RBNC receives grant and help from Home Depot for new greenhouse

WICHITA FALLS (KFDX/KJTL) — River Bend Nature Center now has a new greenhouse, thanks to the folks at The Home Depot. After receiving a $7,000 grant, multiple employees with Home Depot's Operation Surprise stopped by to help assemble and install the new greenhouse, which will be right outside the Butterfly and Nature Conservatory. Seymour to host Spring Fling next month This comes as renovations are being made to several portions of RBNC, which Executive Director Jennica Lambert said will hopefully be ready around the beginning of the summer. Assistant Store Manager for Home Depot Stephany Vasquez said they're just happy to be a part of something that will help future generations for years to come. 'Jennica is a really good partner with us, and we love what they do here in the community for everybody. 'And we just thought, you know, we'd try to see if the Home Depot Foundation would help fund this project,' Vasquez said. River Bend Nature Center features wildlife encounter with Creature Teacher

WICHITA FALLS (KFDX/KJTL) — River Bend Nature Center will host Creature Teacher on April 23 and 24 at 9 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. Creature Teacher is an animal show that brings in animals many have never seen. Wichita Falls' James Lane AC & Plumbing wins top award 'I don't know about you, but I've never gotten to hold a Kudamundi,' said Jennica Lambert, RBNC executive director. 'There'll be kangaroos, tegus, pythons; I think they have a kookaburra, so it just depends who's in the mood to travel that day.' This show will allow people to learn about the animals and their importance to their ecosystem, and even touch the animals. This event is open to the public and to private groups as well, such as schools. RBNC asks that groups of 10 or more register ahead of time. General admission is $6 for adults and $5 for kids. WICHITA FALLS (KFDX/KJTL) — The River Bend Nature Center is set to host what they said will be an 'exciting evening where science meets seduction.' 'Sip N' Science: Wild Romance' is an event for persons ages 21 and over. The event is set for Friday, Feb. 28, 2025, from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 for River Bend Nature Center members and $25 for non-members and include beer, wine, and snacks. LOCAL NEWS: River Bend Nature Center undergoing major renovations Jennica Lambert, Executive Director of the River Bend Nature Center, will host the event, which includes an interactive dating game. She said the night will be all about how animals find their perfect match. 'It's all about animal courtship,' Lambert said. 'So I'm going to be talking about local animals, all the way from vinegaroons to mockingbirds to fireflies, about what they do to engage the opposite sex.' WICHITA FALLS (KFDX/KJTL) — Love is in the air, and the wild as River Bend Nature Center explores how animals find their perfect match, from the mockingbird's lovesongs to the firefly's glowing signals. St. Patrick's Day Street Festival gearing up for 25th year Attendees will have a chance to get up close and personal with some of River Bend's native animals while enjoying a spread of hors d'oeuvres and a selection of wine and beer. Jennica Lambert, executive director of River Bend, will present the evening's science and lead guests through an interactive dating game. The event is Friday, Feb. 28, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and is limited to adults ages 21 and up. Those planning to drink must bring their ID with them.
