Jasper County officials discuss Joplin road district finances Racist flyers hit Miami neighborhoods KSN's Jessica Schaer welcomes baby Colter on Good Friday This year's Earth Day Sustainability Conference kicked off this morning in the ballroom of the Billingsly Student Center. The conference featured booths promoting earth-friendly ideas—like reducing pollutants in watersheds. The idea is to have an impact on the future for the environment and the students. 'Pretty much everyone in the club is an environmental health and safety major, and so it's nice to meet, you know, we have an environmental scientist in there from Quapaw, we have people working conservation, so we get to kind of meet people and network a little bit,' said Payton Randolph, Environmental Health and Safety Club Member. We really are trying to develop that awareness in kids, teenagers, young adults, because that's where the future of a good environment lies.' Earth Day has been celebrated on April 22nd since 1970 and is observed in nearly 200 countries. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. 'Public safety is the foundation of a thriving community and state. It affects everything fromfamilies feeling secure to businesses having the confidence to invest and grow. We designed the Missouri Blue Shield Program to recognize communities that go above and beyond in creating a place where people want to live, work, and build their futures,' said Governor Mike Kehoe. Jasper County Sheriff Randee Kaiser says he is pleased with this recognition, noting that without a strong working relationship with leaders in the criminal justice system, the designation would not be possible. 'We work very hard every day to ensure our community remains safe and secure. I am grateful for the positive recognition of a job well done,' said Sheriff Kaiser. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc.
