A New OnePlus Phone Is Set To Launch On April 24
OnePlus 13T colors The OnePlus 13 and OnePlus 13R were released in January, and the company hasn't announced any new flagship phones since. It has only confirmed that there won't be a OnePlus Open sequel this year. However, a new phone is in the pipeline, set to join the OnePlus 13 series on April 24. After posting several teasers, OnePlus has officially announced the release date for its next product, the OnePlus 13T. OnePlus China head Louis Jie took to Weibo to confirm the launch date of their upcoming smartphone. The OnePlus 13T is set to debut in China on April 24 at 2:30 PM local time. It will come in Morning Mist Gray, Cloud Ink Black, and Pink color options. The OnePlus 13T features a refreshing new camera module design that resembles the Pixel 9 Pro Fold and is said to house two 50MP cameras. According to Jie, OnePlus has 'defined the direction of minimalism, refinement, and flatness' with the phone's 6.32-inch screen, which will likely be an OLED panel with a 1.5K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. OnePlus 13T launch date announcement The OnePlus 13T sports a one-piece metal design with 'rounded R corners' and a narrow frame. From the teasers, it appears to have a matte finish on the back, similar to recent affordable phones from Apple and Google. Both the iPhone 16e and Pixel 9a feature a soft-touch matte finish. But unlike those phones, the OnePlus 13T isn't expected to compromise on optics. It is rumored to feature a 50MP primary camera and a 50MP telephoto sensor with 2x optical zoom capabilities. The new OnePlus phone will likely be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, placing it between the OnePlus 13R and OnePlus 13 in the lineup. It's also expected to pack a massive 6,200mAh battery with support for 80W fast charging. There's no word yet on wireless charging. Moreover, OnePlus is borrowing a feature straight from the Oppo Find X8 Ultra for its new phone. The OnePlus 13T will ditch company's signature Alert Slider in favor of a customizable button, similar to the Action Button on the iPhone 16 lineup. You'ill be able to customize it based on your preferences. While the April 24 launch is confirmed for China, the OnePlus 13T is expected to make its way to global markets eventually. However, there is no official word yet on global availability or launch.

What is Ching Ming Festival, known as tomb- sweeping day, and how is it celebrated?
Ching Ming Festival, also known as tomb-sweeping day, is celebrated 15 days after the spring equinox in the Chinese lunar calendar, and in 2025 falls on April 4. In mainland China and Hong Kong, the festival is a public holiday. What is the festival's origin? Its name originates from the saying 'plants start to revive and prosper at Ching Ming in a clean and bright way', according to People's Daily. The literal translation of the Chinese ching is 'clean' or 'pure', while ming means 'bright'. The festival was traditionally seen as marking both the beginning of warm spring weather and of farm work. Advertisement The customs of the festival as we know it today originate from hanshi jie, or the Cold Food Festival. According to legend, in the 6th century BC in the Chinese state of Jin, an exiled duke called Wen was starving and had no food to eat, so one of his followers, named Jie Zitui, cut a piece of his flesh from his thigh to make soup for Wen. To Chiu-sung, the owner of Chun Shing Hong paper offering shop in Sai Ying Pun, Hong Kong, with paper effigies of durian, lobster and long-leg crab. However, the story does not end well: when Wen eventually became the ruler, he forgot about Jie, who had moved to a remote mountain with his mother. When he learned of his saviour's whereabouts, he ordered his army to set the forest on fire, hoping to force Jie out of hiding. Advertisement The fire raged for three days and eventually the emperor saw Jie and his mother clinging, dead, to a charred willow tree. He buried them under the tree. Out of remorse, Wen decreed no fires were allowed on the anniversary of Jie's death, forcing people to eat only cold food; this marked the beginning of the Cold Food Festival.
