Bosco Martis wishes Janhvi Kapoor gave him credit for Chuttamalle choreography: ‘If they don't realise...'

Choreographer Bosco Martis has made many stars dance to his tune in some of the most popular songs like Kala Chashma, Jhoome Jo Pathaan, Tauba Tauba, and more. In a recent interview with BBC Asian Network, Bosco spoke about choreographers not getting their due credit and expressed disappointment over Janhvi Kapoor not acknowledging him for the hit song Chuttamalle. (Also Read: Chuttamalle from Devara Part 1: Jr NTR, Janhvi Kapoor remind fans of NTR, Sridevi in romantic song) Bosco discussed how choreographers often go unrecognised and said, "The amount of hard work that has gone in and the amount of planning and expertise it took to make the song look the way it does—when the song is released and becomes a superhit, the choreographer is forgotten. A choreographer is not celebrated when the song is showcased for the first time. A star is celebrated because they are the face of the song, and the choreographer is given the backseat and sometimes becomes invisible. I have been vocal about this because I think it's time we speak about it. It's a little disheartening sometimes to not even see your name in the list of credits." Bosco went on to praise Vicky Kaushal for acknowledging him during the promotions of Tauba Tauba and celebrating him, letting the world know about his contribution. He also appreciated Hrithik Roshan for crediting him and talking about a step Bosco gave him in Mission Kashmir. However, when asked about not receiving credit for the Devara Part 1 song Chuttamalle, which went viral due to Janhvi's moves, Bosco said, "I wish Janhvi would have spoken about it in the promotions, but that's fine, it's okay. If they don't realise it, then they don't realise it. It's a switch. I don't know, I think the correction has to be made, but there's a scientific way of doing this instead of forcing yourself and making the call and asking someone, 'Why haven't you taken my name?' or 'Why are you not talking about me?'" Anirudh Ravichander composed the song, which is titled Chuttamalle in Telugu, Dheere Dheere in Hindi, Paththavaikkum in Tamil, Swaathimutthe Sikkangaithe in Kannada, and Kanninathan Kamanottam in Malayalam. Bosco Martis choreographed the number, with vocals by Shilpa Rao. The song from Devara Part 1 features Janhvi Kapoor and Jr NTR romancing on a beach. The song became a chartbuster, with many fans being reminded of 'senior NTR and Sridevi's romance'.

Bosco Upset Over Not Being 'Credited' For Chuttamalle Choreography: ‘Wish Janhvi Kapoor Spoke'

Last Updated: Bosco expressed his disappointment over not being acknowledged for choreographing Chuttamalle from Jr NTR and Janhvi Kapoor film Devara. Renowned choreographer Bosco Martis, known for viral Bollywood tracks like Jhoome Jo Pathaan, Kala Chashma and Tauba Tauba, is speaking out about the lack of credit given to choreographers despite their pivotal role in shaping a song's popularity. In a candid interview with BBC Asian Network, Bosco expressed his disappointment over not being acknowledged for choreographing Chuttamalle from Jr NTR and Janhvi Kapoor film Devara. The track has gained significant traction online, but Bosco revealed he hasn't been credited for it during the promotional run. 'I wish Janhvi would have spoken about it in her promotions, but fine, it's okay," Bosco said with a smile. He pointed out the contrast between how Vicky Kaushal handled a similar situation, sharing that the Tauba Tauba actor gracefully gave him credit in interviews and public appearances. Bosco further explained that the issue goes beyond just one song. 'If they don't realise it, I think, then they don't realise it. So, you do your work, and maybe it's a switch I don't know," he said while adding that many in the industry overlook the contribution of choreographers even when discussing iconic dance moves. The choreographer said that the industry needs to find a more structured and respectful approach to acknowledging behind-the-scenes talent. 'The correction has to be made. I think there's a scientific way of doing this instead of forcing yourself and making that call and talking to somebody, saying, 'You know, why have you not taken my name on the radio station or somebody talks about the dance move, why are you not talking about me?'" He suggested that a protocol should be put in place so that audiences automatically learn who choreographed a song, rather than relying on actors or directors to name-drop. 'It needs to be scientifically done, I guess. There has to be a protocol that needs to be set where people get to know about who is the choreographer instead of somebody having to endorse it," Bosco said. First Published:

He believes there should be a systematic, scientific way to ensure credit is given, rather than having to personally reach out and question why their name isn't mentioned on radio stations or when people talk about a dance move. According to him, acknowledgment should come naturally without the need to demand it. Advocating for a Clear Protocol Bosco emphasized the importance of creating a structured system that enables audiences to recognize the contributions of those working behind the scenes. He believes this process should be handled scientifically, with a clear protocol established to inform people about who the choreographer is, rather than relying on individuals to personally endorse or promote themselves.
