No out-patient services at Jipmer on Saturday on occasion of Bakrid
The Out-Patient Department services at Jipmer will be closed on Saturday, June 7, on the occasion of Bakrid, a Central government holiday . In a press release, the Jipmer urged patients not to visit the OPD on the holiday. However, emergency services will function without any interruption.

Jipmer plans to open a unit in Mahe, says L-G
The Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research is working towards establishing its centre at Mahe region, Lieutenant Governor K. Kailashnathan said on Thursday. Addressing a gathering at the enclave after witnessing the virtual inauguration of renovated Mahe Railway Station, the Lt. Governor said Jipmer has plans to establish a hospital unit in the region. 'Recently, I had a meeting with the Jipmer Director and he informed about the institute's plans to establish a hospital on the similar lines of Jipmer's 50-bed hospital in Karaikal region, he said. Touching upon the development activities in Mahe, the Lt. Governor said the Pondicherry University was interested in opening a community college at the enclave. 'These announcements could be made during Prime Minister's visit to Puducherry,' he said. Development works worth around ₹35 crore were being taken up in Mahe. The Central government has taken up the renovation of Mahe Railway Station under Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, Mr. Kailashnathan said.

ICMR includes Puducherry for its nation-wide study to enhance availability of assistive technologies
The Indian Council of Medical Research has included Puducherry for its nation-wide survey titled 'Assessment of Unmet Needs and Access to Assistive Technologies among the general population through Digital rATA Tool-A Cross sectional study in India.' The ICMR would carry out the survey in Puducherry in collaboration with the Department of Health and Family Welfare Services and Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research. The study was aimed to provide crucial insights for the development of evidence-based policies to enhance the availability of assistive technologies and improve the quality of life of individuals in need, an official release here said. J. Venkatachalam, additional professor, Department of Preventive and Social Medicine, Jipmer would lead the survey team in Puducherry. The other members of the team would include field researchers for undertaking door-to-door visit to gather data. The survey would be done using rATA (Rapid Assistive Technology Assessment) tool in 21 wards of Oulgaret Municipality, the release said. As part of the collaboration with Puducherry government, a team from ICMR on Friday met the Director of Department of Health V. Ravichandran to discuss the modalities of carrying out the survey. The ANMs and ASHA workers of the respective Public Health Centres in Oulgaret would facilitate data collection and ensure public participation. Residents in the region are also encouraged to actively participate in the survey, the release said.

Jipmer joins nation-wide fitness mission
Jipmer joined the nation-wide 'Fit India Sundays' initiative by holding a cycling campaign. The campaign, which is part of the national Fit India Mission, is aimed at integrating fitness into daily routines and promoting a healthier lifestyle, a press note said. The Jipmer event was in line with the similar campaigns called by the University Grants Commission across all Universities in India. Senior Jipmer officials, staff, doctors and students participated and raised awareness on the lines of the slogan 'Fitness ki Dose, Aadha Ghanta Roz'.
