Shafi Burfat calls UN's security council role issue to Pakistan ‘murder of justice'

Shafi Burfat, Chairman of Jeay Sindh Muttahida Mahaz (JSMM), has issued a statement condemning the United Nations' decision to grant Pakistan the presidency of the Security Council, calling it a "murder of global justice" and a "direct insult to the oppressed nations under Pakistani military occupation." Referring to the 1971 genocide in Bangladesh, Burfat asked: "How can a state that massacred over 3 million Bengalis and raped thousands of women be allowed to guide international peace and security?"(REUTERS File) Burfat expressed deep shock and sorrow over what he called the legitimisation of a rogue state. "Instead of dragging Pakistan before the International Court of Justice for its crimes, sponsorship of terrorism, military occupation of historic nations, and gross human rights violations, the UN has rewarded it with a prestigious global platform," Burfat said. Speaking on behalf of the Sindhi, Baloch, Pashtun, Brahui, Lassi, Saraiki, and the people of Gilgit-Baltistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir, Burfat called the decision incomprehensible and disgraceful. "Pakistan is not a federation but an artificial and failed state, sustained by a Punjabi-dominated military that uses religion and terrorism as state policy," he added. Burfat accused the Pakistani state of operating death squads, enforcing disappearances, and dumping mutilated bodies to silence political dissent. He said it's military and intelligence agencies, "among the most corrupt and notorious in the world," continue to shelter globally designated terrorists such as Hafiz Saeed and Masood Azhar. "The recent Pahalgam massacre in India is a glaring example," Burfat said, referring to the killing of civilians. He linked the attack to hate-filled speeches by Pakistani Army Chief General Asim Munir, accusing the military establishment of promoting religious violence and terrorism. Referring to the 1971 genocide in Bangladesh, Burfat asked: "How can a state that massacred over 3 million Bengalis and raped thousands of women be allowed to guide international peace and security?" Calling Pakistan a "morally, politically, and economically failed state," Burfat urged the global community to reconsider this decision. "To grant leadership to such a regime is to empower fascism and legitimise terrorism," he warned.

JSMM Chairman Shafi Burfat slams Pak army for using Bilawal Bhutto as anti-India propaganda tool

Munich [Germany], June 3 (ANI): Shafi Burfat, the leader of Jeay Sindh Muttahida Mahaz (JSMM), accused that the Pakistani military is manipulating Bilawal Bhutto Zardari as a pawn to disseminate anti-India rhetoric and distract the global community from state-sponsored terrorism and human rights abuses against marginalised groups such as Sindhis, Baloch, and Pashtuns within Pakistan. 'Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is being strategically utilised by the Pakistani military to redirect international focus. This shift seeks to overshadow the increasing awareness of the severe oppression faced by Pakistan's historical nations, including Sindhis, Baloch, Pashtuns, Seraikis, and the population of Pakistan-occupied Gilgit-Baltistan (PoGB), who endure an imposed state framework upheld by the Punjabi-dominated military establishment. These communities continue to face military occupation, systemic human rights breaches, ethnic cleansing, political oppression, and economic exploitation,' Shafi Burfat remarked. Shafi Burfat pointed out that the Pakistani military and its intelligence service, ISI, have consistently kidnapped political activists through extrajudicial actions, later abandoning their disfigured bodies in isolated locations--a regime of state terror aimed at silencing dissenting voices and stifling aspirations for freedom. 'The internal struggles of these nations for justice and liberty are being violently repressed through state fascism, as Pakistan attempts to conceal this truth from the international community,' Shafi Burfat asserted. Sending Bilawal Bhutto to the United Nations serves merely as a diplomatic facade for the military's colonial strategies, aiming to manipulate the global narrative while suppressing genuine democratic and nationalist movements internally, Burfat emphasised in his statement. 'Bilawal Bhutto is a politically inexperienced individual who is currently being exploited by the Pakistani military in its propaganda effort against India. Although he hails from Sindh, a nation with a history of oppression, the Punjabi-oriented Pakistani state and its military have long perpetrated fascist atrocities and brutally repressed all historical nations within its confines,' Burfat contended. In Balochistan, the Pakistani army--especially the ISI--is involved in the systematic abduction, torture, and enforced disappearance of political activists. Inhumane torture facilities are employed against those seeking justice, and the disfigured bodies of Sindhi, Baloch, and Pashtun activists frequently emerge in deserted areas, standing as grim evidence of state terrorism, Burfat remarked. 'Pakistan has devolved into a living nightmare for the nations confined within its borders. These communities are denied the right to exist with dignity, stripped of political liberties, and silenced through violence and intimidation. Their voices are stifled, and their aspirations for self-determination are crushed. Meanwhile, their mineral and natural resources are exploited by Punjabi imperialism, leaving these communities in a state of poverty, malnutrition, and social despair,' Burfat stated. The military establishment, largely dominated by Punjabis, has seized millions of acres of land that belong to the Sindhis. They forcibly displace entire communities and villages from their ancestral homes. Recently, in Moro City, Sindh, a coordinated operation to grab land in the village of Bajrani Laghari resulted in the brutal murder of two residents, Zahid Laghari and Irfan Laghari, by operatives from the ISI disguised as civilians. This was a deliberate tactic to instil fear, suppress opposition, and facilitate a military takeover of Sindhi territory, according to Shafi Burfat. In his remarks, Shafi Burfat stated that the military establishment in Sindh is continuing to unlawfully control river waters and extensive agricultural lands. The Sindhi population is persistently protesting against this occupation and the resulting exploitation. The historic nations confined within the borders of Pakistan are actively fighting for liberation from political oppression, economic subjugation, and forced domination. 'As representatives of the Sindhi nation, we vehemently denounce and express our shock at Bilawal Bhutto's involvement in supporting the deceptive propaganda of Pakistan's oppressive Punjabi ruling class and its corrupt military. His recent attempts to mislead the international community with narratives against India are nothing more than a perilous act of self-delusion and an effort to mislead the world,' stated Shafi Burfat. We are profoundly disturbed by Bilawal Bhutto's immature and irresponsible actions, as he, despite his lack of experience, is being exploited by the Pakistani state and its military to disseminate false narratives about India on global platforms. This is particularly concerning in light of the recent terrorist attacks orchestrated by Pakistan's military within Indian territory. In retaliation, India initiated Operation Sindoor, a targeted and morally justified mission aimed solely at dismantling terrorist sanctuaries within Pakistan, Burfat remarked. 'We reject the Pakistani establishment's exploitation of Bilawal Bhutto to falsely portray solidarity among oppressed nations within Pakistan, especially the Sindhis, in its antagonistic stance towards India. The Sindhi nation distinguishes itself from such deception and continues its non-violent fight for freedom and justice. The global community must recognise the reality that the nations trapped and colonised within Pakistan are struggling for liberation from its occupation, fascism, and brutality,' claimed Burfat. JSMM urges global recognition for Sindhudesh, calls for action against Pakistani oppression

Darmstadt [Germany], May 23 (ANI): The Jeay Sindh Muttahida Mahaz (JSMM), led by chairman Shafi Burfat, has made an urgent request to the United Nations, international human rights organisations, democratic nations, and global civil groups to acknowledge Sindhudesh as an independent nation and denounce Pakistan's ongoing military control and systematic oppression of the Sindhi people. In a detailed political and humanitarian document entitled The Sindhudesh Global Freedom Charter, JSMM emphasised Sindh's rich civilisational history and its ongoing battle against colonial rule, first under British domination and then under what it refers to as a 'Punjabi-dominated military-security state' in Pakistan. The Charter claims that Sindh, which is home to the ancient Indus Valley Civilisation, was never a willing participant in the establishment of Pakistan. JSMM contended that the inclusion of Sindh in Pakistan in 1947 constituted a betrayal of its national aspirations and historical identity. According to JSMM, Sindh currently exists under a form of colonial rule, deprived of sovereignty and controlled through military and political oppression. JSMM has accused the Pakistani government of exploiting Sindh's abundant natural resources, including oil, gas, coal, ports, and agricultural land, while leaving the region in poverty. It asserted that state-sponsored resettlement initiatives are being employed to change Sindh's demographic profile, diminishing Sindhis to a minority in their land. The Charter also points out the environmental damage caused by the redirection of the Indus River, which has led to the desertification of fertile Sindhi territory. The statement firmly condemned Pakistan's security forces for perpetrating serious human rights abuses in Sindh, including enforced disappearances, torture, and extrajudicial killings of political activists, journalists, and student leaders. It mentioned that anti-terrorism legislation is being misused to target secular and nationalist movements, whereas religious extremists receive support from the state. JSMM reiterated its call for a free, secular, and democratic Republic of Sindhudesh, rooted in principles of equality, minority rights, and social welfare. It referenced international regulations, such as the UN Charter and the ICCPR, to advocate for Sindh's right to self-determination. In a particular message to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the people of India, JSMM appealed for moral, political, and practical backing, stressing the historical and cultural connections between Sindh and India. Additionally, it urged international organisations to dispatch observers, denounce human rights violations, and aid Sindh's peaceful liberation movement. (ANI)

Bilawal Bhutto being used as a pawn against India? New, unexpected claims stir post-Pahalgam pot even as war fog settles

India-Pakistan war: Even as the fog of the post-Pahalgam war slowly settles on both sides of the border, a series of new, unexpected allegations have emerged to keep the India-Pakistan cauldron bubbling. Shafi Burfat , the Chairman of Jeay Sindh Muttahida Mahaz ( JSMM ), has issued a sharply critical statement saying that Pakistan's military elite is exploiting Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), to advance its geopolitical motives, news agency ANI reported on May 20. The 'Punjabi army and establishment' is using Bhutto to spearhead an anti-India campaign on the world stage, Burfat alleged. In a message shared on X, Burfat said Bilawal is being lured with aspirations of power, including the possibility of attaining the Prime Minister's office, in exchange for leading international diplomatic efforts against India. He characterised this as a recurring betrayal rooted in a long-standing pattern by the Punjab-dominated military elite. Live Events Burfat further accused the PPP of consistently failing to uphold the true interests of Sindh or its people. According to him, the party functions primarily as a proxy for Punjab, prioritising the agenda of feudal elites rather than fighting for Sindhi autonomy or rights. He dismissed Bilawal as 'naive, power-obsessed, and lacking seriousness,' accusing him of echoing misleading propaganda about India in alignment with the Pakistani establishment. Additionally, Burfat highlighted the deep-rooted historical, spiritual, and cultural links that connect Sindh to India, outright rejecting the portrayal of India as a foe. He referred to India as a 'spiritual and cultural sister' of Sindh, emphasising that throughout history, Sindhis have regarded India as a friendly and cooperative neighbor. Going a step further, the JSMM leader charged Pakistan's military with serving as a destabilising force in the region, manipulated by foreign states such as China and Turkey for targeting India. He cited alleged instances of Pakistani involvement in violence, including acts in regions like Pahalgam , and strongly condemned what he described as the military's engagement in terrorism. Burfat also made it clear that Bilawal's actions on the global platform do not mirror the beliefs or desires of the Sindhi population. He urged world leaders, particularly those in India, to acknowledge this disparity and to understand that Sindhis do not endorse the anti-India rhetoric being disseminated by Pakistan's military and political elite. In his concluding remarks, Burfat reiterated a grim caution to Bilawal, asserting that the military establishment is using him as a pawn, just as it did with other members of the Bhutto family, who were ultimately eliminated. He condemned what he termed a 'vicious and deceptive tradition' upheld by Pakistan's ruling forces. "We Sindhis view India as our ally and neighbour. If the Punjabi-controlled establishment perceives India as a foe, that is their perspective—not ours," the news agency quoted Burfat as saying.
