Dún Laoghaire Harbour Swim: the women's race in pictures

The 95th edition of the Dún Laoghaire Harbour Swim took place over the bank holiday weekend with 250 swimmers involved in the women's and men's races. Organised by Swim Ireland, the event is a handicapped 2.2km race inside the harbour walls, with swimmers starting from a slipway at the National Yacht club, making their way following a clockwise route to the end of to the pier before returning via the pier wall, inside the moored boats, and finishing back at the slipway they started from. In a staggered start, swimmers enter the water according to ability, with the best swimmers entering the race over 20 minutes after the first swimmers. Sunday's race was won by Bronagh Carey of Templeogue Swimming Club in a time of 47 minutes and 48 seconds. Jessica Purcell, from the Aer Lingus club, was the fastest swimmer, completing the race in 28.41. With her 23-minute handicap, Purcell finished 25th overall.
