The Office's Jenna Fischer Defends ‘Really Good' Show After Steve Carell's Exit

Fischer, who played Pam Beesley for all nine seasons, recently wrapped Office Ladies, a rewatch podcast series with fellow cast member Angela Kinsey. After watching all 201 episodes, Fischer has some thoughts about the later seasons.
One of the more heated debates involving The Office revolves around the show's final two seasons. Noticeably absent from Seasons 8 and 9 is Carell, who played Michael Scott. Carell exited the show after the seventh season. Many consider Michael's departure a turning point in the show, as The Office's final two seasons were less celebrated and received more criticism.
Fischer recently spoke about The Office on Fly on the Wall with Dan Carvey and David Spade. After completing the podcast, Fischer defended the quality of Seasons 8 and 9.
'My biggest takeaway from having rewatched it was that it's really good the whole time,' Fischer told Carvey and Spade.
Fischer is aware of the criticism the show received post-Carell. However, Fischer notes that some of her favorite moments happened in those final two seasons.
'I think there was this lore, especially among the cast and the creatives, that maybe we hit our peak in Season 3 or Season 4,' Fischer explained. 'And also this belief that the two seasons after Steve left, we were just treading water and maybe they weren't as good. But when I watched everything, some of my favorite episodes were in Seasons 8 and 9 after Steve had left. There were still these amazing storylines.'
Fischer's favorite moments occurred between Seasons 4 and 6, which include the Dinner Party episode and the Michael Scott Paper Company storyline.
The Office ran for nine seasons from 2005 to 2013. All 201 episodes are streaming on Peacock.

And this season brings a group of Floridians looking for love, or at least "like," in Fiji. Although the episode was posted 44 minutes late, the premiere started off strong, with plenty of lip-locking, couple drama and even two bombshells entering the villa on the first night. Here's what you missed on the first episode of "Love Island USA" season seven, who coupled up, which cast members are from Florida and how to watch the second episode tonight, Wednesday, June 4. Instead of "coupling up" based on looks and first impressions, the ladies made their choice of who to "couple up" with after choosing two guys to make out with first. Host (and Floridian) Ariana Madix explained these couples will not only be living together but will take part in challenges and share a bed, emphasizing the importance of chemistry. However, the couples that formed on last night's episode most likely won't remain partnered up for the entire six weeks. But her first pick, Ace, was stolen by fellow Floridian Yulissa. Earlier in the episode, she shared she had already met Ace back in January outside of a club. After she was coupled up with Austin, she said in a confessional that he was attractive, but stressed that it was only day one and she was keeping her options open. The following day, she shared that Ace was at the top of her list. Chelley and Ace ended up chatting about their initial meeting and their attraction to one another. They both seemed open to exploring their relationship more, despite not being coupled up currently. During the final challenge of the episode, Chelley kissed Ace and received a kiss from Ace, as well as from a new bombshell in the villa: George Georgiou. After Nicolas was coupled up with Belle-A, they discussed her boundaries and why she opted for a kiss on the cheek rather than a make-out session. While she is a frontrunner for Nicolas, he said he would still try to mingle with the other ladies. The following morning, he told Ace that him and Belle-A got more comfortable over the night. But he added that he also wanted to get to know Olandria, after they shared a kiss. During the final challenge of the episode, Nicolas kissed Olandria. He also received a kiss from new bombshell Cierra Ortega. Yulissa ruffled some feathers after she stole Chelley's partner, Ace, during the couple shuffle. However, the two seemed to hit it off afterward when discussing their heritages and families. In a catch-up with the ladies later, she said she wasn't trying to be messy and felt she had to "do what (she has) to do." The following day, she said she felt nervous around Ace but was ready to step outside her comfort zone. During the final challenge of the episode, Yulissa did not kiss anyone else but received a kiss from new bombshell George Georgiou.
