Man facing weapons charges after barricading himself inside home: Cape Breton police
A 32-year-old man is facing charges after barricading himself inside a Sydney Mines, N.S., home, according to the Cape Breton Regional Police.
Officers responded to a complaint early Tuesday morning that the man was inside a home he was not permitted to be in on Barrington Street. Police were also told the man previously had weapons in his possession.
The Emergency Response Team and Crisis Negotiators also responded.
'After ongoing attempts to have the man respond to police, officers obtained a warrant to enter the home for his arrest,' reads a news release from the Cape Breton Regional Police.
Police say Emergency Response Team members found the man hiding in the attic and he was arrested.
A search warrant was executed at the property after the man's arrest. Police say they seized firearms, ammunition and cocaine.
Jeoffory Ryan Caldwell has been charged with:
possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
unauthorized possession and careless use of firearms and ammunition
possession of a prohibited firearm

multiple breaches of previous court-ordered release conditions
Caldwell was scheduled to appear in Sydney provincial court on Wednesday.
