The incident happened on May 12 during the second round of the NBA playoffs at Madison Square Garden. With just under three minutes remaining in the game, Tatum suffered a non-contact Achilles tendon rupture. The injury effectively ended his postseason, and the Celtics fell to the Knicks in six games.
Tatum's road to recovery could keep him out for much of the 2025-26 season, but the 27-year-old isn't letting that slow him down this summer. On Tuesday, he shared a personal update with fans.

Tatum has been with the Celtics since being selected third overall in the 2017 NBA Draft. The former Duke standout turned 27 in March and has already surpassed 13,000 regular-season points in his career.
This past season, Tatum appeared in 72 games, averaging 26.8 points, 8.7 rebounds and 6.0 assists per game. Before his injury, he was averaging 28.1 points per game in the playoffs.
