Rockwall, Heath ranked in top 50 in Dave Campbell's Texas Football Magazine

Rockwall and Rockwall-Heath both made it into the top 50 teams in the Class 6A state rankings as compiled by Dave Campbell's Texas Football Magazine. The 65th summer edition of the magazine has been released and as usual it features extensive coverage of Texas college and high school football. Advertisement Rockwall, which went 6-6 last season, ranked 28th, while the Heath Hawks, who are coming off a 4-6 season, were ranked 44th. Southlake Carroll, which returns 10 starters on offense and nine on defense, earned the No. 1 preseason ranking. The Dragons went 15-1 last season. North Crowley, a 16-0 state champion in 2024, is ranked No. 2 though returning only two starters on offense. Duncanville, 13-1 in 2024, is ranked third, followed by perennial powers Austin Westlake and Galena Park North Shore. Those two teams won both 14 games last season. The magazine picked Longview to repeat as the District 10-6A champions, followed by Rockwall, North Forney, Heath, Forney, Tyler Legacy and Royse City. Advertisement Longview was No. 17 in the magazine's top 50 rankings and North Forney was 34th. Last year Longview went 6-0 in District 10-6A play while North Forney was 5-1, Rockwall and Forney were both 3-3, Heath and Legacy were both 2-4 and Royse City was 0-6. The magazine picked Forney running back Javian Osborne, who rushed for 1,239 yards and 22 touchdowns last season, as the preseason Offensive Most Valuable Player for District 10-6A and Longview defensive lineman Krystin Williams as the Defensive MVP. Osborne also earned second-team honors on the magazine's Super Team on offense. Rockwall wide receiver-defensive back Jack Duckworth made the magazine's top 10 list of athletes who are college prospects. Legend Bey of North Forney also made the top 10 list. Advertisement Duckworth caught 34 passes for 472 yards and five touchdowns last season for the Yellowjackets and returned 13 kickoffs for 245 yards with a long return of 60 yards. He also intercepted a pass on defense. The magazine also picks an FBS Power Poll of the top college football teams. Texas, whose head coach Steve Sarkisan is on the cover, was ranked No. 1 followed by Texas Tech, Texas A&M, SMU, Baylor, TCU, Houston, UT-San Antonio, North Texas and the Texas State Bobcats. The magazine ranked the Southland Conference with Incarnate Word first, followed by Stephen F. Austin, Lamar, McNeese, Southeastern Louisiana, East Texas A&M, Nicholls, Houston Christian, Northwestern State and UT-Rio Grande Valley. ETAMU wide receiver Christian Jourdain was listed as one of the Southland's 'Five Players to Know.' Jourdain led the Lions last season with 51 catches for 683 yards and six TDs.

Notre Dame commit Javian Osborne is seemingly trolling Michigan at a Rivals Camp

One of the biggest camps of the year is underway, the Rivals Five Star Challenge, and for Notre Dame running back commit Javian Osborne, he's trying to put on a show. The Irish aren't worried about his commitment, as the 5-foot, 10-inch and 200-pound back is not really looking around at other schools. However, Osborne's choice of footwear at the camp should be turning some heads, as he opted to wear Michigan cleats for the event. The Wolverines did offer him, and took an official visit to see them last weekend, so there is some potential for a flip. However, when looking closer, Osborne has blacked out the 'M' logo on the cleats, so most likely he just wanted to wear Jordan Brand for the day and troll them a bit. Notre Dame is getting one of the top backs in the nation, as Osborne is ranked as the No. 90 overall prospect in the 2026 class according to the 247Sports Composite.

Notre Dame recruiting class ranks highly in the eyes of this network

Notre Dame's 2026 recruiting class is now ranked No. 2 by ESPN. The Fighting Irish were previously No. 3. That's because the Fighting Irish secured the services of running back Jonaz Walton after getting Javian Osborne. So the four-letter network gave Notre Dame a boost since the Irish have two of ESPN's top 300 running backs. Advertisement ESPN updates its rankings of the Top 25 every so often -- the last update was May 14 -- and in addition to the Irish moving up, the Illinois Fighting Illini are the big surprise, as they jump 10 spots to No. 10. Texas jumps into the ranking and Ole Miss falls out. The Irish sit behind long-time rival USC in the rankings, and the top five is rounded out by Ohio State, Penn State and Clemson. Notre Dame football stays hot recruiting, adding 4-star 2026 Texas running back

Notre Dame football continued to add to its impressive 2026 recruiting class on Wednesday, as Texas running back Jonaz Walton picked the Irish over Stanford, Alabama, Florida and Tennessee. The 5-foot, 9-inch and 205-pound back becomes commitment No. 16 for Notre Dame, in a class that is viewed as one of the best in the country. With Javian Osborne, the pair make one of the best verbal duos in the nation. Advertisement Walton is ranked by the 247Sports Composite as the No. 125 overall prospect, giving the Irish yet another top rated ball-carrier. While he is on the smaller side, we've seen Notre Dame have plenty of success with backs having a similar frame, Kyren Williams being a great example. Notre Dame is taking advantage of its momentum on the recruiting trail following its run to the College Football Playoff championship game, and that doesn't look like it will be slowing down any time soon.
