The Office's Jenna Fischer Defends ‘Really Good' Show After Steve Carell's Exit

Jenna Fischer loves , even the seasons after Steve Carell's exit. Fischer, who played Pam Beesley for all nine seasons, recently wrapped Office Ladies, a rewatch podcast series with fellow cast member Angela Kinsey. After watching all 201 episodes, Fischer has some thoughts about the later seasons. One of the more heated debates involving The Office revolves around the show's final two seasons. Noticeably absent from Seasons 8 and 9 is Carell, who played Michael Scott. Carell exited the show after the seventh season. Many consider Michael's departure a turning point in the show, as The Office's final two seasons were less celebrated and received more criticism. Fischer recently spoke about The Office on Fly on the Wall with Dan Carvey and David Spade. After completing the podcast, Fischer defended the quality of Seasons 8 and 9. 'My biggest takeaway from having rewatched it was that it's really good the whole time,' Fischer told Carvey and Spade. Fischer is aware of the criticism the show received post-Carell. However, Fischer notes that some of her favorite moments happened in those final two seasons. 'I think there was this lore, especially among the cast and the creatives, that maybe we hit our peak in Season 3 or Season 4,' Fischer explained. 'And also this belief that the two seasons after Steve left, we were just treading water and maybe they weren't as good. But when I watched everything, some of my favorite episodes were in Seasons 8 and 9 after Steve had left. There were still these amazing storylines.' Fischer's favorite moments occurred between Seasons 4 and 6, which include the Dinner Party episode and the Michael Scott Paper Company storyline. The Office ran for nine seasons from 2005 to 2013. All 201 episodes are streaming on Peacock. The post The Office's Jenna Fischer Defends 'Really Good' Show After Steve Carell's Exit appeared first on - Movie Trailers, TV & Streaming News, and More.

Gajraj Rao Says Pam From The Office Reminded Him Of This Indian Actress

Last Updated: Gajraj Rao wrote a special tribute for the popular American sitcom The Office, saying he was moved by Jenna Fischer's performance as Pam Beesly. Actor Gajraj Rao often shares his thoughts on films, series and acting on social media. Recently, he wrote a special tribute to the popular American sitcom The Office. The Badhaai Ho star called the John Krasinski and Steve Carell-starrer 'one of the finest sources" of laughter after watching all nine seasons twice. He was moved by Jenna Fischer's performance, which reminded him of classic Bollywood characters like Ms Chamko from Chashme Buddoor and Swaroop Sampat from Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi, who are 'endearing, understated and unforgettable." He also praised Jenna's autobiography, which explores her tough journey before landing the role of Pam Beesly and how it changed her life. Taking to Instagram, Gajraj wrote, 'Laughter is the best medicine, and in my opinion, the American hit sitcom The Office is one of the finest sources of this remedy. I've watched all nine seasons twice in the past six years, and I'm already planning another serving in the coming weeks. Each cast member is an outstanding performer with pitch-perfect comic timing. Jenna Fischer is one of them. Her portrayal of Pam Beesly reminds me of Ms Chamko from Chashme Buddoor or even Swaroop Sampat from Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi, endearing, understated and unforgettable. Jenna made Pam one of the most charming and relatable female characters on television." 'A few years ago, Jenna wrote a beautiful autobiography. While browsing on Storytel recently, I stumbled upon the audiobook version, narrated by Jenna herself. I started listening during my evening walks, and within 10–12 days, I had finished it. The writing is warm and engrossing, and Jenna's voice makes the experience even more personal. It feels less like a book and more like sitting with a friend or an old acquaintance, listening to her life story unfold. The book traces her eight-year-long struggle before Pam happened, and how that changed everything," he added. Gajraj added that he could understand a lot of Jenna Fischer's experiences as an actor because many performers go through similar ups and downs, whether they are in New Delhi or New York. He believes there is no simple path to success, but Jenna's story shows how to stay strong and focused during hard times. He thinks her book is very helpful, especially for youngsters who want to become actors, but it also offers lessons for older readers. Gajraj thanked Jenna for being honest about her journey and said her story is inspiring. ‘The Office' cast celebrates show's 20th by celebrating each other's greatest moments (exclusive)

