‘American Pie' star Jason Biggs admits digging through trash for cocaine during drug addiction
"American Pie" actor Jason Biggs is pulling back the curtain on the darkest days of his drug addiction—and the harrowing lengths he went to feed it. Biggs, now 47, revealed a startling glimpse into his past, as he opened up about his struggle with substance abuse in his 20s. At the height of his fame and addiction, Biggs admitted he once rummaged through his trash can just to get one more hit of cocaine. "Being 22 with money in the bank and coke in my pocket and no one saying no to me," Biggs shared on the "Well with Arielle Lorre," podcast earlier this week. "I lived in the gray area, but I have 'snorting dust off the floor' stories or similar to that," he recalled. "One of my craziest stories was, I was doing cocaine by myself in my house, and I did what I said was the last line." Bigg's candid confession shared how deep his addiction had taken hold. Alone in his house and desperate to extend the high, Biggs said what he thought would be his "last line" of cocaine quickly turned into something far more disturbing. The "Orange is the New Black" actor remembered it was 4 a.m. and his wife, Jenny Mollen, was asleep. While Biggs was restless, he attempted to stop himself from doing more drugs by throwing the cocaine into the trash can. "Within 15 minutes, as soon as my last bump is wearing off, I'm like, what am I doing? I go into my trash, and I take it out and I do a line." But the spiral didn't end there. "Before I took the Ambien, I was like, 'One more,'" Biggs continued. "I went outside and I climbed into the trash bin and got the bag of coke and went upstairs and did another line. I was like, 'What the f— am I doing? This is absolutely insane.'" In March 2024, Biggs opened up about his battle with alcoholism. "I'm going to therapy and 'working on things', but meanwhile, I'm leaving therapy, having just had a good session, and I'm going to the liquor store and buying a fifth of vodka, drinking it and then driving home," he shared on his wife Jenny Mollen's podcast. Biggs confessed at the time that he had hidden his alcoholism from his wife, but she had never noticed it. "I had it figured out to a T — to not get too drunk where I couldn't have a conversation with you," he remarked. The couple got married in 2008 and share two sons, Sid and Lazlo. In 2018, Biggs took to Instagram to share his sobriety journey. "I first tried to get sober over 5 years ago, when the weight of my obsession with booze and drugs became too heavy for me to handle. Turns out this s--- is hard. After some fits and starts, I've managed to put together one year of sobriety. I'm as proud of it as anything in my life. If you're struggling, know there's help. Don't be ashamed. We can do this."

Jason Biggs Recalls Climbing Into Trash Can at 4 A.M. to Snort Cocaine amid Addiction: ‘Absolutely Insane'
Jason Biggs opened up about his struggle with drugs and alcohol during the height of his career while living in Los Angeles The American Pie star recalled climbing into the trash can to retrieve cocaine he had already thrown away He said he was able to get his health on track after moving to New York, and has been sober since 2017Jason Biggs is sharing one of his 'craziest stories' with addiction, and the moment he climbed into a trash can to snort cocaine. The 47-year-old actor appeared on the June 4 episode of the Well with Arielle Lorre podcast and opened up about the height of his drug and alcohol addiction. Following the success of American Pie early in his career, Biggs said that with fame, he 'learned very quickly' how rare it was for people to say no to him while he was living in Los Angeles, which escalated his substance abuse. 'Being 22 with money in the bank and coke in my pocket and no one saying no to me,' he said. Biggs told Lorre that when he met and married his wife Jenny Mollen, he was using drugs and drinking alcohol much more than she knew. He was 'blocking everything out with drugs and alcohol… and it just got worse and worse.' The Orange Is the New Black actor then recalled one of the lowest points of his addiction. 'I lived in the gray area, but I have 'snorting dust off the floor' stories or similar to that,' he began. 'One of my craziest stories was, I was doing cocaine by myself in my house, and I did what I said was the last line.' In an attempt to stop himself and go back to bed, he threw the drugs into the trash can. 'Within 15 minutes, as soon as my last bump is wearing off, I'm like, what am I doing? I go into my trash, and I take it out and I do a line,' he said. In another attempt to stop, Biggs said he went outside and put the rest of the cocaine into the trash can in front of their house. 