I was so excited after buying a dupe for Jenny Packham's £3.7k sequin dress on Shein – but was horrified by what arrived

SHOPPING online can be a gamble, as sometimes what arrives looks nothing like the photo. This was certainly true of one woman who was excited to have found a dupe for a Jenny Packham £3,700 gown on Shein. 4 4 The floor-length gorgeous gown was adorned with sequins and had glamorous shoulder capes which cascaded down the back. However, the reality of what arrived was far from this image. Dr Morgan Tracy, 28, uploaded a clip of the Shein dress arrived in the post, and it looked like a completely different gown. On her @morgantracy8 account, she wrote: 'Wait for it. 'The worst dress I've ever seen… I am shooketh.' Instead of a heavy sequined material, the Shein dress appeared to have a photo of the other dress printed onto some thin material. There were also no caped shoulders in sight. Morgan added: 'Dude it's SOOO bad!! my mom was gonna wear this to my wedding.' Unsurprisingly, she added: 'Yeah we are gonna find her a different dress.' People were shocked when they saw the expectation vs reality photos in the clip. One said: 'OMG LMAOOOOOOOOO.' Another added: 'Omg.' The fast fashion brand has become the go-to-destination for low cost clothes, with influencers doing mega hauls with endless items on Tiktok. But Morgan hasn't been the only person to experience the horror of opening a parcel to find that what she ordered is very different to what she received. BUYER'S REMORSE Emily Probst ordered a ball gown from the fast fashion giant, only to be sent a dress that looked 'not even close' to the pictures. 'I suppose this is what I get for using Shein,' she said on Facebook. 4 4 Emily picked up a dress with a satin skirt and sleeveless mesh bodice adorned with glitter and gems. In a weird turn of events, she was sent a short-sleeve frock littered with sequins. The only similarity was the length of the dresses and the blush pink colour. 'It's not even close,' one person commented. 'The original has barely any sequins on it and the one you received is drowning in them,' another social media user added. 'How does that make sense?' What is Shein and is it legit? Shein is an online-only fast-fashion retailer, based out of China, that has become a number one shopping destination for many around the world. The company was valued at $66billion in 2023, dwarfing that of popular high street brands Zara and H&M. The fashion retailer was founded in late 2008, by entrepreneur and marketing specialist Xu Yangtian, also known as Chris Xu. Shein is a legitimate selling website and is not a phishing scam. But you may receive a disappointing order or run into shipping issues if you order from the site, according to reviews. There have been swathes of quality complaints, which makes sense when looking at the price tag.

It featured a floor-length cape and a metallic look, which she paired with a Grecian style updo. Even Danial Craig, who played Bond in the film, was reportedly impressed, telling the princess, "You look jolly lovely," according to U.K. broadsheet The Times. Princess of Wales's personal stylist quits after 15 years

The Princess of Wales's personal stylist has announced she is leaving after 15 years at Kensington Palace. Natasha Archer, whose official role is senior private executive assistant to the Prince and Princess of Wales, will leave the royal household to set up her own private consultancy. The 37-year-old has been described as an invaluable member of the palace team, helping to source the Princess's outfit options and contributing to her pristine public appearance. The Telegraph understands that members of Kensington Palace have wished her the best for her new role. Bethan Holt, author of The Duchess of Cambridge: A Decade of Modern Royal Style and The Telegraph's Fashion Director, said Mrs Archer has wielded significant influence in the fashion world. 'Natasha became one of the UK's most powerful, yet understated, fashion brokers, with the ability to bring a label immediate recognition and success if she suggested it to the Princess,' she said. 'She's probably the most powerful woman in British fashion you've never heard of.' Mrs Archer joined the Prince and Princess's office as a personal assistant in 2010 after spending three years in the same post for the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester. She entered the public eye in 2013 when she was one of the first to arrive at St Mary's hospital after the birth of Prince George. She carried the blue and white polka dot Jenny Packham dress that the then Duchess of Cambridge wore to introduce her firstborn son to the world. By 2014, she was reported to have transitioned into the role of style adviser and wardrobe manager for the Princess. She has been seen often loading vanity cases and suit carriers on to the royal plane during tours abroad or tending to the Princess behind the scenes when needed. When the Princess wore a grey wrap coat by SENTALER, the luxury brand's founder told The Telegraph she had worked with Mrs Archer to provide options. 'Her stylist discovered SENTALER and reached out to us directly. The entire relationship is very organic,' Bojana Sentaler explained. During a royal tour of India in 2016, the Princess wore a printed dress by Anita Dongre, the Mumbai-born designer, which Mrs Archer was believed to have altered. 'In India, a lot of women would wear this ['Gulrukh' dress] with trousers and a stole,' Ms Dongre told The Telegraph. 'Her stylist has taken the stole and converted part of that into the belt and then chopped it off so it can be worn as a dress. She's amazing – it looks easy, breezy and so contemporary.' Mrs Archer, who is married to Chris Jackson, the Getty royal photographer, received a Member of the Victorian Order at Buckingham Palace in 2019 for her services to the family.

