Commanders Running Back Ready 'To Prove Who I Am' In 2025
Commanders Running Back Ready 'To Prove Who I Am' In 2025 originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Motivation for players can come in a variety of different forms, but for Washington Commanders' running back Brian Robinson Jr., being in the last year of his rookie deal is more than enough. Advertisement After three solid seasons in Washington, "B-Rob" developed into a staple of the offense, but with Dan Quinn and this new regime sweeping through the franchise, change has come, and it won't stop. Robinson Jr. is hoping he isn't part of that change next offseason, but there is one way to ensure he sticks around in the nation's capital – play well. 'That's been the goal since I stepped foot on this campus, is just to prove who I am to not only the program but to myself,' Robinson said. 'Biggest year to do that, just to continue to show who I am and what I'm about, and I'm excited to be able to continue along here and to show why I'm here and I'm supposed to be here.' Granted, he is yet to play a full season, but what better time to do it than when you have a contract to play for? Washington Commanders bring back running back Jeremy McNichols
The Washington Commanders continue to keep their own. On Tuesday, the Commanders re-signed veteran running back Jeremy McNichols to a one-year deal. McNichols, 29, completed his eighth NFL season in 2024, serving as Washington's No. 3 running back. With injuries to Brian Robinson Jr. and Austin Ekeler, McNichols saw plenty of time. The Commanders were McNichols' 10th NFL team in eight seasons. He took advantage of his opportunities last season, playing in all 17 regular-season games, making one start, and rushing for 461 yards and four touchdowns. McNichols averaged 4.7 yards per rushing attempt. McNichols was outstanding in pass protection, which likely helped him earn more snaps while Washington tried to protect rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels. McNichols also played in all three playoff games, rushing for a touchdown in Washington's upset of No. 1 Detroit in the NFC Divisional Round. As of now, the Commanders have all of their 2024 running backs under contract for 2025: Robinson, Ekeler, McNichols, Chris Rodriguez Jr., and Michael Wiley. Washington would like more explosive plays out of the backfield, which has many thinking the Commanders will take advantage of a deep running back class in the 2025 NFL draft.
