What Eagles fans should know about the New York Giants before training camp begins
With mid-July fast approaching, we're looking at what Eagles fans should know about the New York Giants before training camp begins. The Eagles have one of the youngest teams in the NFL after several key departures and the retirement of Brandon Graham during the offseason. Such attrition provides the opportunity for younger players on the roster to assume larger roles while creating another Super Bowl window for a team that'll have new starters at several key defensive positions. Over the next two weeks, we will conduct mini-previews of four NFC East teams as they begin reporting for training camp, with the Giants' rookies set to report a week from Tuesday. Washington is next, with Philadelphia reporting on July 21 and Dallas reporting on July 22. Holland, 25, is a young, aggressive player known for being a good guy in the locker room. Chris Board, LB James Hudson III, OT Roy Robertson-Harris, DT Paulson Adebo, CB Adebo had 10 passes defended in just 262 coverage snaps last year before breaking a femur. He's just 25, which provides hope that he can continue to grow, and there's a chance he will develop into a true shutdown corner. QB Jameis Winston Winston is one of nine players in NFL history to throw for 5,000 yards in a season. He did so in 2019 when he became the first player in NFL history to pass for at least 450 yards in consecutive contests. QB Russell Wilson Wilson, 36, has started 199 regular-season games with the Seahawks (2012-21), Broncos (2022-23), and Steelers (2024). His 99.8 career passer rating ranks fifth in NFL history (minimum 1,500 pass attempts). Wilson is 121-77-1 as a starter in the regular season and 9-8 in the postseason, including two Super Bowl appearances. Wilson won Super Bowl XLVIII with the Seahawks, a 43-8 victory over the Broncos, at MetLife Stadium. Cam Skattebo is a versatile running back, strong in the red zone and capable of breaking tackles. When does training camp for the New York Giants begin? The New York Giants 2025 training camp will begin with rookies reporting on July 15th and veterans on July 22nd, with the first open practice scheduled for July 23rd. The public will be able to reserve tickets starting July 10th. The team will hold 11 practices open to the public at the Quest Diagnostics Training Center in East Rutherford, NJ. Giants' Safety Appears in NFL Position Rankings
Giants' Safety Appears in NFL Position Rankings originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The New York Giants invested a ton in free agent safety Jevon Holland this offseason. After four solid seasons in Miami, Holland inked a three-year, $45.3 million deal that includes $30 million guaranteed back in mid-March. Advertisement Holland was drafted with the No. 36 overall pick in 2021 and made a quick impression as a rookie. He earned All-Rookie honors and All-Pro honors from PFF. He didn't appear in ESPN's top 10 list of the best safeties, but he did earn an honorable mention. The list was compiled by Jeremy Fowler, who surveyed NFL executives, coaches and scouts. One of those executives cited a recent "regression" for why he might've missed the list. "I still love the skill set, but he drastically regressed last year, which was shocking to see from a young player in a contract year." -- NFL personnel director Advertisement But Holland's regression was slight last season. He appeared in 15 games and posted 62 tackles with 42 solo and two for loss. He added a sack and two QB hits. He also registered a forced fumble. The strength of his game was and still is "versatility." "He has that special buzzword -- versatility -- and can play deep safety and man-to-man out of the slot," ESPN's Cameron Wolfe wrote when Holland was drafted in 2021. "In fact, Holland played 64% of his coverage snaps in the slot at Oregon. Holland is a playmaker with nine interceptions over two seasons, which should help the Dolphins be better covering sideline-to-sideline and tackling speedy receivers." Giants Welcome 4 Free Agents to Minicamp
Giants Welcome 4 Free Agents to Minicamp originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The New York Giants have made their biggest moves of the off-season, making two first-round picks and signing several contributors, including quarterback Russell Wilson, safety Jevon Holland, and corner Paulson Adebo. Advertisement The player-acquisition phase of the off-season is over, but as the post-minicamp wait to training camp begins, several decisions must be made pertaining to the 90-man roster. This coaching staff has made a point to get the best 11 players on the field at the same time. That process begins by churning through fringe-roster candidates on the 90-man, hoping to find developmental projects and depth pieces for the 53-man roster in Week 1. Subsequently, the search is on, and will likely resume with training camp in late July. The Giants welcomed four free agents to minicamp on Tuesday. Chief among them was safety K'Von Wallace. He was joined by fellow safety Millard Bradford, edge rusher Kenny Dyson, and guard Carter O'Donnell, per Big Blue View. Advertisement Wallace struggled in his limited 2024 action with the Seattle Seahawks. In 2023, he split time between the Arizona Cardinals and Tennessee Titans. Where the New York faithful are most familiar with Wallace is his work with the Philadelphia Eagles. Wallace's versatility was a key part of his profile, allowing him to play the run and blitz while also taking typical free safety snaps. However, his coverage chops never quite stuck in the NFL, relegating him to increasingly minor roles. He figures to have a chance at the Giants roster/practice squad thanks to his special teams opportunities, which have helped keep him rosterable despite his inconsistencies. Bradford's only NFL snaps have come on special teams. O'Donnell, an undrafted rookie from the 2020 draft class, has the versatility to play both guard spots but only saw real action in 2023 (at left guard). Dyson, an undersized edge rusher without imposing athleticism, appeared in two games for the Carolina Panthers last season. Advertisement Getting looks this late in the off-season makes one a long shot to make the roster, but from this crop of candidates, it seems like Wallace is easily the most likely to earn a shot later in camp. The team did not announce any roster moves after the workout. CBS Sports names Paulson Adebo Giants' top offseason move
