Local organizations accepting donations for flood victims

CLARKSBURG, (WBOY) — Following heavy rain and damaging floods in southern West Virginia, some north central West Virginia organizations are working to help. The Harrison County Chamber of Commerce said in a Facebook post that it 'will work alongside our member businesses and local churches and organizations to support flood relief efforts for Southern West Virginia.' Some supplies needed include: Bottled Water Blankets Non-Perishable Food Hygiene Products Clothes School Supplies Medical Supplies If you are interested in donating, call the Harrison County Chamber of Commerce at 304-624-6331. They will direct you to a collection point near you. PHOTOS: Strong winds cause downed trees, damage across West Virginia The Farmington Volunteer Fire Department in Marion County announced in a Facebook post that they will also be accepting donations and supplies, monetary included, in order to help those in need. 'It has come to our attention that Welch, Wv and surrounding areas have been drastically affected by the recent floods,' the department said in its post. 'We are looking to gather supplies to aid them in their time of need.' Governor Morrisey declared a State of Emergency for 13 southern West Virginia counties in response to the floods, urging all West Virginian's to remain alert and follow any instructions given by emergency management officials. All donations and supplies will be accepted at the department, which asks that you contact them before going. You can get in touch with Jim Toothman at 304-365-2239.