Any Office fan who's done their fair share of rewatching the classic NBC comedy (which turned 20 this week) will readily be able to rattle off two or three — or a whole top 10 list — of their favorite moments from the show, the ones that make them laugh out loud just thinking about them, the ones they probably quote regularly in their own lives. And as we just learned, our favorite stars from The Office feel the same way. Jenna Fischer, Craig Robinson, Oscar Nuñez, Brian Baumgartner, Kate Flannery, Angela Kinsey, Phyllis Smith, Creed Bratton, and Ellie Kemper celebrated The Office anniversary week by celebrating each other, sharing with Gold Derby their favorite moments featuring their costars. More from GoldDerby 'The Studio,' 'Mid-Century Modern,' 'Mufasa,' and the best of what's streaming this weekend A K-pop crisis, 'The White Lotus' lesson and what to read this weekend: March 28, 2025 The controversies plaguing Oscar-winning documentary 'No Other Land,' explained Here are their picks. 'My favorite moment of the show is … the last words spoken in the show. Jenna Fischer as Pam summing up perfectly the reason we were there for a decade: 'There's a lot of beauty in ordinary things.' ... Isn't that kinda the point?' 'When Rainn Wilson [as Dwight Schrute] said, 'You are evil like a Hobbit.'' Bratton is referring to a popular blooper that never made it on air, but cracked up his cast mates when Dwight was writing a note to Angela. READ MORE: 'The Office' turns 20: The 6 classic episodes that helped win the show's only Best Comedy Series Emmy Season 3 'Phyllis' Wedding': 'I love the scene between Steve [Carrell, who plays Michael Scott, the office manager] and Phyllis in the episode when they are in her dressing room before the wedding. Both of them are just so hilarious with one another!' Season 4, 'Launch Party': 'I love the scene where Meredith [Kate Flannery] asks Jim [John Krasinski] to sign her pelvic cast from when Michael hit her with his car. I just love Kate in that scene so much. Fun fact: John Krasinski accidentally signed his real name instead of Jim Halpert.' Season 4, 'Dinner Party': 'Literally everything Melora Hardin [as Jan] does in that episode. Most notably her cringy dance to 'Just One Night' … especially the weird twirl she does of herself while Jim is still seated.' Season 9, 'Livin' the Dream': The scene that breaks my heart every time is when Oscar invites Angela to live with him. Both Oscar and Angela are so good in that scene. It's the thing that I love so much about The Office … it makes you laugh and then two seconds later, without warning, it breaks your heart.' 'One of my all-time favorite moments from The Office is "The Injury" in Season 2, when Michael Scott calls in because he burnt his foot on the George Foreman Grill. The phone call itself is so perfectly delivered by Steve and the talking head where he explains why he makes bacon by his bedside on his Foreman grill in the first place, because he doesn't have a butler … perfection!' 'The 'PDA' episode in season 7 where Michael Scott is sitting on Holly's lap in the conference room, during a meeting, and then kissing with their mouths so wide open … it was really hard not to laugh out loud. I loved watching Steve Carell and Amy Ryan work together. [Note: this isn't the exact scene she was talking about, but is from the same episode and on the same theme] 'Steve Carell is truly one of the smartest, funniest, most talented actors of our time. I am so lucky I got to work with him and watch him closely for all those years.' 'Rewatching The Office for my podcast, Office Ladies [cohosted by Fisher], has been an absolute joy, and one character in particular has become my standout favorite. Phyllis! She eats up every scene she is in. From her epic fights with Angela, to her sass with Pam, her love of Bob, and her work-wife relationship with Stanley [Leslie David Baker] … I find myself rooting for Phyllis. She makes me laugh and she makes me cry. If you want to see fantastic writing and acting, watch Phyllis' talking head in 'Secret Santa' in Season 6. Even reading it on the page, I can hear Phyllis Smith's amazing performance: 'I have been wanting to be Santa for years. I believe I have the right temperament, and the figure to do the job well,' Phyllis said to the documentary cameras. 'I slipped a note to Jim eleven weeks ago, and he said I could do it. [she awkwardly hugs Jim] It's been a long journey … but [sniffles] I'm Santa Claus!'' 'It is impossible to name a favorite! But I have always loved 'The Injury.' To me, that episode just captures the essence of The Office — it is so weird and so brilliant and just so funny. Rainn is insane in that episode, so funny. I remember watching it when it came out and thinking how there was nothing like that on TV." 'My favorite scene in The Office is when Michael and Dwight have like this western standoff/showdown where Dwight lied and said he went to the dentist (he went to talk with Jan) and Michael knew he was lying and asked 'What's the dentist's name?' And Dwight, unprepared for this question, answered 'Crentist.'" 'The most heartfelt moment for me on The Office was when Jim tells Pam in the parking lot that he was in love with her. 'The upsetting moment for me was when Stanley yells at Michael in the 'did I stutter?' scene. 'And the most funny, cringeworthy scene for me was when Michael kissed Oscar on the lips.' 'When Kevin is sitting on Michael Scott's lap in the Christmas episode.' Goodman Theatre unveils star-studded centennial season

Goodman Theatre on Tuesday announced its 2025-2026 programming, which is a celebration of the downtown theater's 100-year anniversary. Why it matters: The Goodman is Chicago's oldest theater and it elevates local talent and attracts big names. Its productions and artists have received two Pulitzers and multiple Tony Awards. Zoom in: The theater's premiere production this fall, "Ashland Avenue," is locally inspired by a family business on the titular street and will star Jenna Fischer, who played Pam in "The Office." Other productions include August Wilson's "Ma Rainey's Black Bottom" starring Chicago actors Chuck Smith and Harry J. Lennix, and the world premiere of the musical comedy, "Iceboy! or The Completely Untrue Story of How Eugene O'Neill Came to Write The Iceman Cometh," anchored by Megan Mullaly. Zoom out: The theater company is also launching "100 Free Acts of Theater," which will feature free productions in all 50 wards. The intrigue: Goodman is leaving its home base on Dearborn to present "Theater of the Mind," from former Talking Heads leader and creative force David Byrne, at the Reid Building on LaSalle. Described as an experience rather than a show, "Theater of the Mind" promises to engage all the senses and is inspired by "historical and current neuroscience research." What's next: "Ashland Avenue" opens Sept. 6. Go deeper: See all Goodman's centennial celebration events.
