Contract details for new Arizona Cardinals CB Jaylon Jones

Contract details for new Arizona Cardinals CB Jaylon Jones Howard Balzer breaks down the numbers for new Cardinals CB Jaylon Jones. Adding depth to the secondary and competition on special teams, the Arizona Cardinals recently signed cornerback Jaylon Jones to a one-year contract after the Chicago Bears elected not to tender him as a restricted free agent. An undrafted free agent in 2022, Jones played 41 games with five starts for the Bears. Four of those starts were in his rookie season. In 2024, Jones played eight games with one start, but suffered a shoulder injury and was placed on injured reserve Nov. 7 for the remainder of the season. The last two years, he played 76 and 66 percent of the snaps on special teams in the games he played. Jones' contract is worth $1.2 million and includes a $50,000 signing bonus and a $50,000 offseason workout bonus to go with a $1.1 million minimum base salary for players with three credited seasons. The salary-cap charge is $1.2 million. For the 14 signed players with published contract details (Jones, Royce Newman, Zay Jones, Simi Fehoko, Jacoby Brissett, Dalvin Tomlinson, Josh Sweat, Baron Browning, Mykal Walker, L.J. Collier, Evan Brown, Akeem Davis-Gaither, Joey Blount and Aaron Brewer) plus the 1-year restricted free-agent tender for Greg Dortch, the total cap hit this year is $50.445 million. We are still waiting for official figures for addition Jake Curhan along with re-signed player Kelvin Beachum. Arizona Cardinals sign former Packers, Bucs OL Royce Newman

Arizona Cardinals sign former Packers, Bucs OL Royce Newman The Cardinals added veteran depth to their offensive line, adding former Packers guard Royce Newman. The Arizona Cardinals have added a guard to the team, someone who could potentially compete for the starting job at right guard. They announced Friday that they signed former Green Bay Packers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers guard Royce Newman, as well as making official the signing of cornerback Jaylon Jones, whose addition we already posted about. Both were signed to one-year contracts. Newman is a 6-foot-5, 310-pounder who was drafted in the fourth round by Green Bay in 2021. He started 16 games at right guard as a rookie and then started eight more in the next two seasons for a total of 21 starts at right guard, two at left guard and one at right tackle. Last season, he played for the Bucs but only appeared in one game, logging three offensive snaps, after he was claimed off waivers following his release from the Packers before the season. He will join recently added Jake Curhan, 2024 third-round pick Isaiah Adams, Jon Gaines and others like Matt Jones and McClendon Curtis to compete for both the seemingly vacant starting right guard job and spots on the roster.
