"Mind-Blowing": Internet Lauds Artist's Hyper-Realistic Fish Thali Made Out Of Wax

NDTV5 hours ago

A Jhansi-based artist is going viral on social media and for all the right reasons. Her talent lies in creating hyper-realistic food-themed candles. Quirky culinary-inspired keychains and fridge magnets are not a thing of the past. But this creative woman is taking her craft a notch higher by making incredibly lifelike illustrations resembling popular Indian dishes. Among her versatile candle arts, one that has recently grabbed attention is a unique and delightful fish thali candle. In a video she posted on Instagram, the artist shows off the fantastically detailed fish thali.
The clip opens to the artist pouring wax on a non-edible fish kept inside a mould. Next, she drizzles yellow-coloured wax into two other moulds, which soon take the shapes of a pomfret and kingfish. Once dried, she scoops them out and coats the waxfish with a brown-shaded water colour so that they look roasted. After that, a sufficient amount of liquid wax is streamed into another bowl, and wax-made rice grains are added. Similarly, the skilled artist prepared shockingly true-to-life gravy and paper-thin chapatis/bhakris.

The artist makes super-realistic prawns in the same manner and paints them with a dark colour, giving the impression of a properly-cooked meal. Even the salad spread, comprising a lemon wedge, a slice of onion and a green chilli, is made entirely of wax. Can you believe it? To finish things off, the artist presents the delectable yet inedible thali in a traditional plate. We also spotted wax gulab jamuns on the plate.

Queen Maxima of Netherlands appears to mock Trump's expressions in viral video. Internet says ‘Do it again'

Queen Maxima of the Netherlands has been accused of mocking US President Donald Trump on live TV. In footage that has been widely circulated online, Maxima appeared to imitate Trump's distinctive facial expressions even as she stood right next to him. Did Queen Maxima just take a jibe at Trump? Internet certainly thinks so. The video was filmed in the Netherlands, where Trump spent less than 24 hours for the NATO summit. In the clip, the US president was seen standing next to the Queen and her husband King Willem-Alexander. During his time in the Netherlands for the NATO summit, Trump stayed at the Dutch royal palace Huis Ten Bosch instead of a luxury hotel. The trio's conversation seemed to centre around his stay. 'Well I hope you slept well!' the king told Trump. 'It was great, the house is… [inaudible]' Trump replied, before he broke off to smile for the camera. A split second later, Queen Maxima also turned and appeared to imitate Trump's expression. Footage of the moment has garnered millions of views on social media, with many saying the Dutch queen allowed her intrusive thoughts to take over for a second. 'She did let her intrusive thoughts in, and I can appreciate her for it,' read one comment under the viral video on Instagram. 'It's the way she really leaned in to study it then mocked it,' another said. 'Now why would she look into the camera like that? Do it again lol,' a third viewer requested. One person said it resembled a deleted scene from the workplace comedy The Office. According to AP, the president was offered — and accepted — the chance to sleep Tuesday night at the Dutch royal palace. King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima, Trump said, were 'beautiful people, great people, big, beautiful heart.' (With inputs from AP)

FWICE slams ‘Border 2' makers for casting Diljit Dosanjh, against their official boycott order

The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has strongly opposed actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh being cast in the upcoming film 'Border 2' and Imtiaz Ali's untitled project. They claim that casting him goes against their official boycott order. In the strongly worded letters dated June 24 and 25, FWICE wrote to T-Series Chairman Bhushan Kumar , director Imtiaz Ali, and actor-producer Sunny Deol . They urged them to rethink working with Diljit Dosanjh. The federation raised concerns about Dosanjh's collaboration with Pakistani actor Hania Aamir in 'Sardaar Ji 3', calling it a clear violation of national sentiment and unity within the film industry. In its letter to Bhushan Kumar, FWICE shared its 'deep disappointment' over casting Dosanjh in 'Border 2'. 'Such casting decisions are a disservice to the sacrifices made by our armed forces,' the letter read, adding that the collaboration "directly undermines the stand taken by the Indian film industry in solidarity with the nation." FWICE reiterates ban on Pakistani collaborations FWICE reminded the production house of its 2019 directive that bans any collaboration with Pakistani artists, a rule introduced after the Pulwama terror attack. The federation emphasized that this ban is still in place, especially in light of the recent Pahalgam terror attack , which tragically took the lives of several civilians, including children. In a separate letter to director Imtiaz Ali, FWICE acknowledged his valuable contributions to Indian cinema but urged him to reconsider his reported plans to cast Diljit Dosanjh in an upcoming film scheduled for release in April 2026. 'Collaborating with someone who openly disregards national sentiment by engaging with banned Pakistani artists is deeply disappointing,' penned on the letter. FWICE Appeals to Sunny Deol, Citing His Patriotic Legacy In its letter to actor Sunny Deol, who is closely associated with Border 2, FWICE requested his intervention in the matter. Referring to his strong image built through patriotic films like 'Border' and 'Gadar', 'We are confident that the values you have always upheld, both on screen and off, will guide you to take a stand in line with the nation's sentiments,' the letter stated. Urges Industry to Take Action The controversy started after Diljit Dosanjh cast Pakistani actor Hania Aamir—who has made anti-India comments online—in 'Sardaar Ji 3'. FWICE called this a serious insult to national feelings and said it shows a lack of respect for the country. The federation made it clear that its boycott of Dosanjh is still active. It warned that anyone working with him would be going against the unity of the film industry and the nation. FWICE ended its letters by asking everyone involved to act responsibly and take the right steps. As of now, Diljit Dosanjh and the filmmakers have not responded to these objections. Mira Nair's son nominated for NYC Mayor post

New York: Indian-origin politician Zohran Mamdani has clinched the Democratic Party's nomination to become the next Mayor of New York City. The 33-year-old state representative, son of noted filmmaker Mira Nair, mounted an aggressive grassroots campaign to defeat former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo. Zohran won NYC's Democratic mayoral primary on Tuesday night after Andrew Cuomo conceded the race in a stunning upset, as the young, progressive upstart built a substantial lead over the more experienced but scandal-scarred former Governor. Though the race's ultimate outcome will still be decided by a ranked choice count, Mamdani, a 33-year-old democratic socialist who was virtually unknown outside of political circles a year ago, was in a commanding position. Mamdani would be the city's first Muslim and Indian-American mayor, if elected. Zohran may not have followed in his mother's footsteps by becoming a filmmaker. But he's always had an eye for talent and an ear for a good story. Back when Mira was planning to adapt Jhumpa Lahiri's book The Namesake into a film, she faced a dilemma. She was also offered to helm the fourth instalment of the popular Harry Potter film franchise, Harry Potter and the G0blet Of Fire. Since Zohran was a huge Potterhead and would love reading the books by JK Rowling, Mira was conflicted whether she should trade the film adaptation she wanted to do for the one her son would've liked her to. So she asked her teenage son for an advice. 'Mama, any good director can make Harry Potter but only you can make The Namesake,' he said.
