Sam Burgess confirms 21-man Wire squad to face Wakefield Trinity
FORCED Warrington Wolves team changes for the clash with Wakefield Trinity at The Halliwell Jones Stadium on Sunday have been confirmed in the naming of the 21-man squad. Sam Burgess said in yesterday's press conference that there are players who were unlikely unavailable or doubtful due to injuries sustained in the defeat to Wigan Warriors in Las Vegas. Matty Ashton has a foot injury and misses out, as does Toby King who has a groin complaint, although Lachlan Fitzgibbon is included despite leaving the field at Allegiant Stadium with a rib problem. Papua New Guinea centre Rodrick Tai and rugby union convert Alfie Johnson are brought into the 21-man squad. Tai looks set for a start in the centres, with Johnson set for his Super League debut on the wing although Burgess does also have the option of selecting Cai Taylor-Wray on the flank. 🐺 𝙎𝙌𝙐𝘼𝘿 𝙉𝙀𝙒𝙎 | Our 21-man squad for Sunday's return to The Halliwell Jones Stadium — Warrington Wolves (@WarringtonRLFC) March 7, 2025 Daryl Powell's Wakefield will be looking to bounce back from successive defeats against Hull KR and St Helens, after winning their opening game against Leeds Rhinos.