CBS Sports recently released its list of the best offseason additions for every team in the NFC, and for the New York Giants, it was the addition of veteran cornerback Paulson Adebo. Adebo joins the Giants after four years with the New Orleans Saints, where he developed into a physical, instinctive corner capable of handling outside coverage responsibilities. In New York, he's expected to start opposite Deonte Banks, who is entering his third season and looking to bounce back after a down 2024 campaign. Banks has showed flashes of potential but struggled with consistency, and the hope inside the building is that a more reliable partner across from him will help settle things down. Advertisement The Giants moved on from Adoree' Jackson this offseason, leaving a leadership void in the cornerback room that Adebo is now expected to help fill. His experience, ball skills, and toughness give the Giants something they didn't have last year a proven NFL starter with the ability to hold up against top receivers week in and week out. This is also Year 2 under defensive coordinator Shane Bowen. Bowen's scheme emphasizes communication, versatility, and discipline, areas where the Giants struggled last year, especially on the back end. The addition of Adebo, along with the free-agent signing of safety Jevon Holland, signals a clear commitment to tightening up the secondary. Holland, one of the most consistent safeties in the league during his time in Miami, brings leadership and playmaking range to a safety group that also includes second-year players Tyler Nubin and Andru Phillips, as well as returning veterans Cor'Dale Flott and Dane Belton. Between that young nucleus and the new look at cornerback, the Giants are hoping to put last season's secondary issues behind them. While most of the offseason buzz in New York centered on the quarterback room with the arrivals of Russell Wilson and rookie Jaxson Dart, CBS pointed to Adebo as the most likely newcomer to make an immediate difference on the field. Advertisement It's a fair assessment. Adebo isn't a headline-grabber, but he's steady, experienced, and gives the Giants a ball-hawking cornerback who can handle No. 1 wide receivers. There's still pressure on Banks to improve, and the rest of the secondary remains young, but with Adebo and Holland now in the mix, the Giants should be much-improved in the secondary. If this defense is going to take a step forward, Adebo is going to be a big part of the reason why. More from

Ducks Fly Together: Kayvon Praises Giants' Chemistry
Ducks Fly Together: Kayvon Praises Giants' Chemistry originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The New York Giants failed to live up to its presumed pass-rush synergy in 2024, dealing with injuries and struggles on the back end to create an underwhelming unit. Blame defensive coordinator Shane Bowen, the offense putting them behind the eight ball, or a talent level that didn't quite meet the hype, but New York was worse than the sum of its parts a season ago. Advertisement General manager Joe Schoen ensured that wouldn't be the case in 2025. In free agency, he immediately injected athleticism and ball skills into a unit that desperately needed it, signing corner Paulson Adebo and safety Jevon Holland. In the NFL Draft, New York found the class' best edge rusher, Abdul Carter, and promising defensive tackle Darius Alexander. This defense is filled to the brim with talent, but less tangible factors could make a similar impact. Giants edge rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux rekindles his Oregon connection with Holland and spoke about the team's chemistry at minicamp. 'Man, I love him having safety Jevón,' Thibodeaux said. 'I played with Jevón back in college and he's always been a field general. Paulson's great. He's been doing his thing. He's a leader. But I think just having that, those extra pieces definitely does add to the nucleus of the defense.' Advertisement Holland hasn't racked up accolades just yet, but he's widely viewed as a Pro Bowl-level talent. He had a lackluster season in terms of ball production in 2024, but there's reason to believe he can find the football, especially in a defense that's going to get after the quarterback. Across his first four seasons, Holland has generated five interceptions, five forced fumbles, and 25 passes defended. 'Yeah, he got a nose for the ball ever since college, he's been getting that ball out whether it's interceptions or punch outs and things like that,' Thibodeaux said. 'But he's definitely, he makes his teammates better and he knows everything that's going on, so I think that's definitely going to help some of the younger guys step up and then also help the defense as a whole.' Holland signed a three-year, $45.3 million deal, rather similar to Adebo's three-year, $54 million contract. The two, with similar skill sets and Pac-12 pedigree, will hope to change the fortunes of New York's defense. 'I think it's kind of interesting how Joe went and got a Stanford guy for (linebacker) Bobby (Okereke), an Oregon guy for me, and we got a couple Oregon guys on the team, but bringing in guys that know each other that can play well together, that can do what needs to get done.'
