Get free fried chicken at the opening of this world-famous restaurant in Miami Beach

An internationally famous fried chicken restaurant from South Korea is making its South Florida debut in Miami Beach. Known for its double-fried, hand-battered fried chicken, Bonchon — the name translates to 'my hometown' — opens its doors on Washington Avenue on April 10. The location plans to give away free fried chicken platters and T shirts to the first 50 guests. In addition to wings or drumsticks or a combination as well as strips or boneless wings, Bonchon will also serve other items on its Korean-inspired menu, including bulgogi (sliced marinated beef sauteed with mushrooms, scallions, sesame seeds and onions) and bibimbap (rice, scrambled egg, lettuce, carrots, sauteed onions, spinach and mushroom with the choice of tofu, chicken, bulgogi or other seafood). You can also order japchae, glass noodles tossed with red bell pepper, carrots, onions, spinach, mushrooms and bulgogi stir-fried with soy garlic sauce and sesame oil topped with sesame seeds. These entrees run between $14.99 and $19.99. The Miami Beach restaurant will also offer Korean donuts ($6.99) coated with cinnamon and sugar as well as a sweet cream dipping sauce. You can also order wine and beer, including local brews like La Rubia by Wynwood Brewing Co. The 3,000-square-foot restaurant will seat 70 guests. The brand, which was founded in 2002 by Jinduk Seo, first came to the United States in 2006, opening first in New York. There are more than 455 locations around the world, including restaurants in Jacksonville, Tampa and Orlando. Bonchon plans to open six more South Florida restaurants, including one in Doral in 2025. Bonchon Where: 905 Washington Avenue, Miami Beach Opening: April 10 Hours: Noon-11 p.m. Sunday-Thursday; noon-midnight Friday-Saturday. More information:
