Anass Salah Eddine 'wanted' by Rangers as Roma set brutal transfer rules
Russell Martin is in need of depth at left-back with Jefte and Ridvan Yilmaz set to leave Rangers have reportedly revived their interest in Roma left-back Anass Salah-Eddine this summer. The Scottish Premiership side previously showed an interest in taking the 23-year-old on last summer- before he made his move to Twente permanent last summer. But Rangers could be in the market for a left back against with Ridvan Yilmaz looking increasingly likely to leave the club alongside Jefte. The Brazilian is on the verge of a £6million move home to Palmeiras, and while Jayden Meghoma has arrived on loan from Brentford to cover the departure Russell Martin appears to be looking to add more depth. Il Messaggero report that Elche and the Glasgow giants are among the suitors who are ready to make contact with the Serie A side. Salah-Eddine was only signed by the Italian giants in January for €8.5m plus a further €2m in potential add-ons but has failed to impress impress new coach Gian Piero Gasperini in pre-season. Il Tempo report he has been told to find himself another club before the end of the window and has brutally been frozen out of the first team picture. However, it is claimed Roma will want assurances from potential suitors that include a future payday. The club are said to only be willing to listen to offers to take the left-back permanently or a loan with option to buy. However, earlier this summer the player's agent insisted he was keen to stay and fight for a spot at Roma: 'Anass is happy in Roma and highly motivated and looking forward to the start of the season under Gasperini'. Jayden Meghoma explains Rangers loan transfer decision
The Brentford left-back sealed a loan move to Ibrox for the rest of the season, confirmed by the club as their latest signing yesterday evening. It comes with Jefte on the verge of joining Palmeiras for £6 million and the expectation Ridvan Yilmaz will also move on. Youngster Robbie Fraser just joined Dunfermline too, leaving the club short of options in that area. The manager worked with Meghoma before at Southampton and he had a spell on loan at Preston North End last season. The 19-year-old loved the playing style Martin adopts and says his coaching methods are still fresh in the memory, which will equip him for the season. On top of that, Rangers as a club and its history helped persuade him to head north. 'I'm very excited," he told Rangers TV. "It's a fantastic club and I know a lot about its history. Read more: 'Knowing the manager was probably the biggest influence coming here. I know Russell from my time at Southampton, I think he's a fantastic coach and I understand the way he plays, so I think for me to get integrated into the team, it'll be quite quick. 'It makes you feel more at ease because you know how he plays. He's a manager that I'm familiar with. 'All the learnings I've taken from him over the past, I can still remember. It's fantastic for me to get integrated straight away and understand how to play his style of football. 'Russell handed me my debut at Southampton. I think it was against Gillingham in the Carabao Cup. I felt comfortable straight away. 'The way he played, there's a lot of possession-based football and it's something I really enjoy, so I thank him for that. 'When the deal was presented to me, I just thought straight away it's a fantastic opportunity for myself and my family. I was always going to be here because it's an amazing club and a fantastic club that has so much history. So, yeah, it was always Rangers. 'The main thing is results. If I can add to that, it'll be amazing.'

He made his Premier League debut in December last year before being farmed out to Preston North End in the Championship. The move is subject to international clearance, but if all paperwork is concluded in time, Meghoma could make his Rangers debut against Club Brugge on Tuesday in the Champions League play-off round first leg at Ibrox. Rangers do not have an option to buy at the end of this season. 'I am really pleased to welcome Jayden to Rangers,' said Martin. 'I have worked with him before, and I know exactly what he brings. Rangers confirm Jayden Meghoma as Jefte replacement signed
Brazilian left-back Jefte will complete a £6 million move to Palmeiras back in his homeland and Russell Martin confirmed he was ready to move quickly with an interest in Meghoma. The 19-year-old has now checked in at Ibrox for the season after 12 appearances on loan at Preston North End last season. Meghoma told the club's website: 'I am very excited to be here, it is a fantastic club, and I know a lot about the rich history of Rangers. When the deal was presented to me, I thought straight away that it would be a fantastic opportunity for myself and my family. 'The main thing for me is getting results. Rangers could, in theory, register the new arrival to play in Tuesday's Champions League qualifier with Club Brugge as they can make up to two changes to the already registered squad. However, they are still awaiting international clearance for Meghoma so that could potentially hamper that.