'OK, I'm done,' he told himself before going back inside and grabbing an Ambien to help him sleep. 'Before I took the Ambien, I was like, 'One more,'' he said. 'I went outside and I climbed into the trash bin and got the bag of coke and went upstairs and did another line. I was like, 'What the f— am I doing? Biggs said that he constantly struggled with sobriety while living in Los Angeles. 'I would find myself alone and isolating and I would find myself breaking whatever sobriety I had. It was incredibly fragile, obviously, in those early days,' he said. Biggs explained that despite having met some great people in L.A., living there wasn't good for his health, and the environment made his drinking worse. He said moving to New York was life-changing and a 'healthier place' for him to get his life on track. 'There's something about the energy of New York that gives me something, that fills me in a way that Los Angeles couldn't. But I do believe coming to New York helped me. So, I did fall off the wagon here, but that was seven and a half years ago and it's been going well." Biggs has been sober since 2017 and shared his first anniversary of sobriety on Instagram in October 2018. 'I first tried to get sober over 5 years ago, when the weight of my obsession with booze and drugs became too heavy for me to handle,' he wrote alongside a photo of a silver coin that read, 'To thine own self be true' and has the engraved words 'unity, service, recovery.' 'Turns out this s--- is hard,' he said at the time. 'After some fits and starts, I've managed to put together one year of sobriety. I'm as proud of it as anything in my life.' Biggs concluded by encouraging those who are also battling addiction not to give up. 'If you're struggling, know there's help,' the star wrote. 'Don't be ashamed. We can do this. 💪🙏.' American Pie star admits snorting cocaine out of stranger's TRASH at 4am at depths of drug addiction
JASON Biggs has revealed he retrieved a bag of cocaine from the trash THREE times in one night in his lowest moment battling addiction. The American Pie star said he tried to get rid of it multiple times at 4am - initially chucking it in his own kitchen trash before taking it out to do some more. 4 4 He then threw the rest into an outdoor bin, but later climbed into the bin to retrieve the drugs. He finally drove to a public trash can on Sunset Boulevard but later drove back and found it again. Biggs explained his wife, actress and author Jenny Mollen, was asleep upstairs completely unaware of what was happening. In a raw interview on Arielle Lorre's The Well podcast, the 47-year-old actor recounted moments that brought him dangerously close to rock bottom. 'I lived in the gray area, but I have 'snorting dust off the floor' stories or similar to that,' Biggs said. 'One of my craziest stories was I was doing cocaine by myself in my house, and I did what I said was 'the last line'.' 'Within 15 minutes, as soon as my last bump is wearing off, what am I doing?' he said. 'I go into my trash, and I take it out and I do a line.' He then attempted a more drastic step but again, the urge took over. 'Before I took the Ambien, I was like, 'One more,'' he recalled. Actress Jasmine Mooney stars in 2009's American Pie Presents The Book Of Love 'I went outside and I climbed into the trash bin and got the bag of coke and went upstairs and did another line. I was like, 'What the f–k am I doing? This is absolutely insane.'' Determined to stop, Biggs got in his car while high and threw the cocaine into a coffee cup with leftover coffee inside, then placed it in a public trash can. Still, the pull of the drug was stronger than him. 'When my last bump wore off, I drove back to the trash can and retrieved the drugs,' he said. 4 'I could have easily opened the baggie and dumped it down the toilet, but I didn't. That's too final. 'I knew I was going to finish that bag the moment I got it, but I kept playing this game with myself. That was very close to rock bottom.' Biggs, who shares two sons, Sid, 11, and Lazlo, 7, with Mollen, described how his addiction had taken over every part of his daily life. 'For me, it was the obsession over it,' he said. 'It was wake up and immediately think, 'How am I going to get my first line?'… It was exhausting and I was sort of consumed mentally.' Now more than seven years sober, Biggs says 'There is a freedom that comes with not having to do those things anymore.' In 2018, the Orange Is the New Black actor celebrated one year of sobriety with an emotional Instagram post, writing: 'I first tried to get sober over 5 years ago, when the weight of my obsession with booze and drugs became too heavy for me to handle. 'Turns out this s**t is hard. 