The actress in question is none other than Bollywood's famous actress Mumtaz, who was one of the most popular actresses of her time. Not only based on acting but also with her unique style, Mumtaz made her name in the world of cinema. Although this journey was not easy, there was a time when she worked as a background dancer and did multiple supporting roles. But after some time, she received multiple offers for lead roles. Mumtaz recently revealed in an interview that Jeetendra did not want to work with her. In 1967, filmmaker V. Shantaram starred Mumtaz as the lead actress in his film 'Boond Jo Ban Gayee Moti', and Jeetendra was paired with her.
V. Shantaram clearly said to Jeetendra that 'The heroine will remain here; if you don't want to do this film, then you can leave.' Shantaram had full faith in Mumtaz's art, acting, and beauty. He had known her since childhood. Recalling this incident, Mumtaz said, 'Sorry, Jeetu, but this is true.' She further said that in those times, no big hero was ready to work with me. In such a situation, Dilip Kumar saw her work and agreed to work with Mumtaz in the movie 'Ram Aur Shyam'.
Mumtaz further said that if Dilip Kumar ji had not done this, she would probably never have become an actress. After Boond Jo Ban Gayee Moti, Jeetendra and Mumtaz worked together in many films such as Jigri (1969), Maa Aur Mamta, Khilona (1970), Ek Nari Ek Brahmachari, Chahat Aur Kathputli (1971), Roop Tera Mastana (1972), and Nagin (1976).