Jenny Packham Resort 2026 Collection

'We just make sure we're ticking the boxes of what people expect from us and want from us,' Jenny Packham says of her resort 2026 collection. What do they want exactly? The designer pauses before answering. 'A wow factor,' she says. That 'wow factor' often comes in the form of a color. This season, Packham embraced vibrant sunset hues and ombré shading—she said she felt inspired by the rare blooms one might find in the jungle or on display at the Chelsea Flower Show: 'We started off with quite some exotic lilies and orchids as inspiration, which have amazing colors.' (Sometimes that interpretation is quite literal: one dress, for example, is detailed with a Slipper Orchid motif, whereas a structured black evening jacket comes embroidered with dahlias. Another gown features a black tulle cape with cascading, petal-like accents.) The 'wow' also comes in the form of embellishments. Packham loves a sequin, a crystal, a bead, and used them liberally throughout this collection: a sparkly floor length gold dress looks like an Oscar came to life; a gradient evening gown that starts with purple rhinestones at the neckline and ends with a rose pink sequin hem feels like something Ariel from The Little Mermaid would wear if she walked a red carpet with her newfound legs. Examine look 20, and you'll see it is similar to the famous lavender Jenny Packham dress Kate Middleton wore to the ARK 10th Anniversary Gala Dinner in June 2011—but in black. 'It doesn't mean that it's over the top. It just means that it's got that power punch,' Packham said. 'It's about walking in the room and everybody thinking, 'That's a great dress.'' Over the past few months, Sarah Jessica Parker wore custom Jenny Packham while promoting And Just Like That in Paris, Sarah Bareillies attended the Tonys in one of her plunging, silver sequin gowns, and Dita Von Teese recently wore a navy peplum dress during a press appearance for her West End show, Diamonds and Dust. Sometimes, it's better not to keep it plain and simple.

True extent of Princess Kate's cancer battle revealed

Don't miss out on the headlines from Royals. Followed categories will be added to My News. On June 15 last year Kate, The Princess of Wales really put the 'trooper' into Trooping the Colour and appeared at the annual celebration of the sovereign's birthday, despite being in the middle of chemotherapy. She wore a suitably formal hat and waved with her signature aplomb. But what no one knew at the time was that underneath her Jenny Packham dress there was a port in her chest. A port is a medical device used to draw blood and give treatments, including intravenous fluids, blood transfusions, or drugs such as chemotherapy and antibiotics. Now, new details have come out about how 'serious' the princess' 2024 health battle was with it being claimed she 'is fortunate' to have survived. Holy hell. Buckle up - the word 'serious' is going to appear in this story a lot. Until now, the severity of Kate's 2024 fight has never been revealed, with details hither too thin to the point of non-existence. Kensington Palace has remained firmly tight-lipped about what sort of cancer she had and it was only in January that the world learnt she had been a patient at Chelsea's Royal Marsden Hospital. The Princess of Wales revealed she had cancer. Picture: Danny Lawson / POOL / AFP (During an emotional visit there in January she talked about the 'secrecy' of her treatment and having to use side doors for 'so many quiet visits'.) Kate at Trooping in 2024 might have looked as we have always seen her - perfectly turned out and doing some Olympic-level smiling but behind the scenes, she was reportedly going 'to hell and back'. On Tuesday the Daily Mail's royal editor Rebecca English published a shocking report offering details about what the princess was privately enduring. Even before the dreaded 'c' word entered the picture, per English, the mother-of-three was 'seriously unwell' in the 'run-up' to having 'serious' abdominal surgery in January. In March, as Kate herself announced that testing 'after the operation found cancer' and that she was having chemotherapy. And then comes a bit of a blank in the Kate story. It would be six months before she and husband Prince William and their kids filmed a dreamy video meditation on life, love and the healing power of family and a nice old gnarled oak, in which she announced she had finished her treatment. Kate pictured earlier this month. Picture: Yui Mok/Pool Photo via AP The Mail's new report offers details about those mystery months and the severity of what Kate faced. According to English, when she began treatment last year, she 'was fitted with a semi- permanent 'port' into her chest. 'This small device was inserted under the skin and kept in place until her treatment (delivered via the port through a special needle and a thin tube in vein close to the heart) was over, several weeks later.' It was, the veteran royal editor writes, 'a literal lifeline - which offers no cast-iron guarantee of success, even if you are a royal.' The princess, per English 'is fortunate to even be speaking of recovery' today. The severity of Kate's illness has not been detailed before. This startling new report comes a week after the princess reportedly triggered 'chaos' and 'panic' inside the palace after pulling out of Ascot only half an hour before she was set to arrive at the generally set-down-in-stone event. William and Kate posted a video ton social media. Picture: Instagram Royal staffers, The Daily Beast's Tom Sykes reported, were left 'bewildered and worried' by the dramatic change with rumours briefly swirling around that Kate 'either needed to see a doctor or had been rushed to the hospital.' The Princess of Wales' withdrawing from the event, a source told English on Tuesday, 'is a good reminder that she was really seriously ill last year and underwent a significant period of chemo…It can take years [to recover]'. Similarly a 'well-connected' source has told the Beast's Sykes that the Ascot mini-debacle was 'a wake-up call, not a one-off' and that Kate 'is recalibrating her entire life' after a 'horrific' few years. What that practically means is that Kate is 'expected Kate to dramatically scale back her public appearances for the rest of the year,' per the Beast. The world was shocked after Kate revealed what she had been going through. Picture: Supplied Expect the princess to be seen at Wimbledon, starting June 30, and during the French state visit in July, but we could be in for a very Kate-lite year. English reports that while an overseas tour 'cannot entirely be ruled out' it seems unlikely. In November Willliam will be off to Rio de Janeiro for his Earthshot Prize awards but he could well be travelling solo. The princess possibly going is officially still 'TBC', she reports, 'but my gut feeling is probably not.' As English reported earlier this year, the Princess of Wales has 'been to hell and back'. But what has become clear in the wake of the Ascot mess is that there is 'back' and there is 'back'. The story was all over the globe. Picture: Supplied How long until the princess is ready to return to anything like per-cancer workload is the great unknown. We will next see her courtside at All England Lawn Tennis Club and after that toasting the Macrons but after that, the next Queen is set for a hopefully unbothered Wordsworthian summer stint in Norfolk and Scotland of long walks and lounging about in appropriately elasticised trousers.