'After some fits and starts, I've managed to put together one year of sobriety. I'm as proud of it as anything in my life. If you're struggling, know there's help. Don't be ashamed. We can do this.' Biggs has since reflected on the effort it took to conceal it his addiction. 'I'm going to therapy and 'working on things,' but meanwhile I'm leaving therapy, having just had a good session, and I'm going to the liquor store and buying a fifth of vodka, drinking it and then driving home,' he said on a March 2024 episode of All the Fails, hosted by his wife. 'I knew how to get wasted enough to where I took myself out of the life equation, took myself out of the present, didn't have to connect in a way that made me feel things,' he added. 'I had it figured out to a T. To not get too drunk where I couldn't have a conversation with you. 'I was replacing those bottles in the bar all the time.' RISE TO FAME After his American Pie role as the angsty teen who tried to masturbate with an apple pie, Jason appeared in several romcoms. He had a starring role in Boys and Girls, Saving Silverman, Wedding Daze and All at Once. His most notable role outside 1999's American Pie, however, was in hit series Orange is the New Black as journalist Larry Bloom. Earlier on, between 2012 and 2014 he received backlash for misguided jokes on social media, where he appeared to make fun of the doomed Malaysian Airlines Flight 17 and mocked the death of The Bachelorette contestant Eric Hill. He later apologised for the tweet about the tragic aircraft. Jenny Mollen since 2008.

American Pie star Jason Biggs admits to snorting cocaine out of a trash can
American Pie star Jason Biggs has opened up about his past battle with drugs and alcohol - which saw him doing cocaine out of a trash can. The actor, 47, admitted to going on cocaine benders in a brutally honest interview on the Well With Arielle Lorre podcast this week. He said: 'I knew when I needed to call the coke dealer because I was gonna drink too much, and how much Ambien to take or benzos to take based on how much coke I'd had so I'd come down but hopefully not die.' After shooting to fame at 19 in the American Pie franchise, Biggs boasted that he had, 'money in the bank, coke in my pocket and nobody saying no to me.' He added: 'It was [amazing] but I was also aware of crazy that was.' The actor admitted to getting so blacked out during coke and booze-fueled benders that he'd forget what he did the night before. Sharing how dark his addiction became, Biggs admitted to hiding his drug use from his wife Jenny Mollen, who he married in 2008. He added: 'I was drinking a lot by myself and using a lot by myself and not telling my wife. 'I took advantage of her... I felt like I was able to put things past her and I did,' he then admitted that he would stay up into the early hours of the morning drinking alcohol and doing coke after his wife went to bed. At his lowest point, Biggs found himself doing drugs out of a trash can. Sharing the unbelievable story, the actor said that he was up snorting cocaine at 4am while his wife slept when he decided to throw out the bag, which still had some coke in it, to make himself stop. He threw the bag inside the trash in his kitchen and tried to go to bed, only to return fifteen minutes later to dig it out and do another line. In his second attempt to discard the bag, he went outside and put it in the large trash bins out the front of his Hollywood home. He initially planned to pop an Ambien and go to sleep, but soon the temptation of another bump became too much to resist. Biggs said: 'I went outside and I climbed into the bin and got the bag of coke out and went upstairs and did another line.' Fed up with his behavior, Biggs then got into his car and drove down Sunset Boulevard until he found a random house. Rifling through their garbage, the star found a discarded Starbucks cup with some coffee left in it at the bottom. He put the bag of cocaine inside and closed the lid, before tossing the filthy cup back into the bin and leaving. Biggs drove home, but turned the car around and returned to the garbage to fish the bag of coke out of the cup so he could do another line. He said: 'I drove back home and finished the bag of coke. 'I could've just easily opened the baggie and dumped it down the toilet, but I didn't. I knew I was gonna finish that bag the moment I got it, but I kept playing this game with myself.' The father-of-two became sober in 2017 and celebrated his first year of sobriety with a touching post in 2018. At the time, he wrote: 'I first tried to get sober over 5 years ago, when the weight of my obsession with booze and drugs became too heavy for me to handle. 'Turns out this sh*t is hard. After some fits and starts, I've managed to put together one year of sobriety. I'm as proud of it as anything in my life. 'If you're struggling, know there's help. Don't be ashamed. We can do this.'
