Victim of weekend shooting downtown has died, Toronto police say
Jeshua Gabriel Buchoon, 36, has been identified as the man shot in downtown Toronto last Saturday, police said. Buchoon suffered life-threatening injuries and died Wednesday, police said Thursday in a news release. Officers responded to a call reporting gunshots around John Street and Adelaide Street W. after 10:30 p.m., police said. They arrested three suspects nearby and recovered a firearm. Two men have since been charged with various firearm offences, while a third suspect was released with no charges. Buchoon was also hit by a driver who was attempting to flee the scene of the shooting, police say. This person was not involved in the shooting incident and the incident is being investigated by traffic services, which has not laid any charges. Chris Kim previously told CBC Toronto that he saw a group of six men fighting in the middle of the road, before one of them pulled out a gun and fired several shots at another man. The charges against the two suspects are expected to be upgraded given that the incident is now a homicide investigation, police said.
