The story of how Jeremy Fry became a viral Boston Celtics dance sensation

It is not often that it is a random fan in the seats of a Boston Celtics game that becomes the story of the night, but back in 2009 during the Ubuntu-era Celtics, that is exactly what ended up happening. The story of how Boston fan Jeremy Fry became a viral sensation at the dawn of viral sensations themselves due to his spontaneous lip-synched version of the 1980s hair metal masterpiece "Livin' on a Prayer" by Bon Jovi is a legendary one. And there is perhaps no one better to tell that tale than Fry himself, who sat down with the local independent media to give some of the background of how that unreal moment ended up coming together. Fry took some time to talk with the people behind the "Celtics KG 17" YouTube channel, digging into the inspiration of a viral Celtics moment for the ages. Check it out below to hear what he had to say for yourself.

The night of the greatest-ever Boston Celtics fan performance at TD Garden

Longtime fans of the Boston Celtics may remember a night in 2009 when they witnessed what might be the greatest spontaneous fan performance in the history of the NBA. It was a typical midseason tilt unfolding in the TD Garden as the Celtics took on one of 29 opponents when the Jumbotron stopped for a second on a section of the assembled fans in the seats. Over the loudspeakers, the 1980s hair metal hit "Livin' on a Prayer" was blasting its first, plaintive notes out, and inspiration struck one of the attendees, Jeremy Fry. He began lip-synching the lyrics while throwing himself up and down the stairs in his section and interacting with other fans in the process, to huge support from all in attendance. We can't do it justice with our own words, so check the work from the folks behind the "Starr Cards" YouTube channel as they put together a clip of that moment captured on video. Check it out below!
