Jennings played the part of the San Francisco 49ers' top wide receiver on the first day of camp according to ESPN's Nick Wagoner. Wagoner on Twitter ran through some notes from Day 1 of camp and mentioned Jennings' performance: While Jennings would be/is justified in wanting an extension, he doesn't seem to be letting it interfere with his preparation. He caught three passes on four targets and appeared to draw a flag on another (had a bad angle on new fields, hence "appeared to"). He also led every receiver drill, which is what you'd expect from the player who as of right now is the team's clear cut No. 1 wideout. Perhaps Jennings is just the kind of person who's going to practice like normal instead of holding in or holding out. However, this could also be an indication that there's some sort of deal in the works and Jennings feels like he can push it over the finish line by participating as though there's nothing wrong off the field. Either way, it's becoming evident why the 49ers like Jennings and why they should extend him even if it means creating a small financial obstacle in the future. They can't just give him the first dollar figure he asks for, but his performance last season and his approach to his first practice of camp should be motivation enough for the 49ers to find a sweet spot on an extension for their breakout star of the 2024 article originally appeared on Niners Wire: Jauan Jennings contract didn't affect 49ers 1st day of training camp

Jauan Jennings dealing with dangerous injury for 2nd time this offseason
The San Francisco 49ers have another injury at the top of their receiving corps. Wide receiver Jauan Jennings left Sunday's practice early because of a calf issue. It's the second time this offseason he's dealt with a calf problem. Jennings also had a calf ailment in OTAs according to the San Francisco Chronicle's Eric Branch. This is a tenuous situation for the 49ers because they desperately need Jennings to be healthy this season. He led the team's wide receivers with 975 yards a year ago and he looked to be in line for a similar role to start the 2025 campaign. Calf injuries are tricky because of the proximity to and potential impact on the Achilles. Just last season running back Christian McCaffrey missed virtually all of training camp with what the team called a calf injury. It turns out it was Achilles tendinitis that cost the 2023 Offensive Player of the Year the first eight weeks of the regular season. Jennings joins Brandon Aiyuk, Ricky Pearsall and Jacob Cowing in the group of 49ers WRs dealing with injuries early in camp. Aiyuk is still recovering from a major knee injury he sustained in Week 7 last year, and Cowing is out for some time because of a hamstring injury he suffered on the first day of camp. Pearsall missed the start of camp because of a hamstring injury, but he did return to the field Sunday. If Jennings winds up missing significant time, it leaves the door wide open for Pearsall to take on the No. 1 WR role. The problem is the rest of the depth chart where veteran Demarcus Robinson is probably next up as the WR2. Rookie fourth-round pick Jordan Watkins could see additional reps with the first team, and veterans like Russell Gage could make their case for a roster spot if the top of the depth chart continues having health problems. Ideally Jennings won't miss a ton of time, but the location of his injury means the team should be smart with him and ensure they're not rushing him back into article originally appeared on Niners Wire: 49ers injury news: Jauan Jennings leaves practice with calf issue

Jauan Jennings left practice with a calf injury
The 49ers got Ricky Pearsall on the practice field for the first time in training camp on Sunday, but another wide receiver had to leave Sunday's session with an injury. Head coach Kyle Shanahan said in his press conference that Jauan Jennings suffered a calf injury. Jennings also dealt with a calf injury during the offseason program and Shanahan said there was no word yet on the severity of the injury. 'I don't know," Shanahan said, via a transcript. "I'll hear about it later today with anybody who goes out of practice, but that's why I know he went out. That's what he had in OTAs, so I'm sure it's similar.' Jennings reported to camp and has been practicing despite reports that he wanted to be traded if the team did not give him a new contract. Shanahan said at the start of camp that Jennings has not formally requested a trade.

49ers predicted to trade No. 1 WR during training camp
While the 2025 NFL season is still a bit away, the San Francisco 49ers have fully reported for training camp with their first practice set to take place at their SAP Performance Facility on Wednesday in Santa Clara, California. However, the group of players that the 49ers enter camp with won't be the same as the one they will play with in Week 1. There will be more cuts, signings and trades that will change the trajectory of their season over the next few weeks. Interestingly, Pro Football and Sports Network's Jacob Infante recently predicted San Francisco will make a major trade during training camp and send Jauan Jennings elsewhere. "Amidst rumors that Jauan Jennings wants a new contract before his current deal expires in 2026, the San Francisco 49ers find themselves in a tight spot," Infante said. "They have the likes of Brock Purdy, Nick Bosa, Brandon Aiyuk, and Fred Warner on massive long-term deals. They could find themselves fielding trade offers if they aren't willing to pay Jennings what he wants." Jennings, 28, has caught 155 passes for 1,938 yards and 13 touchdowns in his four-year career, including an impressive 77-catch, 975-yard and six-touchdown season in 2024. He's entering the final year of a two-year, $11.89 million extension that he signed last May, so he's looking for more long-term security. San Francisco needs help at wide receiver with Deebo Samuel traded to the Washington Commanders earlier this offseason and Brandon Aiyuk likely missing the start of the 2025 season while recovering from a torn ACL, MCL and meniscus. Moving on from Jennings could really impact the 49ers offense and their chances of making it back to the article originally appeared on Niners Wire: 49ers predicted to trade Jauan Jennings before the 2025 season

Jauan Jennings stands out at 49ers camp, but another receiver leaves with hamstring injury
SANTA CLARA, Calif. — The receiver position was the center of attention for the San Francisco 49ers at their first training camp practice with Jauan Jennings leading the way in practice despite his desire for a new contract and Jacob Cowing leaving early with a hamstring injury. A year after Brandon Aiyuk skipped all of training camp practice as a contract 'hold in,' Jennings opted to go a different route this year as he seeks a new deal to replace the final season of a two-year, $15.4 million contract he signed in 2024.
