Bearcats Head Coach Bump earns ECAC Softball Coach of the Year

VESTAL, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – The Binghamton Bearcats softball season may have come to an end, following great success, but that doesn't mean that the awards have stopped, including for Head Coach Jess Bump. The Bearcats won the America East regular season and the conference tournament before heading off to the NCAA Tournament and falling in the Eugene Regional in Oregon. In recognition of the team's success, Coach Bump was named the 2025 ECAC Division I Softball Coach of the Year. She's the first coach to lead Binghamton to a sweep of the regular season and the tournament. This is the first time that Binghamton has landed the ECAC Softball Coach of the Year. The team also earned 3 ECAC first-team all-stars, the most in program history, in Brianna Roberts, Emma Lawson, and Brianna Santos. Roberts makes her second straight appearance on the ECAC All-Star Team. She earned many accolades this season, including America East Pitcher of the Year and the America East Tournament Most Outstanding Player. Lawson is an ECAC All-Star for the first time in her career. She was also a first-team America East all-conference selection and was named to the conference All-Tournament Team. Santos also makes her first appearance on the ECAC All-Star Team. She was named first-team all-conference and was also a member of the America East All-Tournament Team. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Binghamton Bearcats Softball prepares for AE Tournament; Sweep Conference Honors

VESTAL, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – After being co-regular season champs last season and coming up short of the America East Championship, the Binghamton Bearcats Softball team dominated the competition this season, going 16-2 in the AE, and head into the tournament as the 1 seed. The team went 33-12 in the regular season and currently sits on a 7-game win streak. They are 9-1 at home, with their only loss at the Sports Complex being to out-of-conference Cornell. The team's conference losses came to the 2 seed, UMBC, in late March. They kick off their America East Tournament run on Thursday at 11 am, as they have a first-round bye, where they'll either face Bryant or UMass Lowell, which will be found out on Wednesday. 'I think that we knew right from the start of the fall that this was going to be a special team,' said Head Coach Jess Bump. 'They followed through and did everything that we were expecting them to do.' The tournament is hosted at the Bearcats Softball Complex. After the America East released the all-conference teams for 2025 on Tuesday afternoon, it was all headlined by Binghamton. Sophomore catcher and Groton native Elisa Allen was named Player of the Year in the conference. Junior Brianna Roberts got the nod for Pitcher of the Year. Rookie of the year was given to freshman Rachel Carey, and Head Coach Jess Bump repeated as Coach of the Year. The Bearcats are the first softball program in the America East ever to sweep all four major awards outright. In addition, Binghamton posted a conference-record seven first-team selections and nine overall picks. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Binghamton Bearcats Softball looks to continue recent success

VESTAL, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – The Binghamton Bearcats Softball team is gearing up for more action, as their 2025 season kicks off Friday in Florida. Coming off a regular season co-championship in 2024, tied at 14-6 with UAlbany, this time around they'll be looking to have the top spot all to themselves. 'I think we're more prepared than we could ever be,' said Head Coach Jess Bump. 'If we practice for one more week, I think we would be in the same exact spot as we are right now.' The team comes into the season ranked 2nd in the preseason poll, just 1 point behind Albany. They also have 5 players named to the preseason all-conference team, being catcher Elisa Allen, outfielder Brianna Santos, designated player Emma Lawson, utility Lindsey Walter, and pitcher Brianna Roberts. 'We really put extra effort into helping the freshmen and passing on the knowledge that we've gained on to them,' said Walter. The Bearcats will compete in 4 tournaments and 23 games leading up to their conference opener, which will be at the Bearcats Sports Complex against the Great Danes. Friday, 2/7 they kick off their season in the Stetson Tournament, facing Chattanooga at noon and the hosts at 5:30. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
