Young actor only credited with Jersey potatoes advert lands major role in Harry Potter series

A young actor whose only previous professional credit is for an advert about Jersey Royal potatoes has landed a major part in the new Harry Potter series. Alastair Stout will play Ron Weasley with the trademark ginger hair - he was chosen from around 32,000 children who auditioned for the three lead roles in the HBO TV drama. He will be joined by Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter and Arabella Stanton, who will play Hermione Granger. Alastair's CV on his management's website currently only has one entry, listing his part as "Son at Dinner" in Albert Bartlett's 'Roll On Jersey Royal Season' commercial. His talent agency says this breakout role in the Harry Potter revival will showcase "his dedication, impeccable humour and natural talent that will win the hearts of many". The director of that advert, Martin Aamund, adds: "Good for him, I'm just so happy when I hear people that I've been working with make it to the big stage and take that huge leap up. "They've been on set in the lights and know what it's all about, which is a good exercise because it's not that different. When he goes to Harry Potter, it's still just a set but of course, it requires much more of him as an actor. I'm happy he tried it with me first." Alastair's casting is likely to keep him busy for many years as HBO expects the drama could run for a decade, with a series intended to focus on each of the seven books. Executive producers Francesca Gardiner and Mark Mylod said: "We are delighted to announce we have found our Harry, Hermione, and Ron. "The talent of these three unique actors is wonderful to behold, and we cannot wait for the world to witness their magic together onscreen." They will star alongside established actors such as John Lithgow as Professor Dumbledore and Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid. A official release date for the new series is yet to be announced.

Cast for the three leading roles in new Harry Potter TV series announced

The makers of a new Harry Potter television series have found their Harry, Ron and Hermoine. HBO announced the line-up for the three leading roles on Tuesday. Dominic McLaughlin will play Harry Potter, in the latest announcement on the reboot. Arabella Stanton will be Hermione Granger and Alastair Stout will portray Ron Weasley. The newcomers were chosen from around 32,000 children who auditioned for the lead roles. The three children are "newcomers", according to HBO, while Arabella's agent says in her acting CV that she has been in musical productions, including Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber's Starlight Express and the Royal Shakespeare Company's Matilda The agent has listed him as appearing in Albert Bartlett's Jersey Royal potato advertising campaign and having a "northern" accent. The Harry Potter series is described as a 'faithful retelling' of the books about the boy wizard by J. K Rowling, featuring a new cast. Each season is intended to focus on one of the seven books, though HBO anticipates the series could stretch to a decade-long run. Executive producers Francesca Gardiner and Mark Mylod said: "We are delighted to announce we have found our Harry, Hermione, and Ron. "The talent of these three unique actors is wonderful to behold, and we cannot wait for the world to witness their magic together onscreen. "We would like to thank all the tens of thousands of children who auditioned. It's been a real pleasure to discover the plethora of young talent out there." In April, the list of actors who will play some of the adult roles in Harry Potter was made public. Tony, Emmy and Olivier winner John Lithgow will take over the role of Dumbledore. The US actor has said he is 'very excited' and 'very intimidated' to play wizard and Hogwarts headmaster. The eight films saw Dumbledore portrayed by Irish actors Richard Harris and Sir Michael Gambon. Also featuring in the cast for the new series are Ozark actor Janet McTeer as Professor Minerva McGonagall, I May Destroy You star Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, and British stage actor Luke Thallon as the first book's main antagonist Quirinus Quirrell. While the show hopes to honour Ms Rowling's source material, she will "not run the show day to day or serve as its primary creator", it is reported.

Roasted Jersey Royals with crunchy seasonal salad

Jersey Royal season is short so it's best to make the most of these tasty new potatoes while you can. Known for their nutty flavour and delicate skins, Tesco Finest Jersey Royals are the perfect addition to a spring salad. Here, I've roasted them until golden and crisp, and piled them on to a platter with seasonal asparagus, feta and crunchy almonds. It's all finished off with one of my go-to dressings: Tesco Finest Greek yoghurt whipped up with nutty tahini and lots of green herbs. Prep 15 min Cook 45 min Serves 4 750g Tesco Finest Jersey Royals, halved 3 tbsp Tesco Finest Sicilian extra virgin olive oil, plus extra for drizzling200g Tesco Finest Jubilee asparagus 100g bulgar wheat 100g Tesco Finest barrel-aged feta 25g toasted flaked almonds For the dressing1⁄2 head garlic, roasted with the Jersey Royals 150g Tesco Finest Greek yoghurt 2 tbsp tahini Handful parsley Handful mint, plus extra to serve1⁄2 lemon, juiced Suggested wine pairing Tesco Finest Western Australia chardonnay Heat the oven to 220C (200C fan)/425F/ gas 7. Add the potatoes to a saucepan of cold, salted water, bring to the boil and then cook for 12 minutes or until a knife goes in easily. Drain through a colander and leave to steam dry for 10 minutes. Tip on to a lipped baking tray and toss with the olive oil, a good pinch of salt and the half head of garlic for the dressing. Roast for 15 minutes. Add the asparagus and roast for 8-10 minutes more, until it is tender. Meanwhile, cook the bulgar wheat according to package instructions. Let cool a little. Squeeze the roasted garlic out of its skin into a blender with the yoghurt, tahini, herbs, lemon juice and 50-70ml of water. Season with salt and blend until smooth. Add the bulgar wheat and most of the almonds to the tray with the roasted potatoes and asparagus. Then pile everything on to a large sharing plate, finishing with the dressing, remaining almonds and crumbled feta. Drizzle with extra olive oil, sprinkle on mint, and serve. We have a lot of people who are regulars and locals are genuinely happy we are here. 'We have hit the ground running, and we have even started to supply local businesses with our products as well.
