"Mind-Blowing": Internet Lauds Artist's Hyper-Realistic Fish Thali Made Out Of Wax

A Jhansi-based artist is going viral on social media and for all the right reasons. Her talent lies in creating hyper-realistic food-themed candles. Quirky culinary-inspired keychains and fridge magnets are not a thing of the past. But this creative woman is taking her craft a notch higher by making incredibly lifelike illustrations resembling popular Indian dishes. Among her versatile candle arts, one that has recently grabbed attention is a unique and delightful fish thali candle. In a video she posted on Instagram, the artist shows off the fantastically detailed fish thali. The clip opens to the artist pouring wax on a non-edible fish kept inside a mould. Next, she drizzles yellow-coloured wax into two other moulds, which soon take the shapes of a pomfret and kingfish. Once dried, she scoops them out and coats the waxfish with a brown-shaded water colour so that they look roasted. After that, a sufficient amount of liquid wax is streamed into another bowl, and wax-made rice grains are added. Similarly, the skilled artist prepared shockingly true-to-life gravy and paper-thin chapatis/bhakris. Even the salad spread, comprising a lemon wedge, a slice of onion and a green chilli, is made entirely of wax. Can you believe it? To finish things off, the artist presents the delectable yet inedible thali in a traditional plate. We also spotted wax gulab jamuns on the plate. Ludhiana: Groom's dad attacked over inter-caste marriage tiff

A man was allegedly kidnapped and assaulted in Ludhiana by the family members of a woman who had recently married against her their wish. The incident happened in Gill Colony, Daba, on Saturday night. The victim, Jayant Kumar, was reportedly taken from his home by the woman's angry relatives after his son, Sooraj Kumar, married Mandeep Kaur through court on June 3. The couple had gone into hiding after their marriage. Sooraj's mother, Sarita Devi, said her son worked in a private company and was in a relationship with Mandeep, his colleague. Despite opposition from Mandeep's family, they got married and went to live together at an unknown location. Sarita said that on June 7, Mandeep's brothers — Vikramjit, Jaswinder, and Narinder Singh — along with their uncle Manjeet Singh and an associate named Kaushal, came to their house and demanded to know the couple's location. When the family said they didn't know, the group forcefully took Jayant Kumar with them. 'They kidnapped my husband and left. I saw Kaushal, my son's friend, helping them. I called the police right away,' said Sarita. She added that after the police contacted the accused, they sent her husband back in an auto-rickshaw. He had been badly beaten. Assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Gurwinder Singh from Daba police station said an FIR has been registered under Sections 140(3) (kidnapping) and 61(2) (criminal conspiracy) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against the accused, who are all from the Sahnewal area. UP's tiger reserves to grow perennial grasses with IGFRI Support

Pilibhit: Tiger reserves and forest divisions in UP are set to undergo a major transformation under a new grassland management programme , said officials from the forest department. In collaboration with Jhansi-based Indian Grassland and Fodder Research Institute (IGFRI), these areas will cultivate perennial grasses to ensure year-round green grazing grounds for wild herbivores—the primary prey base for tigers and leopards. Manish Singh, divisional forest officer of Pilibhit Tiger Reserve (PTR), sought technical assistance from IGFRI to implement this programme. The plan has received in-principle approval from Anuradha Vemuri, principal chief conservator of forests (wildlife), who also announced that the IGFRI-backed initiative will be extended to all tiger reserves in the state. Currently, tiger reserves face a green fodder shortage during winter months as dominant grass species such as Saccharum munja and Vetiver dry up and only regenerate with the arrival of the monsoon. This results in seven months of dry grass, forcing herbivores to raid nearby farmlands for crops like wheat, lentils, gram, and mustard. These crop raids not only cause significant losses for farmers but also attract predators like tigers into agricultural fields, increasing the risk of human-wildlife conflict. Singh said, "The Director of IGFRI has been requested to send a team of grassland experts to PTR to suggest suitable perennial grass species based on the region's climate, soil, and sub-soil water conditions. Given the variability in soil types across different ranges of the reserve, this will envisage the cultivation of different grass species." Ideally, grasslands in a tiger reserve should constitute 8 to 10% of the total core forest area. However, major grasslands in PTR, Dudhwa Tiger Reserve, and its components—Katarniaghat Wildlife Sanctuary (WLS), Kishanpur WLS, and Dudhwa National Park, South and North Kheri forest divisions, are currently dominated by Saccharum munja and Vetiver grasses, which need improved management. PTR and DTR cover core forest areas of approximately 620 and 1,107 sqkm, respectively, while the South Kheri forest division spans about 160 sqkm. Transforming around 10% of this vast area with perennial grass species presents a significant logistical and financial challenge for forest authorities. Notably, dry grasses also pose a serious fire hazard. Recently, the vast stretches of long dry grasses in Mala, Mahof, and Haripur forest ranges of PTR caught fire, reducing over 400 hectares to ashes. Despite the deployment of three fire tenders and additional police personnel, the fire caused extensive damage.

Armyman, four aides held for ‘kidnapping' Jhansi trader for ‘Rs 1.5 crore ransom'

A 32-year-old Army jawan and four of his associates have been arrested for allegedly kidnapping a Jhansi-based trader and demanding a ransom of Rs 1.5 crore for his release, police said. The Army jawan, Ghanendra Pratap Singh, a resident of Jhansi, is posted at Panagarh in West Bengal's Paschim Bardhaman district. The other arrested accused are Suraj Ahirwar (24), also a Jhansi resident, and Manendra Singh Parmar (35), Kamlesh Pal (20) and Shashikant Pal (25) of Madhya Pradesh. The accused allegedly released Madhav Mohan Gupta, 34, who runs an electronics shop in the Raksa area of Jhansi two days after kidnapping him on April 14, fearing their capture after the police intensified the hunt for them, the police said. 'Ghanendra was the mastermind of the kidnapping, while the other four helped him in the crime. The accused were traced with the help of phone surveillance and call detail records,' said Superintendent of Police (City) Gyanendra Kumar Singh. A pistol, four cartridges and two mobile phones were recovered from their possession, it is learnt. The SP said the Gupta had recently purchased agricultural land from Suraj Ahirwar's family. The police said it was found during the investigation that Ghanendra was under a debt of Rs 25 lakh which his family spent on his sister's wedding recently, SP Singh said. He planned the kidnapping to repay the debt, he added. According to the police, Madhav Mohan Gupta's father Mahesh Kumar Gupta filed a complaint stating his son was kidnapped on April 14 when he was returning home after closing his shop. The family later received a ransom call by the kidnappers from Madhav's mobile phone demanding Rs 1.5 crore for his release. Five police teams were formed to trace the accused and ensure the safe return of the trader. The accused kept him in a tractor-trolley, frequently changing their location to avoid detection, the police said. Ghanendra was on leave since April 8 and was supposed to rejoin service on Monday, it is learnt.
